Aug 1st: Even saints lose patience sometimes

A more tense episode today, and we got to see a different side of Abhishek...I know there has been some discussion around whether Abhishek as a character was too good to be true...well he's not, today we got to see a very human Abhishek...who loses patience in the middle of this madhouse as any average person would.

A few bits in particular that stood out today:

1) Aman expectedly is a douchebag😆...the way he treated the Pant family like servants pretty much established that...although on the surface the two cousins were prattling on about andar ki sundarta and what not simply to stop the guy from seeing Meera, it gave some insight into what Aman's thoughts actually are...only interested in seeing Meera cuz he found her FB pic pretty😆

2) For all their (many) faults, the madcap Pants rally around in times of crises like no one's business...lol the way they all swarmed around Meera, fussing over her, trying to figure out how to fix her allergic reaction...was endearing to watch...

Even Meera reflected on that as she smiled over all of them fussing over her...so it seems Meera was a bit of a neglected child b/w her always busy father and no-nonsense mom...maybe the fact that they were such independent individuals themselves, they expected the same of their children...and maybe somewhere Meera missed out on that warmth and nurturing of a family...which is why she was touched by that today.

3) I felt the most sorry for Abhishek today...your heart goes out to the guy as he's let down on ALL fronts...from Ramraj who when confronted over giving Meera the groundnut oil, shamelessly taunts Abhi back about how his father leaving didn't change anything for the family either...Abhishek's face there just breaks your heart...and later on when the cousins are all fighting childishly as usual...for the first time we see an Abhishek at his wit's end who then lets them have it...lashes out at their perpetual immaturity and inability to look at the bigger picture.

And you realize that the guy who tries so hard tirelessly day and night to earn for this family, to keep it together...he has his breaking point too...such a human touch added to Abhi's character today...honestly I don't how this guy is still sane...lol

Rohan seems to have run off in a huff and bechaare Abhi ke yeh haalat hai that he can't even fully run after him cuz as always he's stopped by some other person or problem along the way.

Precap seems to indicate that Meera may bring Rohan back tomorrow and possibly ask for a genuine waali smile from Abhi in exchange for staying back at Pant bhavan😆

Another thought that came to me while watching was that despite her random, whimsical ways, Meera is a pretty obedient kid...one word from her family and she usually gives in...as she did when asked to leave the homestay...Namita appears a bit blank in scenes which need her to emote more with her eyes...this was especially apparent in the scene today when Meera asks Abhi if she should take the anti-allergy pill...PJ is much more expressive than her at this point. Scope for some improvement there but still a decent job overall.

I never really thought of Abhi as a good guy or a bad guy, he is a regular Middle class boy who is strapped between earning for his family, guilt about his father and trying to keep everyone intact. I am curious what circumstances pushed him to be so proactive to take the lead, was it the guilty of not being a burden to the family, or what because both his parents , yes mom too -might seem to be redundant for the family and 4 mouths to feed still. Apart from that he genuinely likes all of them , thats what families are, atleast my impression of joint family.

Meera- Actually I mentioned it earlier somewhere, the girl misses warmth of a family During her result she quipped how they were all having lunch together and that be a silver lining. Guess the grass is greener , the other side thing here. Because we know her family cares and she is a good child but she seems to be neglected in the hustle bustle of a city life and in a family of over achievers. Odd one out. Hence her smile and love for Pant family's bonding and their craziness. Will be fun to watch how she adapts to this because again- nuclear family gives you much more freedom and Meera is flighty.

Aman was a d-bag but meh such crassness from the guy. Wasn't expecting something different.

Abhishek- I am so glad with this. The anger was seeping in many times. The wall, the 1000 Rs note his cousins once tore ..you could see the sketches of it . He was frustrated but the way today his Uncle hit him in the gut about his dad- not cool. Actually , the family does have unresolved tension over that issue. Abhishek has grown with this simmering awareness , hence probably wanted to be Bade Bhaiyya.

Meera is going to bond with Rohan , get him back and slowly move back with this family and they will find their dynamics.

Meera is an interesting character, she like Abhi loves her family..really a wonder how this marriage will happen.

This is the portion when your heart really goes out to the guy..."Hum log itne bade nahin hain ki in galtiyon ki keemat chuka sakein"

And the sheer shamelessness of Ramraj is mind-boggling...or maybe that just makes the way he hit Abhi at his most vulnerable spot in order to make him back off all the more heartwrenching...PJ acted quite well here in portraying that.

Based on what was shown today, yes the family definitely has some unresolved tension over the issue of Abhi's dad leaving...but it is also apparent that the uncles have shamelessly used that very fact to exploit and bully Abhi in many ways too...that really was my fav. scene in the whole epi today...Abhi's face when he finds out his uncle was responsible for sending the peanut oil and the little hesitation before he then directly broaches it with his uncle...Ramraj lords both his age and stature over Abhi to get away with his bullshit...and even then Abhi tries to earnestly put forth his point...only to be ruthlessly shut down by his uncle who guilt-trips him over his father leaving...as if that was Abhi's fault...and ultimately Abhi has no choice but to back down.

The responsibility has both been forced on him by guilt-tripping him into it and given the sincere guy he is, Abhi has taken ownership as well...but his nikammi family doesn't make it easy for him even then.

Sarcastically clapping Abhi was quite the revelation today😆..."Waah mere akkalmandon"...so fed up he is with their idiocy.

But how sad was the bit when Rohan pushed him away and then ran off...bechara Abhi...trying so hard to fix things and everything falling apart...ab toh isko Meera hi bachaayegi😆

I meant this little bit here where I guess they were trying to show a moment of connection as Meera placed that trust in Abhi and pointedly ignored Aman...but I felt the acting to be a ever so slightly blank from Namita's end...can't place my finger on whether it was the expressions or a little too casual dialogue delivery.

