Not sure whether they have any contacts with LTTE or not but for me what's important is the fact that they were holding a peaceful protest when they were arrested and treated like criminals. IMO India should act more forcefully in such issues. They may not be Indian by nationality but their own govt. is discriminating against them for being Indian, so why not support them.

I don't think India should directly get involved in other country's affairs. We already did one huge mistake in Sri Lanka. Any country's conflicts based on color/creed/origin etc. is their internal matter. Just like we don't appreciate our neighbor's concerns over our minority.

In India the govt. does not discriminate based on someones land of origin. When it comes to religious issues, other countries, neighbouring or otherwise, do interfere in our affairs whether we like it or not. So, why should India be the one who is expected to show restraint all the time. US had nothing to do with Afghanisthan or Iraq and what was happening there. Yet they did attack them. When there was apartheid in South Africa all countries isolated them even though it didn't concern them in any way, so what's so bad if India pressurise the Malaysian govt. And as for Sri Lanka, the IPKF acted against the LTTE (people of Indian origin) not the SL govt. I don't know what you're talking about comparing these two.

On why can't India if other countries do it then I would say 'Two wrongs don't make a right'. We can't have two different policies on similar situations.

The point I was making here is interference whether on behalf of govt. or terrorists is not well taken by the other and ultimately a threat to our internal security.
