Why the sudden change in Pushkar?

Before I delve into the topic, I want to say that I am loving the show right now, and as always, my faith in the writers is intact. I love the way this show is written, the way the characters have been built and the way the story is shaping up. Suman's conversation with Ramnath was bang on. Shravan's desperation to catch hold of Suman and just let go of the secret he's kept to himself, it hits you right on point. This post is just a random observation, because I love Pushkar too much.

Pushkar has been one character that I have loved more than ShraMan at times. The guy just bowls you over because not only he is the biggest shipper of our favourite couple, but also because he has been the voice of reason for Shravan when he needed it the most, he has been Shravan's conscience whenever he digressed from the right path, he never shied away from showing his brother the reality of situation and boldly voiced his opinions on what was wrong and what was right. These are the reasons we cannot help but love Pushkar for the sweetness and righteousness he carries in his heart.

But lately, Pushkar's character has taken a 180 degree turn and he is behaving in the most non-Pushkar-like way.

First off, how did Pushkar not see the set of unreasonable demands his mother put forward for Preeti's family? At some level Kamini's demands are justified, she may have exaggerated them with the mindset of getting rid of this alliance, but all the mothers do want their sons to get married with lots of pomp and show. But why did Pushkar not realise that those demands are too taxing for Preeti's family? I can understand Preeti not bothering about the expenses, she usually has been like this, not that it makes her insensitive because the girl loves Suman and her family, but somewhere along the line, there are things she ignores when it really matters. Pushkar not being bothered is a new for me, he has seen the Tiwaris almost as much as Shravan, then why could an intelligent man like Pushkar not take a stand against Kamini's demands? Shravan clearly saw the discomfort of the Tiwari clan, so how did Pushkar miss it?

Secondly, today Pushkar saying all what he did to Shravan about Preeti being so understanding, where did that come from? It is pretty obvious Preeti is the dominant one in their relation. Pushkar more often than not meekly agrees with her, then where did the whole misunderstanding of understanding and cooperation crop up from?

I still love Pushkar and I think the story is going at the perfect pace. But if someone could explain to me if Pushkar is really behaving unlike himself, or is it just me, I'd appreciate it. Because I could let go of the second instance, but the first is just bothering me.

Completely agree with ya. There was a time when Pushkar was unanimously liked by every fan. But he's just being an idiot now.

I think Pushkar has never been assertive for himself...but is ready to do the same for Shravan. He's never been shown having any strong convictions. Shravan...on the contrary is very assertive about his...even if he may be wrong at times.

And Pushkar has always been silent before his mom...except that notable instance when he argued for Shravan's share I the property. He can take a stand for others...but not himself. Mami pointed this out when she said that Pushkar's mouth doesn't even open in front of his mom.

Regarding the money issue...I guess he's still elated about his love succeeding miraculously. He's still in the rosy phase where everything is hunky dory. Even today he said that Preeti is very understanding and concurs with him on everything. The reality is that the two are in puppy love and lack the steady foundation and mutual understanding that ShraMan have.

I.agree.with you.. The behaviour of.ramntha.and kamini.is understandable and bearable coz.their character growth were constant and we knew what to expect from them but with pushkar there is no continuity... He is behaving like a completely different character...

It's true that Pushkar has never been assertive for himself, but he was supposed to stand up for Preeti and her family. I am so shocked love has made him turn a blind eye towards everything that is going on.

Yeah, he's always loved his mom too muxh to say anything except that one time.

Preekar can never match what ShraMan have in their relationship. ShraMan's relationship has stood past the test of time. These two are at a place where Preekar can never even think about going, because they wouldn't know what that place is.

Thank you for agreeing which means I am not seeing things.
Pushkar was a character out of league, but now he's become one out of my understanding.

I agree too that it does see like in love pushkar is conpletely opposite to the single pushkar. Although he was always the mummas boy (neither of the boys could be otherwise given her nature) his approach to life and his thoughts were always clear, he was always able to clearly distinguish between right and wrong and had no qualms in pointing that out. Until preeti happened to him he seemed to be the sanest and most rationale person in Malhotra house and quite cute too. Now it's like he's done a Volte face.

What have they done to him now - he seems so one dimensional now just like preeti and Varun. Wouldn't have felt this way had they left his character undeveloped like varuns but his was written so well with some of the best lines, cannot understand why have they done this to him.

Andwhy isn't he opening his mouth about the destination wedding demand of his moms beats me.And those comments about preeti were just so shallow. Used to enjoy his camaraderie and repartee with shravan and sumo but now just can't bear both him and preeti each time they come on screen. It's like they are unfairly consuming all the screen time what ought to have been ShraMans :)
