Shahid Kapoor Questions Credibility of Critics

There's no right answer when it comes to things like this. On one hand, it's just ridiculous to intimidate women who are minding their own business and just sitting on the beach and forcing them to strip. That's not liberal. That's just as ridiculous as Muslim countries that stifle their women.
On the other hand, it's understandable that France is pissed off that people from other countries/cultures come to France and then refuse to assimilate and demand to be able to live like they used to elsewhere. If you don't like France's culture, don't go there! But demanding that everyone cater to you and let you live like you do Saudi Arabia is absurd.

Isn't French president Hollande and his party pretty liberal?
He is facing election next year, his approval ratings hit record low, maybe they're doing this kind of stuff to appease people who are very upset after the series of terrorists attacks
