Mir Ranjan Negi of Chak de fame was one of the most popular contestants of Jhalak. This docile and well-mannered Hockey player suddenly turned aggressive when the judges disqualified him for the finals. He got the lowest marks this week. He claimed that Shiamak supports Sandhya and Jeetu supports Prachi, and this is not fair. We spoke to this wonderful human being as he sat in the green room right after the elimination.
How was your experience in Jhalak? It was a wonderful experience. Gazab ka experience tha. I became zero to hero. How did you get into the show? I got a call from I-events, an event management company. They told me you've to dance in a show. Finally it was a decision I took after talking with everyone in my family and friends. People asked me what is the need of doing this at this age. I was a Hockey guru, that's why it was very important that I don't make a fool out of myself. I had to be cautious. The truth why I came to this show is that I am going to start a foundation in the name of my son. I have dreamed of promoting hockey in a large scale through this foundation. I have not come here to be a hero. I guess god wants me to go back to my first hockey, that's why I got out. If you see our last performance it was terrific, but it's all god's wish, what can we do. You spoke against Shiamak in the last episode. What annoyed you? My argument was Shiamak requested the audience to vote for the good dancers. He also out rightly mentioned to vote for Sandhya Mridul. Shiamak ji must be having some lakhs of fans; does this mean that all their votes should go to Sandhya? Is it right to say vote for her and not for Negi? This is wrong. Even we're working hard. He is a judge, and their work is to be neutral. He shouldn't have done this. Do you have grudges against the other judges? If you've noticed, I have never spoken against the judges ever in the show, except for today. I have never begged to them for marks. I never even asked the audience to vote for me. Everybody asked for votes, but not me. I don't have any complain against anyone, I always took their marks as prashad and never complained. You're a guru, did you ever had ego hassle with your choreographer Marischa? Marischa is very hardworking but we had a one-day fight. And I told her that if I was in her place I would have made her work a lot harder. This hurt her a lot, and she became Chak de's Shah Rukh Khan (laughs). She switched off the fan and AC, didn't allow me to have water and made me dance continuously for 8 hours. And for that performance we got our first 30. She was very rude to me sometimes, but then if you want to achieve something there should be some madness in you. She has a lot of madness in her. Do you want to stick to the glamour world? To do some good work if I am taking the support of the glamour world then I don't think it is wrong. I have earned a lot of respect from the people here, no one ever told anything wrong about us. Will you continue dancing now? I've lost almost 8 kilos rehearsing for dance. I think this is a very good form of exercise. I wish to join either Shiamak or Sandeep Soparkar's classes. I will definitely keep dancing now. Where will you see you in the future?
