TS: Ms. Sonakshi Bose because I am yours!
Part 1
"Mrs and Mr Bijoy Bose cordially invite you for the engagement ceremony of their daughter Dr. Sonakshi Bose with Dr. Ritwik Sen". Dev was reading this sentence for the nth time since he found this card lying on Tina's desk. While leaving from the office today Dev saw this card addressed to Tina lying on her Desk. On left lower corner it was written " From: Mrs and Mr Bijoy Bose".
After reading the sender's name Dev could not resist to open the card but after reading inside he was torn into pieces, it was Sonakshi's engagement invitation. His mind was not believing what his eyes were reading. He was not able to stand on his feet anymore, he sat on floor next to Tina's desk. Nisha's tap on his shoulder brought him back to the senses.
" Sir are you alright" Nisha enquired. " I am ok, I just tripped" replied said Dev still looking at the floor. He got up walked to his car.
He started to drive with his eyes repeatedly reading the card and tears flowing from them . Lost in his thought he din't see the headlight of car coming from the front. By the time he heard the continuously blowing horn, it was too late, collision was almost inevitable. Dev turned the steering totally towards the right and avoided the near collision but his car hit the tree on the road side. Dev's forehead hit the steering in front and he was lying unconscious inside his car on the roadside.
He was taken to LLS hospital by a by passer and Dixit family was informed by hospital authorities. Ishwari, mamaji, mamiji, Neha(who had come to meet Ishwari), Nikki and Riya rushed to the hospital. When they reached the hospital, Dev was still in causality and a resident doctor was evaluating his vitals. His right arm was folded at elbow resting on his abdomen.
Ishwari rushed into the emergency and held his right hand, stretching his right forearm. Suddenly Nikki saw something scribbled on Dev's right forearm. She said trying to read what was written on his arm " ye bhaiya ke haath par kya likha hai? So...Sona...Sonakshi". Hearing the last word Ishwari dropped Dev's held hand and started looking at Nikki in surprise mixed with anger and repentance.
Neha rushed out of emergency to make a call.
Sonakshi's bedroom
Elena was giving final touches to Sonakshi's makeup and hairdo. Sonakshi was adjusting the pallu of her beautiful cream and red traditional bengali saree. Elena said admiring her beauty in mirror " bahut sunder lag rahi hai, Ritwik toh dekh kar hi flat ho jaayega". Sonakshi gave a fake smile, memories of her getting ready for Neha's wedding and tirade of Dev's messages about his eagerness to see her passed across her mind.
A lone tear appeared at brim of her eye. Her chain of thoughts was interrupted by ring of her phone. She picked up and was shocked to see Neha's name flashing on the screen. She thought Neha might have come to know about her engagement and has called up to congratulate her. She picked the call, the moment she said hello! She heard almost panting voice of Neha " Sona! Dev bhai ka accident ho gaya hai, woh behosh hain, unko LLS hospital laya gaya hai".
Sonakshi dropped the Phone, tears started flowing from her eyes which staring in trance. Elena picked up the phone and held Sonakshi from her shoulders and asked " Sona! Kya hua? Kiska Phone tha".
" Dev ki behan Neha ka, Dev ka accident ho gaya hai." Sonakshi was almost numb while saying this. While coming back to her senses, she got up from the chair, shaking Elena from her shoulder she said " Elena mujhe abhi hospital jaana hai, Dev serious hain, agar unhe kuch ho gaya toh? Main ek baar unhe dekhna chahti hoon. Please Elena mujhe jaana hai." Elena patted her shoulder and said " Theek hai, neeche chal".
Both of them rushed to the living room. Bijoy, Asha and Daadi were sitting on Sofa waiting for Sonakshi to get ready and come, so that they could leave for engagement venue. The moment they reached the living room Elena " Maashi- Mesho! Dev Dixit ka serious accident ho gaya hai". Sonakshi pleaded " Please maa! Please baba! Mujhe ek baar Dev se ja kar milna hai. I know aaj meri engagement hai but sirf ek baar main unko dekhna chahti hoon. Neha ne kaha ,he is serious".
Bijoy wanted to say a no but Asha squeezed his shoulder and said " theek hai u can go but come back fast, we are waiting for you". Sonakshi din wait to hear anything further and rushed out of the house.