On a different note, she was looking like a dulhan sitting there happily getting haldi put on her by Pant family😆

I feel they went a tad overboard with the family squabbling scenes today...the intention might have been to set up Abhishek finally losing it at the immaturity all around him, but it was a little irritating to sit through nonetheless.😆And they seemed to be rushing through Meera's reactions too- the part where she compares her family's reaction to her allergy with the Pants' , felt a bit shoddily executed in comparison to the rest of the episode.
That said, it was nice to see the Pants fussing over her though, and her so happy to be the center of attention...I am guessing individual space is not going to be a problem for Meera when she eventually does become part of this madcap family, since she seems to have no problems sharing her room and her things with Avni, who she's just met and hardly talked to.😕

The scene with Ramraj was the highlight, definitely. One of the most intense scenes the show has given us this far.PJ (😆) is no doubt doing a great job shouldering the show at the moment, but the actor playing Ramraj has been great too...he has the feel of those fantastic character actors we usually get to see only in ALR films nowadays. There's some deep-seated resentment in Ramraj about being abandoned by his elder brother, but he also uses it as his trump card to shut down Abhishek. It is ironic though, what R said about nothing changing even if people leave...nobody in this family seems to be capable of letting Abhishek leave even if he wants to, as was clear in the last scene.

I liked the scene between Abhi and Meera, actually. It felt more like an interlude in the middle of the chaos in the room and I thought Namita's reactions were apt considering Meera was having difficulty talking through all the swelling. Felt there was a spot of chemistry too.😆Nice to see Meera has so quickly singled him out as the responsible one and taken to trusting Abhishek's word too.

^Loved these bits today. PJ is really impressing me with the sheer variety of expressions he's managed in such a short span of time, while keeping it subtle.

P.S- Five seconds of silence for the part where Rohan pushes Abhi away and runs out. 💔This bond is my favorite at the moment and it was just sad to witness how even the most loving of relationships are sometimes unable to bear the weight of the world and its problems.

@Box: LOL and when is the Pant family squabbling not irritating to sit through? Today felt more or less along the usual lines that they've been on since day one...they were acting just as lame in week 1 too...inka roz ka hai...maybe it felt more irritating today given what was at stake and it was one of those days where everything possible was going wrong for Abhi without a resolution in sight.

PJ is doing fantastic so far...which is why Namita/Meera's character needs a little more nuance to match up...she's endearing ofcourse when she's in her happy go lucky element but given that we've already seen many shades to Abhi beyond just being the good responsible bade bhaiyya, it's high time we see more to Meera too...that is if there is more out there😆...

To your point about her scenes being rushed through...could be...but I feel the acting is a little too casual in some ways to make enough of an impact...this Abhi guy manages to make an impact n 3 seconds of changing expressions in any bit he's given...that's kinda the point I was getting at...that "moment" of "chemistry" today if you will, she could have brought more to it either with her eyes or voice...chalo voice can be let go cuz of the swollen face...but I would just like to see something more compelling in Meera...I also didn't quite like how meekly she randomly agreed to leave just cuz her sister asked her to...otherwise she was all for defying her sister by staying in the homestay to begin with😕...that bit felt kinda abrupt and mainly the thing is that you don't really get a full sense of connection from Meera right now towards anyone...like her mind is so casual that she will smile at someone one second and next second it's like out of sight, out of mind for her...thoda thehraav is needed with her character.

Re: supporting cast...most of the senior actors are doing a great job, no doubt...Ramraj included.

My heart just broke over all for Abhi today...Rohan scene included...the guy was just let down on all fronts by everyone...Rohan ka reaction was expected given how mercurial he is...bound to happen with his autism.

Yes tum saath ho.. it was. 😆 Did you watch the last episode, it got over in a jiffy.

Right now feel so bad for Abhi He has so many responsibilities and has no outlet to vent out his anger. All four brothers seems to be good for nothing. The kids and daughter in laws atleast contribute and help Abhi.

The week began on quite different tone, didn't it? Felt so bad for Abhishek, especially in that moment with her chacha. Wonder why him and others keep stating that to Abhishek like it was his fault that his father left the house? I am intrigued to know about that. As you mentioned, PJ (lol) emotes fantastically with his eyes and his facial expressions, Meera seems to lag in that department. She does very well in her up beat moments but she seemed a little low in that scene you mentioned. May be it was due to the swelling but she could have used her eyes, like PJ, to bring in more depth to the moment. Oh well, it's only one moment so far, hopefully she'll catch up as more such moments arrive.

@the scene with cousins arguing and Abhishek's outburst-- Another well acted moment from PJ, especially that bit where he walks away in the corner and then, being totally fed up, sarcastically claps and lets out his frustration. We saw some bits of him loosing his cool in the first episode when his cousins argue and end up tearing the bill. When we, as viewers, can get irked with that, can only imagine how irritating it would be for Abhishek. That Kapil guy seems to be the most annoying of them all, he's out and out selfish unlike the other younger ones.

@Rohan's outburst-- yeah that was bound to happen with his autism. Still, it was heartbreaking to see him push his bade bhaiya that way. You can't help but feel for Abhishek in that moment. He is seriously overwhelmed and you can sense it just with his body language and facial expressions.

It will be interesting to see if Meera manages to sense Abhishek's frustration somehow and alleviates it in her own way. So you think her condition is a genuine smile on his face? I thought she already saw that with the feather scene.
