It is a good thing that the chip was removed soon. That is so creepy. That stupid shantanu. Maybe that is what SS stands for. Grrr. I think you are trying to portray him less evil than in the show. Or it is because his past was never shown in the show and you have written about it. But whatever it is, I want him to be caught soon.
Now I too want chocolate cake.

Ya right! Like he will listen to me 🤔. He listens only to his Paro. Ask her to stop him 😉.

Shatanu was both creepy and sweet on the show, trying to maintain a bit of that 😳.

I think his brother was Varun Singh, so he would be Shantanu Singh right?
Sneak peak on Friday to the person who can tell me his surname

Shantanu was added by the channel solely to kill Paro. His past, present and future didn't matter. There were too many loopholes. Wouldn't Varun have introduced his brother to his bride? Won't he be walking next to his uncle beside the palanquin? Here I wrote the FB to cover those loopholes. There were moments when he actually seemed like a nice guy who won't plot or kill unless he has a very strong reason. That's how I understood it, his revenge quest made him evil but he could have been inherently good.

Sorry, about the speech. He will be caught as soon as he makes a move against Paro.

Go ahead, have some cake

CHAPTER 64

Two hours later Rudra slowed down to turn into his old driveway. There were new plants in the garden, the walls had been painted, the roof of the portico fixed, even the lamppost he had driven into as an adolescent had been fixed. Shatabdi had done a good job in renovating the house that he and Ranavat had left to rot and Sumer had simply ignored.

He turned to Paro who had dozed off. Before he could wake her up, he saw a shadow approach. He dimmed the car's headlights and took out his pistol. With a wary eye on his wife he stepped out. He went around and slipped into the darkness.

Sumer wondered why Rudra wasn't coming out. He saw the driver's seat empty and his sister-in-law asleep. He placed his hand on the backdoor when he heard a click. He gulped when he felt the cold metal pressed to his temple. "Ru...Rudra?" he stuttered.

Rudra pulled back the gun, "Why are you creeping around like a thief? Has your wife put you on guard duty?" His cousin growled. It was entirely his fault. He ruined her sleep and now he had the gall to mock him. "I know my happiness and peace of mind doesn't matter to either of you. But for Paro's sake grow up," he scolded.

Rudra scowled as he saw his retreating back. He was just being the husband Paro needed him to be. If Shatabdi couldn't handle it, it was her problem not his. Besides his cousin had to learn how to tackle his wife else she will boss over him forever just like Kakisa did. She had the same dominating streek that his aunt had.

Sumer returned with a small cardboard box. "I picked it up from the Coffee Day at the tourist centre. Come over on Sunday, Shatabdi will teach you to bake," he offered. Rudra replied that she can send the recipe to Maithili bhabhisa so that she can make it next time. "Why don't I send it to Maasa, you can wake her up in the middle of the night," he suggested.

Rudra ignored him and placed the box in the back seat. "Is she comfortable?" his cousin asked seeing the woman curled up in the front, wrapped in a thin shawl. He wondered if he should invite them. "Your wife will be after my blood if you don't get back in," Rudra reminded him as he started the car.

Within minutes he was back on the desert highway. He rolled down the windows letting the air in. There was something soothing about the cool night winds. "Ouch!" grumbled as she bumped her head on the door. She looked around and was shocked. "Where are we going?" she asked him. She rubbed her eyes to make sure he was really in the middle of the desert. "I thought I would take the scenic route home," he stated as if it was obvious.

She looked around the dark dunes to see what he had spotted. He tapped her chin and pointed up. She gasped when she saw millions of stars lighting up the night sky. She fumbled for the button that opened the sunroof. She stood up to get a better look. "Paro! What are you doing?" he scolded pulling the vehicle to a halt.

She sat down with a face more radiant than the brightest star. "There are more stars here than in Chandangard," she told him excitedly. The street lights were the culprit who will be punished immediately. She laughed at his reply.

He looked back to make sure the box of pastries was intact. "Is that my chocolate cake?" she asked. Before he could answer, she had grabbed the box and stepped out of the car. "Wait! Have you lost your mind?" he yelled joining her.

"I want to have this here, under the stars," she said decidedly. He looked at his watch. 2:50 am. They should be in bed getting some sleep before he had to leave again. "If you fall asleep, I will have to leave you here," he threatened. He was joking and she knew it. It hurt him just as much as her, when they were apart. Except for BSD nothing could keep them apart.

