Very true.. and although i do like that quality of his, in the case i really dont.. he really is a great guy to think of shikha's happiness before his.. but still.. i wish he wouldnt do that sometimes

Sam's entry into his life has made Abhi lie on a few occasions. First he lied in the court martial episode when Sam was in trouble. Now he supposedly lies again. Kaisa yeh pyar hai?

More than a promise, Abhi seems to be treating this as an order. Like he must obey it or else he'll have broken the rules. We know Abhi doesn't break rules 99.999999999% of the time.