Bijoy shouted on Asha " Tomaar maatha kharaab ki! Aaj uski sagaai hai aur tumne usko Dev Dixit ko dekhne ke liye jaane diya". Asha replied calmly " Bijoy! Dev Dixit who insaan jisne ek din hamari beti ki jaan bachaai thi, yehi soch lo hum ehsaan ka badla chuka rahe hain".
Sonakshi hired an auto and told the driver to rush to LLS hospital. She pulled out her phone and dialled a number. After hearing hello from other side she replied " Hello! Ritwik, Sonakshi here!". " Haan bolo Sonakshi! We are about to leave and will reach the venue in another half an hour" said the voice on other side. Sonakshi replied sobbing " Ritwik Dev ka accident ho gaya hai, I am going to LLS hospital. He is serious, just want to see him once...". She was interrupted by Ritwik " its ok".
The moment auto stopped in front of LLS emergency, a car also stopped nearby. Ritwik got down from the car and reached Sonakshi who had just down from the auto and said " chalo, let's rush", looking into Sonakshi's enquiring eyes he said " I thought you might need me".
Sonakshi was waiting outside the emergency and Ritwik was inside enquiring about Dev. He came out and told Sonakshi that Dev has been shifted to Neuro ICU on 4th floor. Both of them rushed to 4th floor.
Entire Dixit family was sitting outside the ICU, waiting for a word about Dev from doctors. Neurosurgeon Dr. Chatterjee was coming out of ICU when Sona and Ritwik reached the ICU entrance. Dr. Chatterjee reached Ritwik and shook hands with him and said " Hi! Dr. Ritwik, how come you are here? Long time no seen!" .Ritwik replied " Hi! Dr. Chatterjee, Mr Dev Dixit is known to me. How is he?".
" Oh! Mr. Dixit, he is your known to. He is ok. No major intracranial haemorrhage, only a small Extradural haemorrhage with mild cerebral oedema." Dr Chatterjee explained Ritwik showing him CT films. He is still drowsy, probably because of cerebral oedema. Vitals are stable and he has a wound on his forehead, which we have sutured. He will be in ICU for next few hours and then we will shift him to our HDU( High dependency unit) on second floor.
Sonakshi could not understand completely what Dr. Chaterjee said but she understood that Dev was out of danger. She felt so relieved and she sat on the bench behind her.
Ritwik reached near Dixit family and reassured Ishwari saying " Auntyji, main Dr. Ritwik hoon!". Ishwari could not look into his eyes as she knew who he was, as she was one who had suggested this as a prospective match for Sonakshi.
Ritwik continued " Auntyji! Mr. Dixit jaldi theek ho jaayenge, Unke maathe par chot hai par sir ke andar koi chot nahi hain. Abhi thodi behoshi hai, kuch der ke liye unko ICU mein rakhenge phir unko bahar ward mein shift kar denge." Sigh of relief was seen on members of Dixit family. Ishwari could just utter " kya hum usko mil sakte hain".
Neha came and stood next to Sonakshi and said " Sona bhaiya ne bahut koshish ki tumko bhulane ki par woh aapko bhula nahi paaye, akele tadapte rahe par kissi ko kuch nahi bol paaye. Jaanti ho Sona abhi bhi bhai ne apni baazu par tumhara naam likha hua hai."
Sonakshi was so lost in her thoughts she din hear a word what Neha said but Ritwik over heard each and every word of it. He din say nething and went inside to talk to the nurse. He came out after few minutes and announced " this is ICU, they cannot allow everyone in, one of you can wear sterile gown and go inside and meet Mr. Dixit."
Ishwari got up and rushed towards the ICU changing room but stopped few steps short of it. She turned back looked at Sonakshi and said " Sonakshi kya tum ja sakti ho Dev se milne?". Sonakshi looked up at her with utter surprise in her eyes. Ishwari knew in her heart today if neone who can bring life into her son was Sonakshi and not her.
Sonakshi said " Auntyji main?", Ishwari replied " haan, mera haq toh nahi hai, par kya tum mere liye kar sakti ho". Sonakshi turned towards Ritwik seeking his consent. Ritwik nodded his head and eyes in a yes.