"I'm serious. You aren't as light as a feather anymore," he continued. She rubbed her still flat belly and thought for a minute. "I thought your Bapusa is very strong. But he can't carry me because of the tiny weight you are adding?" she spoke to the life within her.

"Paro, I'm tired," he groaned not afraid to be vulnerable infront of her. His heart dropped when he saw her gaze fall to the sand. He didn't want to remember like this during his mission. One night under the stars was suddenly seemed like a very good idea. It would make up for the nights spent apart.

He took a blanket from the boot and spread it. He grabbed a few torches and planted them in the sand. Paro remembered her old nightmare where he set a circle of fire around her. Mamisa had told her then, that fire also illuminates. Tonight the torches were providing that illumination.

She took out a plastic knife from the bag and cut out a slice. After transferring it to paper plate, she handed it to him. Lost in his thoughts, he didn't receive it immediately. "Something bothering you, Rudra?" she asked worry darkening her spirits.

"I am leaving on a mission tomorrow," he started. Her smile vanished instantly. "It's nothing for you to worry about. It's a diplomatic one. I'm not even taking my gun," he continued. She was confused. He was a soldier. What kind of mission wouldn't need a gun? "Some kids are under trial after accidently crossing the border. They were hungry so stole some fruit. Now they are stuck there," he elaborated. She was shocked. Children were under trial for fruits? "It's what happened after that caused the mess. While getting off the tree, one of them slipped and fell on a cow. The animal bolted in fright," he finished.

She burst out laughing. This was the funniest thing he had ever told her. He waited for her to finish with a soft smile on her face. "Why are they calling BSD?" she asked trying to keep a straight face. The children are Indian citizens. The local Khap panchayat was called to address the situation. But when their border patrol got wind of it, BSD was called in to protect the rights of the accused Indians.

She didn't know that such issues get sorted out in this manner. "They don't but such things can grow into a bigger mess which nobody wants to clean up," he replied. She ate the rest of the cake in silence.

Rudra held her hand gently, "The only thing that is going to be injured is my ear with all the talking. Don't worry about me." Her bowed head nodded in assent. "Are you mad that I am going away when you are pregnant?" he asked openly. She gave him a small smile. She knew his heart better than her own. If there was something he could do for the country he would volunteer without any hesitation. No matter how big or small the mission was he would go. She admired that about him.

"I'm not mad," she whispered moving to lean on his shoulder. She would miss him. He wrapped his arms around her tiny frame. "I will miss you too. I need you to be a good girl and listen to Bhabhisa. Don't do everything that Kakisa tells you blindly. She overreacts for everything these days. Don't forget your studies while I'm away. You can get back to your needle craft after your exams," he advised.

"Will you be back before my exams start?" she asked with the innocence of a child. He looked into her eyes and saw the same fear he used to have all those years ago. "Are you studying properly?" he asked sternly. She nodded slowly then shook her head. "If you haven't prepared well, I won't come with you. I can go to war with ill prepared soldiers," he continued.

She slipped from his grasp and glared at him. She was already afraid. Instead of allaying her fears he was comparing it to a battle. "I will be ready. You can check with Sunheri if you want," she replied firmly. He bit his lips to keep from smiling. "Then I will drive you to the exam center," he promised. Another smile bloomed on her face. He would be away for less than a week.

"Paro, we are taking the rest back to the haveli. I'm sure Shanti will like some," he said shutting the box close minutely. Paro pouted. Her baby wanted some too. "You had three slices. That should be enough for you and your lemon sized baby," he pointed out. This made her angry. What kind of a father called his son names? Then she remembered how he called his father.

"Paro, I don't want you to be sick. Please don't be mad at me. This won't get spoilt if we keep it in the fridge. You can have more tomorrow," he explained. She tries to avoid the concerned eyes that bore into her soul. He wrapped her shawl tighter and whispered, "Okay?" She sighed. A single word, a slight touch was enough for her to melt away.

Rudra thought of the mother of his child as Aman drove him to the border. She would be angry when she woke up. But she needed rest too. A disturbed slumber in a car wasn't good enough for his Paro. He hoped his surprise would make up for it.

Aman, however, had other doubts to ponder. "Are you sure this will work? We still have a few minutes before we reach your friend Zaheer. You can tell him I will go instead of you," he offered. His friend rolled his eyes. His official mission will be done before nightfall. He will disappear after that.

