2 Film Studios to Produce SLB's 200 Crs Padmavathi

Buzz is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati is proving to be too expensive for one film studio.

The filmmaker is known to be extravagant and not cut corners to turn his ambitions to reality. If the grapevine is to be believed, Viacom 18 and Eros International will be co-producing the period drama. Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' (2015) was produced by Eros and he approached them for 'Padmavati'.

But with the stipulated budget hitting through the roof, he needs to have two studios pumping in the moolah. Though there is nothing official about it yet, insiders say SLB is looking at Rs 200 crore to make the film. Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor are said to have been cast for the period drama.

Dear god...I hope it gets a solo release and a few weeks to recover atleast. Does Aamir have a Christmas release next year?? And what are the chances of the ALR SRK film clashing with Padmavati??

Ranveer Singh is keeping mum on his casting in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati but the film's costume designer has let out that the actor is indeed on board for the period drama.
There have been numerous media reports about Ranveer's casting in the film, with some suggesting he is again teaming up with Bhansali, while others claiming the actor had a fallout with the director and opted out of the project.

It, however, seems that the speculation can be put to rest now as costume designer Ajay Kumar, who has begun the work on "Padmavati", posted on Instagram that both Ranveer and actress Deepika Padukone are part of the movie.

Ajay earlier worked with Bhansali on "Ram Leela" and "Bajirao Mastani", both of which starred Ranveer in the lead role.
The designer shared a throwback picture of Bhansali and the 31-year-old actor from the sets of "Ram Leela".
He captioned the photo, writing, "Some #rare picture of #slb n #ranveersingh in the #memories of #Ramleela !!! #bhansali sir is #ready for the #pose while he is #unaware of #background n his #frame is not #cleared yet! it's #hatrick #combo for #Padmavati and off course for #me too."
"Padmavati" will be a hat-trick for the trio - Deepika, Ranveer and Bhansali. The movie is based on Alauddin Khilji's obsession for Mewar queen Padmavati.

When big director /franchise has made a film with a smaller cast or smaller film,it has mostly made less money.

SLB's audience want more,much more.They want to be dazzled like they were with the song promo Deewani Mastani which was released weeks before the theatrical trailer.

Their expectations will be higher.

I think BM was a bigger risk at 150 crores.Though RL had a worldwide gross of 200 cr(BOI)

RL had a budget of 88 crores..and BM budget was 40% higher.

Padmavati will be 25% more.
