Chapter 26, The Movie date
Suman was taking clothes from the open terrace. Yes she was doing the activity, but her mind was racing
" What was Sreedhar upto." She was not very sure whether the family knew Sreedhar and his hera pheris. What she had heard about Sreedhar when she entered college and the way she had experienced him, he was not straight the way he looked. No he hadn't done any bad for anyone , he has used his tedha methods to help someone or yes to have private moments with her. But he does tedha medha things. She wanted to know it. Somehow she wanted to know it, what trouble he is inviting . Then an idea stuck her.
That night everyone was at dinner table. As she served Sreedhar she discreetly kept a chit under his plate. Sreedhar took it in his hands as soon as she passed. He was sitting at the fag end of the table and looking at everyone busy with something he just opened the chit
" What are you upto. Don't play with fire. Please I am worried " he rolled the paper. He looked in her direction and she was looking at him with an accusing glance.
" Vindhya Bhabi. You wanted to watch DDLJ right "
" Yes Sreedhar Vindhya jumped at the mention of the movie. I have been telling from past 1 year, I want to watch movie. Nobody brings any video cassette here. This VCR is name sake. You know all the ladies in the Moholla have watched the movie. Will you bring the cassette"
" Sreedhar now don't make things hard for me. She already has seen enough Bollywood movies and except me to walk her the way those Bollywood heroes walk their ladies. And I have heard from friends that if these ladies see Raj Malhotra sure it is family break up . I am telling now itself Vindhya I wont sit hungry for Karvachawth fast " told Sudhir
" Sreedhar your Bhaiyya will tell so many things. As if he does something for me. You get me the cassette"
" Sreedhar I have also heard that movie is really good. Get the cassette naa" told Renuka
" Ok fine this weekend we will have DDLJ at home. "
" But Sreedhar this weekend evening we have the community meeting and you know the issue " told Tilak
" Exactly that is why I told we will have DDLJ at home " he looked straight at Suman and Suman kept her hand on the head looking away. " Senorita Is bade bade duniya mein aisi choti choti cheezen hoti rahti hain " completed Sreedhar as everyone burst laughing
Suman came back to her room. So as she suspected he has the Tedha plans. DDLJ. Yes it was their first successful date outside. A complete tedha medha plan by him. Suman closed her eyes
" Sreedhar I wont come. I have to get in the hostel at 7 pm. You have bought first show tickets"
" Arrey do you know I have standing in the reservation queue for past 2 weeks together to get these tickets. You know how difficult it is to get tickets for this movie. I didn't even go with Kailash, Shalini and gang because I wanted to watch it with you "
" How did they get tickets for weekend. You didn't get "
" Do you have brains in your head Sumi. I want to have some private time with you. Enjoy the best romantic movie of our times exclusively with you. They were willing to sit even in front row and watch. I wanted box tickets for us "
" Fine I will come. But tell me how will you manage to ensure I don't get caught by warden. If any news goes to my home "
He caught her by waist and Suman kept her arm on his shoulder " Sumi do you think I will put even a speck of dirt on you. Don't worry. I have spoken to Shalini and Gayatri. They together with Aleena will do what is necessary. You just follow them". " Now go to hostel, get ready and come "
She went to hostel. Checked her wardrobe what to wear. Aleena was teasing. But Suman was in a different world. What will he like. It seemed like her wardrobe didn't had anything that looked perfect for the evening. Finally after searching she took a peacock blue salwar and left her hair open with matching earrings, chain and a single bangle. She was thinking whether to keep bindi or not while the senior brigade walked in.
" Suman ready." asked Shalini while Gayatri took the bindi packet and kept a matching bindi on her forehead " Don't keep Shringaar adhura. Better to have poora Solah Sringaar " Suman blushed.
' Suman you will have to jump the wall of the hostel when the security is not around the area. First throw your sandals on the other side. Then we will bring a small stool, climb on it, jump. I will be with you while Shalini will observe the security. Aleena today in mess just tell that Suman is having a headache she wont have dinner " told Gayatri
" But didi after movie I need food "
" You idiot girl, do you think Sreedhar will drop you hungry. Go enjoy watch movie and have dinner and come. We will be up to get you in the same way" quipped Shalini.
As planned Suman came out of the hostel and Sreedhar was waiting for her with the bike. She got in the bike keeping her hand on his shoulder. They sat next to next on the box leaning against each other and holding hands
" Sreedhar if you want me you will have to please my dad like this " teased Suman
" Really. Are you telling I am already in your dad's bad books then"
" Not like that Sreedhar, but in my family a girl don't have right to dream"
" But you will dream, look at the screen he pulled her closer to him and she leaned on his shoulders as the song " Mehendi laga ke rekhna played on the screen "
" Sumi Mehendi bhi lagake rekhna aur dholi bhi saja ke rekhna. Your sajan will come for you " she looked into his intense eyes, deeply looking at her. She blushed asking him to concentrate on the movie
Sreedhar I have put mehendi also, and my dholi is also taken. Now neither mehendi is in my hands nor anything else. But she knew there was no point as she wiped her tears. Their movie date was a success. She had entered the hostel the way she went at 11 pm and well except the concerned people no one knew about it. So whatever his plan is, he is sure of success. Else he wouldn't have told DDLJ so confidently