"What if SS makes his move today?" Amanda asked again. Rudra was sure that won't happen. The chip was removed. Until tomorrow morning SS won't even realize he was gone. Aman wondered if he should share his contingency plan with his senior. "Being her bodyguard is one thing I have always excelled in Aman," he assured as he saw the jeep drive up to the other side of the barbed fence.

"Aman, keep this between us until I return. Don't tell VK Singh Sir," he warned before getting off. Warning bells started to go off in his friend's ears. If there was a stalker after either of them, the general would need to know. "He didn't tell us about Delhi, did he," Rudra shot back. SS would have been in jail by now if they had known about him. "What if we are wasting time, by not discussing it? We may miss something! Paro is my sister too," he almost shouted.

Rudra struggled to keep his rage in check. Aman wasn't wrong but he didn't realise what would happen next. The only way to make sure that his wife is waiting for him in his home not her uncle's is if he doesn't know the danger lurking about. In the haveli, he has the best chance over the hundred constables that could be posted at the general's quaters. He took a deep breathe, "I know you care about her too. I give you my word, I will not let anything hurt her. Besides, if our assumption is right SS will come after me not her. And if it is wrong, he won't see me before it is too late." What if it becomes too late for Paro, Aman wondered silently. He needed to make his own plan B.

Back at the haveli, Paro stretched her hand and heard a tinkle as she woke up. She saw a flask with a glass placed on the bedside table. "Am I supposed to drink milk?" she asked her old doll lifting it. A small peace of paper fell down. She smiled when she realized that it was a tiny heart with the words Good morning!' She turned at to the flask, "Don't you have anything to say?" She saw another heart placed under it. I will make you strong' she laughed as she read. She poured half a glass, "He did put in some effort."

Next she walked up to the wardrobe and opened its door. She found another heart pinned on her red and blue ghagra, You make me look pretty' She quickly had her bath and dressed in the ghagra he picked for her.

She looked around her dressing table for the next heart. She found it on a jhumka, Rudra! Rudra!' She shook her head remembering he used to complain that this pair of earrings keep chattering non stop and never let her pay attention to him.

She looked for the necklace with a heart among her jewelry. It wasn't there. Had he forgotten? He wasn't the type. Then she remembered what he used to tell her, "Paro these insufferable pieces of metal always poke when I try to kiss you." She couldn't make the same complaint about his stubble now could she? She shivered in delight remembering how the rough texture felt against her skin. Maybe she should pick one herself before someone calls for her.

She then the small parcel with a heart drawn on it, I was forgotten last night!' She giggled when she saw the contents. Her chocolate cake idea had killed his chudi leela plan. She wore the red bangles and shook it slightly revelling in the sound. She checked her appearance in the mirror when she noticed a leaf stuck to the side. She pulled it when a long stalk came out. She recognized the leaves from her favorite rose bush. At the other end another heart was tied. You are lovelier than my flowers. Can I kidnap you?'

She placed it down and wondered what might if he actually happen if she was still hidden in this room as his captive. Would he have become as kind and caring as he now was? Would he have realised she was not a threat to him? Would she have been able to see the man behind the mask of anger? Would he truly have dumped her in the corner of his room as he had once threatened?

"Bhabhisa!" called out Sunheri as she rushed in. Paro quickly hid the hearts in one of her jewelry boxes. "Don't you want Rudra bhaisa's surprise?" she squealed. Paro's eyes nearly popped out. Kakisa would be so angry if such things were discussed with Sunheri who was just embarking on adulthood. She looked about quickly to make sure that no evidence was around.

"I don't have time now. But today classes will get over early, I can help you with your studies. In return you have to tell me all about your surprise," she teased. Paro was horrified. Did he share his plans with everyone before leaving? How could she face Bapusa? What would Kakisa say?

She slowly followed Sunheri out. The mood at the breakfast table was grim. Bapusa didn't keep the paper aside to greet her. Kakosa tried to speak but stopped when his wife gave him a look. She looked at Jeeja whose eyes didn't move from the rotis on Samrat bhaisa's plate. That Jallad had to leave her in a mess before leaving!

Yah! Me first. 👏
Paro's wish to have chocolate cake was fulfilled and how. Right in the middle of the desert. Rudra wanted Paro to have this before he left for the mission. Hope his plan does not backfire. Because SS can be quite cunning and right now he is blinded by his love for his slain brother.

Congrats 😆

Rudra is making a habit of spoiling her more when he has to go away 😉.

I have a bad feeling about this, honestly. Shantanu isn't your straight forward crook, he has a bit of psycho in him. Let's home for the best 😊
