It had been five days since Khushi had returned from the trip to Singapore, albeit happily. She was indeed a bit relieved having shared the deepest secret of her life with Arnav. She was a bit surprised when Arnav asked her to follow her dream. She had imagined him ridiculing her. Instead, he had encouraged her to try and not back out due to fear of rejection.
Later, Arnav had come to her with a sheet of paper. It was one of the numerous ones where she had drawn rough sketches of cartoons based on fantasies or real life situations. Her cheeks had shown a slight hint of reddish hue when Arnav had praised her. Of course Jalebi had not admitted it in front of Chilli.
"Kumaaariii, why are you blushing seeing the envelope as if it some love letter?"
Jalebi was snapped out of her dream land by NK's voice who still shared her cabin.Jalebi had a similar blush on her face as she had when Chilli had praised her. Oh! Why did this idiot have to burst my day-dream bubble? She thought. She slowly opened the envelope. After their return from Singapore, the interns had to prepare a report of the deal they had successfully sealed there. As usual Khushi was reluctant to finish it, especially when a wedding was round the corner. Yes, Akash and Pari were finally getting married. However, Khushi had decided to work (not to mention, grudgingly most of the times). It was all because of one man, or rather, his words. "I trust you, Khushi."
It was the last day at RHF as an intern. The envelope in her hand contained her fate, whether she would have to deal with stupid NK further or not. NK had already announced the whole office that he was now a permanent employee of RHF. In fact Jalebi was the first person to receive the news. He had also handed her envelope a few minutes back.
She rolled her eyes at NK and said, "Shut up NK. Don't you have any other work?"
"Come on, Kumaariii. Open the letter. Or are you afraid that you are no more a part of RHF?"
"Oh, please NK. Everyone here knows that my report was much better than yours."
"Huh! Overconfidence is not good, Kumaariii."
Khushi humphed. Though she boldly claimed that she was a better intern than NK but for once she wished NK's words to be true. She opened the neatly folded letter. Her mouth fell open as she saw the contents of the letter and unknowingly she muttered, "What the."

"God knows where this obnoxious man is." Jalebi mumbled along with chewing her favourite sweet, yes, the yellow swirls dripping with sugar syrup. Jalebi had intended to have a conversation with Chilli but he had been too busy with the preparations of his brother's impending wedding rituals. So she had decided to sulk and indulge in the sweet that was her namesake.
"Hey", the man in question appeared just then.
Ah! Now His Highness decides to grace us with his presence!
"Go away. I don't want to talk to you." She continued munching the jalebis.
Arnav looked at the woman, scratch that girl, err... a mix of both, in front of him. Khushi was sitting at the edge of the pool with her feet dipped in water, a plate of jalebis in her hand.
"You called me some ten times and sent so many texts asking me to meet you and that you wanted to talk to me. I thought it was something very important and now when I come, you say you no longer want to talk to me. Ajeeb ho!"
If you are wondering if this is some tiff between love birds wherein the girl is angry while her lover is trying to calm her, then you are gravely mistaken.
"Arrey, of course it is important", Khushi bit back. "But can't you see that I am eating jalebis? I can't talk to you now. I waited for so long. You should wait too."
As much as he admired her savouring her favourite sweet, he was not in the mood to entertain her antics.
"Khushi..", he said seating himself beside her."Do you even realise that there is sangeet going on and here you are munching these goddamn jalebis?"
"Hmm...", Khushi replied without even looking at him.
Arnav snatched the plate from her hand. "Arnav. Give me my jalebis back."
"First you will say what you wanted to speak about and then you will get these back."
"No. First jalebis."
Khushi tried reaching for the plate which Arnav had held high, above her reach.
"Arnav.." She tried harder but almost lost her balance when Chilli came to her rescue by steadying her holding her waist. Unbeknownst to them, someone was smiling looking at the snapshot. Arnav's hand was resting on Khushi's waist while Khushi's on Arnav's chest. The couple seemed to be lost in each other's eyes. Ah! The perfect shot.
"Khushi if you don't speak now, I am going to throw these in the pool."
"Haww! How can you be so mean?"
"I am mean. Now speak."
Realising that she could not have her way she said, "Fine", she said with a scowl. (How could she bear her jalebis to be thrown in the pool?) "I wanted to speak about this." She flashed her phone in front of him.
"How could you do this, Arnav?"
Arnav looked at the picture of the letter in front of him which confirmed Khushi as an employee of RHF.
"I trusted you with my secret, Arnav. I let you know my decision about pursuing my dream and now I see this letter. You said I should follow my dream. How will I do it if I have to work on stupid deals? I don't even like working on them. Moreover, NK shares my cabin. That idiot has no other work other than irritating me. I should not have told anything to you. God, why did I even get drunk that night? Jiji is right. I cannot handle alcohol at all. Again, it was not my fault at all. That idiot NK had spiked my dr..."
Before Khushi could continue with her tirade, Arnav silenced her.
"Did anyone ever tell you that you speak too much?"
"Mmmpph..." Khushi chewed the jalebi that was stuffed in her mouth. Why was Arnav accusing me of speaking too much? That too like it is a crime. I mean I get a jalebi for speaking which means it is a good thing. Yeh Chilli bhi na! Her internal musings were again stopped.
"First of all, congratulations Khushi! You showed that you can do well whatever field you may choose. As for the letter, Papa took the final decision. He was very happy with your progress, especially since Shashi Uncle was really worried about you. I could have stopped him but I didn't."
"Why?" The ever curious Jalebi asked immediately without skipping a beat.
"It is not my secret to tell, Khushi. You should first announce your decision to Shashi Uncle and Garima Aunty. Accepting the job offer at RHF or rejecting it should be your decision and yours alone."
Arnav looked at Khushi who seemed lost in some deep thought. He never knew he would ever be a witness to a scene where Jalebi would be lost in her thoughts. When he was contemplating whether to tap her shoulder or not, he was attacked by her sudden hug.
Khushi has always been an expressive person. Right now, she did not know what exactly she felt. Gratitude? Respect? She did not know. Hence, she hugged him summing up everything.
"Thank you so much Arnav. Thank you for everything." Khushi said earnestly.
"Di, we were wondering where Bhai and Khushi vanished but looks like the love birds are romancing beside the pool."
The hug between Jalebi and Chilli was broken by the giggles of Anjali, Avni and Payal.
"Khushi, why didn't you tell me that you two are together?" Payal asked with a serious look.
"What the..." Both Jalebi and Chilli spoke together.
"We were just discussing work, Jiji", Khushi tried explaining.
"Yeah, right. You were discussing work at the pool side with a plate full of jalebis. It is equivalent to believing that the sun rises in the west."
"You can stop with the sarcastic jibs, Jiji. But we were seriously discussing about work. Jalebi ki kasam!"
"Payal, she is right actually." It was Arnav who defended this time.
"Like the time in Singapore? You both were discussing work that time also when something entered Khushi's eyes and you were just removing it and not kissing. Hai na, Bhai?"Avni chipped in.
"Ki...kiss? What are you talking about Avni?"
Avni showed the picture in her phone. Khushi's mouth fell open seeing the picture. Though their faces were not completely visible, the general assumption would be that they were kissing. She looked at Arnav with questioning eyes but he had put on a poker face.
"Okay, leave them alone girls."Anjali commanded. "After all, we will have more opportunities to tease them."
As soon as they left, Khushi snapped, "What is the meaning of all this?"

