Yes, 2 era's are being discussed. For BOI, golden era was 60-80, it is mocking this current era. Same is done by offbeat cinema lovers who declare this era to be golden because of quality of cinema which they believe has now come with films like badlapur, haider, nh10.

For me, they are right in a way, now we have promotions, internet to spread posters, music, videos, tv shows to reach millions at home, telling them this film is coming. Yet, very few section of audience turn up for films. One can be the reason for not offering them same kind of entertainment which 60's films had for repeat audience, one can be for inflated lifestyles, now ticket rates touch sky.

A film is just 3 hrs long, how come ppl get entertain in 60's just depending on those 3 hours.

BOI must be having some senior reporter who must have seen Rajesh Khanna's stardom craze, that's why comparisons are drawn.

Kala chashma got 4.3 million views in 1 day on youtube, that is quite a number, which shows audience is there, you need to get them to theatres.

Writing department is terrible, usually they copy paste, lots of mistakes, this i will agree with u.

Well said.

Then on top its said these films are appreciated but how can these films be appreciated if hardly anybody has seen them. None crossed 50 lakh footfalls in theatres and less said about television results the better. You can only have appreciation if you have an audience. The longevity in the golden era was measured through repeat runs and today that has been replaced by television.

when you know footfall pattern has changed over time, then for what f*** sake you take footfalls and multiply by average ticket price to arrive at collections for movies like HAHK and other blockbusters in 90s?

That is adjusted inflation figures, that doesn't mean actual collection. It is done by all box office websites, boxofficemojo also does that in same way. Gone with the wind is biggest film when you see inflation figures.

Current domestic record holder star wars isn't in top 10, you can see their calculation also based on this concept.

i m not very sure but based on my memory, i beg to differ... when i checked last in a post from lakhan quoting BOI data it was footfalls multiplied by avg ticket price currently... avg ticket price currently will take care of inflation but then the business has changed to the extent that footfall needs to be revised downwards..

Mujhe jaad kiya tumne 😆

Buddy Footfalls of FILM remains as it is, footfalls which BOI is talking is about current films. You can't ask them to multiply footfalls of current films with Ticket price. Adjusted inflation comes when u multiply that particular film's Footfalls to ATP.

ATP - It is taken today's price

Film - footfalls - When it is released, it is FIXED.

ATP changes every year, so does inflation change.

Agreed on atp but footfall has changed over time with tv playing movies within 1-2 months, piracy making movie available on the day of release or even before, internet making pirated copies spread worldwide in seconds... My point is, if a movie that can be as successful as hahk is released today, it will have way less footfalls den what it did originally... That's precisely what boi is referring to as well...

For me, using atp and multiplying by atp is utter nonsense...
