"Holy Crap!!"
"My cell phone!!"
She refused to believe that she didn't have it with her, as she tried searching for it in her pockets, only to realize she was wearing a dress, and not her usual jeans!
"This dress doesn't have pockets, Khushi. Stop being SO SILLY."
Her conscience laughed at her as she chided herself and continued to panic.
.
She opened her clutch and disappointment hit her hard, as her phone wasn't there either.
.
Frustrated, her face frowned over the loss, when suddenly realization dawned.
.
.
"I left it on the washroom counter!"
Her lips curved into a victorious smile, as she figured out what went wrong, but it faded instantly when she thought there was no guarantee it was still there.
.
On a practical note, it was just a cell phone and she could manage to get a new one whenever she wished, say the next day itself.
But her mom gave it to her last year on her 17th birthday and there was no way she could risk losing it. And other than that, wasn't a cell phone a strong hub of one's privacy, with pictures and messages?
With that thought, she thanked her luck as she found the keys of her Chevy in her clutch.
.
Without a second thought, she ran towards my Impala.
Taking the driver's seat, she put the key into ignition as she accelerated the speed, regardless of the constant heavy rain.
.
It seemed as if all her unanswered questions and uncanny thoughts were now manifested into her reckless driving style.
She accelerated the speed more, as the thunders and lightening continued to mark their presence on those endless roads.
.
ASR.
Arnav Sciarrone Ray.
The Devil..
.
Their first meet..
.
The rage..
.
The hatred..
.
Her savior..
.
The incomplete fall..
.
The jealousy..
With every turn, and every changing gear all of it flashed in front of her eyes.
To rant out her frustration, her diary and driving recklessly had always been the solution.
The latter, being the most unjustified thing at this hour.
.
As her thought process finally saw a pause, she realized that she had already reached her destination.
She applied the brakes in full swing, and her car came to a halt.
.
Getting out, she instantly ran inside the building, in the process getting totally drenched in the rain.
.
There was no sign of any person anywhere as the building seemed totally lull at the moment.
It felt hard to believe that a crazy party took place here just an hour back.
Keeping her thoughts aside, she ran through the corridors of the Arts building and she finally discovered the Girls' washroom at one end.
.
The darkness made it difficult to see anything, but the little light that she managed to get from the lightening coming from the tall windows was enough to locate her destination.
.
Entering the washroom, her eyes immediately scanned the marble counter, where she had spent few minutes of solitude, an hour back.
To her utter surprise, she found her cell phone still lying there.
Untouched.
Unharmed.
.
A smile of joy appeared on her face as she quickly grabbed it from there and ran downstairs.
.
Placing her cell phone safely inside her clutch, she made sure it wasn't going to come in contact with the rain.
If not anything, something happened positive this night after all, she thought.
.
As she was about to take the final step out of the building, a weird feeling erupted inside her.
As if, bringing her back to reality.
Up till now, whatever she did, she didn't know how she did.
.
The anger..
The strength..
The drive..
The darkness..
..It seemed as if she was working in an illusion, as she remained unaffected by all of these.
But now..
Now she felt her senses returning to her.
And, she felt scared.
Deathly scared.
.
As she turned back, she heard faint voices coming from the room at the end of the corridor.
.
A chill ran down her spine as the thunders continued and her heart pounded heavily.
Intrigued by the voices, she started stepping towards Room- A103, the same spot from where the faint voices were heralding.
.
The voices became more clear as she reached closer, and soon after, she discovered that those weren't mere voices.
Those were something else.
.
Swallowing the lump in her throat, she stood still as she finally reached the room and peeped from the small window, to take a look of what was going on inside.
.
.
Her eyes grew wide in horror and she stood terror-stricken as she saw a group of people covered in black cloaks standing in a weird order.
Their faces were not visible to her, as the voices kept coming out in unison, and they stood as it is, not changing their positions at all.
As if..
As if referring to some symbol.
.
Her eyes traced the entire room, illuminated with the flames of the candles.
.
Her sight finally stopped the expedition of exploring it, as her attention finally settled on the marbled floor.
.
.
A Pentagon..
A huge pentagon was drawn on the floor, with..
"Blood?"
The thought itself made her immensely giddy.
.
Those cloaked people standing on each corner of them, went on with their words, still unaware of her unceremonious presence.
.
"What the hell is this supposed to mean?"
She mumbled to herself, terrified at the sight in front of her.
.
.
As her senses returned, she quickly turned away from the sight, trying to run away when suddenly her finger nail broke hitting the rough wall, and a whimper escaped her mouth without any invitation.
.
Trying her best to control the pain, she felt the eerie voices abruptly stop and her heart suddenly skipped a beat, at the possibility of what this could mean.
.
Everyone among them stared at her, their faces still hidden from her, but their hearted gazes burning her from within.
Khushi didn't need to see them to believe what their eyes held for her at that moment.
The rage and the anger were already evident in the atmosphere now as she watch in utter horror, the flames in the room rising incessantly without any forewarning.
.
She didn't need a hint to deduce that her life was no longer in her hands.
.
Giving herself a last chance, and without wasting another fraction of second, she ran away from there, as fast as she could.
As if, she would do anything..
Be it even dying.
But not this way.
Not in their hands.
.
.
The running seemed to be endless, though she could see her car standing so close to her, really.
As she approached her car, hoping against hope that she would make it, she felt strong hands stopping her midway holding her wrists in a vice like grip that was too hard to evade from.
.
.
The heavy rain still pouring, she tried with all her strength to release herself from the steel grip that overpowered her like nothing before.
.
"Just..let..me go.."
She managed to speak, still wriggling under the strong grip, writhing from the pain, panting from the run.
.
She got no reply.
.
The thunder scared her all the more, as she felt defeat consuming her once again.
.
"Please.."
She begged as tears rolled down her cheeks on their own accord and she knew she was losing it.
But the hands still didn't leave her.
The lightening struck once again, making her witness yet another jolt of shock.
.
The Devil..
.
Both of them completely drenched in the heavy rain, stood there still.
No more masqueraded, she felt herself go on a brain-freeze as she noticed no distance between their bodies.
The thunder seemed to have no effect on her anymore, as she found herself lost in his dark brown eyes once again.
.
All this while, his hands didn't leave her wrists, as he continued staring at her, making her startled with his mystic gaze all over again.
.
His flawless skin wet in the rain, and that intrinsic appeal, her heart continued to beat rapidly, as she struggled desperately to get away from him.
But her efforts didn't lead to anything fruitful.
She instantly felt a pang and her heart thudded knowing those unknown entities were after her, and she shivered at that thought.
.
"..Let..me..go..please.."
She whispered with exhaustion, feeling dizzy, as her strength was giving up completely.
.
"...Ssshhh..."
She heard his soft voice as millions of emotions came running to her in a jiffy.
.
He still didn't let go of his hold on her, as she felt her body going limp and she had nothing in her to fight against him. Not anymore.
The Devil..
Arnav.
Capturing the sight of his dark brown eyes in her mind and heart, she felt everything going away from her, as blackness took over her entire being completely and she collapsed in his arms.