A day earlier,
"Bhaaiii!!! I am so happy for you but I am angry. Why didn't you tell me?"
Avni had entered Arnav's room bursting with excitement.
"Chhutki, what happened? What did I not tell you?" asked a confused Arnav.
"That you are in a relationship with Khushi. You promised me that I would be the first one to know about the girl in your life."
"What the."
"This "What the" is not going to work on me, okay. Here you go around kissing Khushi in Singapore and you don't even admit that." Ajay Singh Raizada entered the scene.
"What... How... I mean..."
"Let me help you a bit, my son." Ajay showed him the picture which he had received from his secret source.

"And so you came up with this stupid excuse. Clearly, nobody is convinced."
"Excuse me. You should thank me instead of accusing me."
"Thank you? Why should I thank you? The excuse you gave was a lame one."
"Unbelievable", Arnav started taking a step forward while Khushi took a step back. "You are accusing me when you are the one who was at fault. You had dared me to kiss you in a drunken state. Do you want me to tell everyone? It was you who had kissed me first and called me a coward. And now, you were the one to hug me."
By the time Arnav finished, Khushi was backed against the wall. Yeah, they strictly followed the rule of one stepping ahead while the other moving backwards till she hit the wall. Now Chilli was just a few inches apart from Jalebi.
"So Khushi Kumari Gupta, stop accusing me for the situation we are in."
A few seconds passed with them being at the same position. The silence was broken by none other than Jalebi.
"You are right. I should decide about the job offer. I think I will remain at RHF."
Chilli was left gobsmacked at Jalebi's reply. He knew she was a bit sanki but to jump from one context to another within a fraction of a second was really insane.
"Khushi, did you hit your head on the wall really that badly now? Did you forget what we were discussing now?"
"What? No."
"Then where the hell is this you-remaining-at-RHF-or-not coming from?"
"Offo! I didn't know Arnav Singh Raizada was this slow."
"Khushi", Arnav said sternly.
"Okay. We cannot deny that we kissed but we can try out the person who had taken the picture in Singapore. The person must be from the team who went to Singapore with us. It is clear that someone is trying to frame us."
"Frame? Hasn't that person as well as our family members assumed right? I mean we had been kissing right? What framing is that?"
The mention of the 'k' word would have made Khushi blush. That was few days back. Now all she had been hearing was K for Kids, if not K for Khushi. Maybe she should start using K for Kill, and maybe try doing that to Arnav. People forget that K for Kite is the basic.
"Who will try to frame us? And for what reason?" Arnav prodded further.
"That is what we have to find out, Genius Raizada", Khushi replied coolly, "But of course, you are too busy for these petty jobs. So I will try to find out who did this and then confront that person. Then I will pressurise him or her to tell that we had not kissed and that person had morphed the pictures."
"Okaayy", Arnav said stretching the last "ay" a bit longer than normal.
"What? You don't like my plan? Never mind. Even if you don't like it, I am going to find out who is behind all this. Hmph!"
"Do whatever you want Khushi. Just don't create more problems. Now let us go to the sangeet or someone else will walk in on us and assume something else. Oh! By the way, how do you know if I am slow or fast?" Chilli winked. He walked away smirking leaving a stupefied Khushi behind.
