"The judges' marks said I shouldn't be in the competition" - Sonali Kulkarni

This gorgeous actress was never happy with the marks she got from the judges. We often heard her complain about them being unfair, but before she could answer them even the janta turned their backs on her. Sonali was eliminated from Jhalak and the heartbroken lady cried buckets. We spoke to her even before she could dry her eyes.

Did the elimination come as a shock to you?

I was defiantly hoping to go to the finals. And that was how we were working—rehearsing for eight hours everyday. Moreover, everybody liked our performance. No one ever told us that this or that could have been better. So naturally I thought, with the people's support, we should be able to go ahead.

You turned a little aggressive lately. Was it an uprising against the judges?

I don't think this is a competition about talking. I was never aggressive. I just tried to perform better and better every time. This is a reality show, so the anchors ask you a few questions and you answer them. I never intended to talk more than I work.

But you did say that the judges were not giving you enough marks.

If I hadn't said anything, do you think it would have been right? Because the performances should be weighed on an equal scale. I just felt that they were expecting a little too much from me… being an actor it was felt that I should be the best dancer also. I would like to remind them that it was the first time that I was learning any dance form. I just reminded them to please use the same scale for all of us.

I never doubt anybody's position or authority in any field. Frankly it was not a doubt, it was just a question. Probably they felt I should not be in the competition at all. That was a little disheartening and I spoke my mind.

You were pitted against Sandhya. Was there a rivalry?

Not at all because Sandhya is everybody's friend and she cheers for all of us. She is a fantastic dancer, there is no doubt about it. So is everybody who is in the finals now.

How was it working with Toby? He is supposed to be the best.

Yes, I really think I was lucky to be paired with the best because I don't think I will ever find a partner like Toby. He comes up with the most beautiful ideas in choreography. I am definitely lucky.

Are your fans going to see more of Sonali the dancer in movies?

I would like to… but right now I am not in the state of mind to think about what I am going to do in movies. I would like to, let's see… it depends on the kind of offers that will come my way. I hope I am noticed as a dancer now.

Where will we catch Sonali in the future?

There are lots of movies which are ready to release. I hope they do well. I am also really happy that this new way of expression has opened up for me.

Any message for your fans?

I genuinely want to thank each one of them for voting for me. I feel I have a long way to go in my career and I'll do justice to their love.

She does seem more positive about the situation now. This whole reality show engineered some drama for sure. In fact Rituparna Sengupta, Sonali, and Sandhya all worked on Hindi film in Calcutta called BBD. Whatever one can say against her, she is one fine actress so I am sure she will continue to do good work on that fron. 👏

Its good that she has taken this Elimination in a positive manner 👏 👏 ...She is really a very talented Actress and hoping to see her in some more Meaningful Cinema now 😊

she sounds really nice on her interview, but her facial expressions were saying somthing else on the show tho. i guess now that she is out she has learned to live with it and moved on. thats a good thing