Sonakshi wore a sterile gown, cap, mask and shoe cover over her engangement attire and entered the ICU.
Dev was already awake and was looking around bewildered as he had no memory how he was brought him here. The moment Dev realised that Sonakshi was standing right in front of his eyes he uttered " Sonakshi".
Sonakshi came and stood beside his bed, Dev stretched his hand to hold Sonakshi's when she noticed her name scribbled on his forearm. Sonakshi pulled her hand back and patted on his shoulder and said "U take rest, aapka accident hua tha but nothing to worry.."
Dev held Sonakshi's hand with his shaking one and said "Sonaskhi please mujhe maaf kar do, I know I have really hurt you. Maine hamesha tumhe kaha I love you, but how much I love you I realised after u left. I knw I betrayed your trust but I was a fool not to understand how to balance relationships in life. I m foolish not a cheater, please forgive me. I can't live without you. Give me one note chance to gain back your trust, please. He had tears of remorse in his eyes.
Sonakshi too had tears in her eyes but she was quiet. She pulled her hand and said " it's too late, today is my engagement and it's very difficult for me to trust you again. Sonakshi turned to walk away.
Dev held her hand and asked " then why are you here". Sona turned back and replied in a firm tone without mincing her words " because I loved you, because I can't see you in pain, because I wanted to see u once. Now u get it why I m here. Not for you but for myself".
Dev still making an effort to stop her asked " Are u happy with this engagement". Sonakshi replied with pain and anger in her eyes " Have u left with any option in life. Mr Dev Dixit u think u took away love from my life but do u realise u robbed away the trust I had in myself. I don trust myself anymore. I m doing what my family thinks is good for me. Aap ke liye decisions lena bahut aasaan hota hai par doosron ko un decisions ko jeena padta hai. Look at me I am alive inspite of everything".
Dev asked her making a last ditch effort " do u still love me?", to his surprise Sonakshi replied in the same stern tone " yes I still love you but you don't deserve my love. U r not a man of his words. I judged you wrong, I felt for a wrong person. Now I pay for this mistake of mine for rest of my life". Dev replied " I will try to make my self worthy of you".
Sonakshi knew Ritwik was waiting for her outside, she was about to leave when she saw Ritwik entering through the door. " Hi! Mr. Dixit, how are you? I don't know whether you know me or not , I am Dr Ritwik Sen. Dr Sonakshi and I were to be engaged today. But I guess its time to call it off. Sonakshi was left stunned. " What do u mean by that." Sonakshi asked.
Ritwik replied very calmly " Sonakshi you remember the first day you told me about your past, what did I tell you? I am here to help you. Sonakshi you still love Dev and now we know he also loves you. I know he has broken your trust but he was an immature fool not to understand depth of relations. He is not a fraud or cheater. Yes, it is difficult for you trust him again but you need to give him a chance. Sona I have also lost my love but I was not lucky enough to get it back and u are. Please don let it go." Sonakshi was crying inconsolably.
Ritwik now addressing Dev said" U Mr. Dixit I know you love Sonakshi but don't forget she holds a very special place in my heart too, u and Sona have shared happiness but I and Sona have shared pain. Relations with whom u share pain are more intense. One thing I want to tell u Mr. Dixit, Sonakshi is perfect the way she is, please don try to mould her or change to fit her in any situation. If u really love her accept her the way she is and let people around you accept her the way she is".
Dev was looking into Ritwik's eyes with guilt and said " I have realised my mistakes and trust me I will never let you down. This time I will try be yours Ms Sonakshi Bose rather than try to make you mine".
Sonakshi held Ritwik's hands in her's and said looking right into his eyes " I always knew u are a nice person but are a great human being and a greatest friend. Thanks for everything. If I m here is because of you, u supported me so much all these days. I will cherish this friendship all my life". Ritwik gave Sonakshi a friendly hug and left from the ICU.
Sonakshi came and stood near Dev and said " Dev my wounds are too deep and too fresh and will take time to heal". Dev smiled and said " thanks for giving me a chance, I won't betray your trust ever again".
Sister entered the ICU and told Sonakshi to leave as they will be shifting Dev to HDU and they all can meet him there.
