Devdas will always be special, says Shah Rukh Khan

Reminiscing the film Devdas, Shah Rukh took to micro-blogging site Twitter to thank the director and the cast.

On the 14th anniversary of the release of Devdas on Tuesday (July 12), it's lead actorShah Rukh Khan said the 2002 Bollywood film will always be special to him.

"Devdas" directed by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, tells the story about a man named Devdas, who is in love with Paro since childhood. But when Devdas's family doesn't approve of their relationship, he leaves the house and seeks refuge at a brothel, owned by Chandramukhi.

Reminiscing the film, Shah Rukh took to micro-blogging site Twitter to thank the director and the cast.

"Devdas' will always be special. Thank you Bhansali...the beautiful ladies and everyone. Late nights, long shoots and so much love," he tweeted.

The film saw actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the role of Paro, Devdas's love interest and Madhuri Dixit Nene as Chandramukhi, a courtesan who falls in love with the 50-year-old actor's onscreen character.

Based on the 1917 Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel "Devdas", the film also featured Kirron Kher and Jackie Shroff among many others in pivotal roles.

SLB movies are not my cup of tea 🥱 even shahrukh can't persuade me to watch them ...atleast in devdas case .

SRK was good yaar, aisa mat kaho

@bold ...there is no doubt about that .

But movie was a bigger torture for me considering i already knew the story and sad stories are not my cup of tea specially period ones , shahrukh dying in the end and on top of that biggest factor SANJAY LEELA BHANSALI ...too much to bear

But he died in Bazigaar, KHNH?🤔 and also Dil se?

Thats good to hear but doubtful of that to happen. Since Khan heroines are getting younger and younger😆😆 and Aish is getting older.

I rate it in one of his better movies.
