Alia Bhatt discusses the possibilities of more films starring a superstar and a Gen-Y heroine

Alia Bhatt is the first newcomer from this generation to have starred in a film opposite a superstar. Dear Zindagi, directed by Gauri Shinde has Alia and SRK playing the lead characters. But they aren't romantically paired.

Alia explains, "Gauri's film isn't a love story. We need to open our minds and think of different perspectives to films. There are people who ask at me, Love story nahi hai?' and I'm like, Toh? Sirf love stories hi bante hai Bollywood mein?' People need to change that attitude, especially today when so many different kind of stories are being written."

Alia feels it might just be the inception of a revolutionary trend in Bollywood. "Dear Zindagi can open up more arenas. I really hope it does. Especially, for the actresses from our generation who are much younger, as there will be a bigger window or chance of being paired with a superstar. The opportunities to work with one another will become more based on the kind of films that are being made today. It doesn't necessarily have to be a love story anymore."
