Sorry it took me a while to be back as I wasn't well. I am a bit under the weather but apart from that I feel better and thank you for your warm wishes as well.
Anyways last night's episode opened up so much that I was honestly itching to write it all down. The brothers especially Shivaay and Omkara are so much more than what we have seen them to be as of yet.
So I was right, Shivaay did use the situation with Anika to his advantage; trying to blackmail her into submission. He is a man without scruples when it comes to proving his point over the others and shielding the ones he loves. The situation according to him could have gone out of hand had that been an armed intruder instead of Anika, so he treats Anika in a similar manner. Showing no remorse over throwing her in the lock-up for a night. Barring the obvious you should look at the undercurrents of the same. Shivaay isn't someone who has tried to or seen the world with rose-tinted glasses. He is someone who has seen cold and colder world. And in a world such as that, this is exactly how you function. He is used to crush people under his little toe without them protesting.
Anika is the first challenge that he isn't able to accept or rise above to. So instead of crushing her under his feet, he is trying to crush her spirit underneath him. He gets her arrested and walks away as though nothing of importance had happened. You can see a flicker of guilt crosses him when Priyanka and Rudra point out that Anika was innocent and he made a mistake of superlative degree into having her arrested, but being the cold man that he is, his guilt are overcome by the supposed theory of his that says "main aisi ladkiyon ko ache se jaanta hoon."
Om tries to reason with him saying that he is going against his own principles trying to bring Anika down. He makes it clear that Shivaay is tearing apart the very fabric that says to one and all "nafrat bhi ek rishta hai jo barabari waalon ke saath nibhaya jaata hai". I both agree and disagree with Omkara here. Omkara was bang on when he said Anika has begun toying with his psyche in most unimaginable manners. Anika is a challenge that Shivaay isn't able to accept or is unable to rise above, this is what irks him as it isn't in his nature to falter at the face of something such as this. I disagree with Om as Shivaay isn't in love with her. There is nothing romantic or decadent about Anika that would attract her to him; all he is trying to do is make her confess that she accepts defeat.
For people who have been used to winning, either by hook or crook, it is not easy to take down defeat just like that. Either they go about playing by the rules or they break them all to win. For it is not the path but win that matters at the end of the day. Shivaay might mellow down a bit but he will never leave behind the basic characteristic of his that has been defining him for so long.
Anika on the other hand is a girl with a never say die attitude. She cries, she feels pain, she get upsets but that doesn't impede her thought processes that say, "I will not give up". What I particularly like about her she braves the test of fire, knowing that this is the only test that would separate the chaffs. But the makers aren't exploring her showing the zeal that defines her.
Two things that I'd like to point out. Yes, it is true that you cannot arrest a woman from 6 P.M. to 6 A.M. but there is an exception to this rule that says the arrest can happen if there are lady constables present and you have a arrest warrant. While lady constables were present, I did not see the arrest warrant. And secondly there was a major editing glitch. Shivaay had been holding Anika's right hand in a vice like grip so how come welts appeared on her left one? Jumping bruises or what??
Anyways skipping over it, the scene then quickly switches over the a certain Richa Chandra from Daily India calling Shivaay, to blackmail him with a scandalous MMS clip of Tej an Svetlana. Shivaay is angered and venomous in equal measures at seeing the clip. But you can see he is hurt when Tej mentions that he will divorce Jhanvi and marry Svetlana. That tiny moment was enough to tell us that Shivaay in all realities loves his Badi Ma and doesn't want her to be hurt or pained. He felt bad seeing the nefarious plans his uncle had been raving about. He hides it from Om fearing this would act as a set-back into his healing process. He agrees to pay 50 Crores and threatens that if the clip gets out that Richa woman will have to deal with him closing the chapter then and there.
And then the engagement ceremony begins and surprising one and all Jhanvi and Pinki break into a dance; happily celebrating Shivaay's nuptial. That one scene was enough to tell us that Jhanvi is a rare woman. She has been trying to survive the cuts that time has given her yet she steals away moments to celebrate whatever little happiness comes along her way. She must love Shivaay like Omkara and Rudra to radiate such a happy glow on her face. I love her more and more with each passing day. And man her dresses give you such fashion goals. That brocade dupatta on a plain anarkali was so damn pretty! Give her stylist a cookie!
And then the scar-waali-aunty makes an appearance. Let me tell you she is a dumb villain. What was the need for her to be physically present while bombing the car? If she had any brains she would have rigged the Oberoi security into getting their hands dirty and not do the task herself. And what lousy security team man? An intruder is there in the premises since last night and there was no alarm bell ringing? Issey ache toh hum middle-class folks ke Bahaadur honety hain.
And they screwed the basic physics as well. Get real writers, stand that close to an explosion and no one is going to survive not even Iron Man. Shivaay should have died on the spot and the impact of the blast should have given Omkara and Rudra severe gash killing them slowly. It was sedan that was blown apart, not some phuski bomb for heaven sakes! Did the writers fail their science exams or what?
Saahil deserves special mention; he is his sister's brother.
And hey I just realized Oberoi Mansion in Mumbai is nothing but Khurrana Mansion recycled. Remember Man Singh Khurrana's residence in Delhi???
And Ya mere Maula, itni khoosoorat Eidi? If Twinkle is indeed out then please have Shital Shah or Pooja Sharma opposite Omkara. They both are power-house performers and look mature enough to be opposite our intense hero!
