Kabir Khan's Tubelight, starring Salman and Sohail Khan, goes on floors this July. The film, set in the 1960s, will first camp at Ladakh, later moving on to Kashmir. An insider shared more details... WAR-TIME FLICK "The film is based at the backdrop of the Sino-Indian war of 1962, where a disputed Himalayan border served as the main pretext for the war," our source reveals. Our khabroo quickly adds, "It isn't a political saga. It's more a human drama." NOT MUTE Speculation was rife that Sohail plays a mute character in Tubelight. But our source contradicts this. "Sohail and Salman play brothers in the film, but Sohail is not playing a mute guy at all." WE HAVE A HEROINE! There were also stories about Tubelight being a no-heroine film and just revolving around Sohail and Salman's characters. But that's untrue. "The heroine's role isn't that meaty, but there will be a leading lady in the film whose role will be impactful." Has Kabir finalised the actress? "He's in talks with someone and mostly it will work out. It's an offbeat casting, something that people won't predict. They will announce the heroine much later because the first schedule won't require her anyway." SALMAN WANTS, SALMAN GETS! Salman loved the way Kabir shot virgin locations in Kashmir in Bajrangi Bhaijaan. He's already given his director a strict diktat: "Salman wants to explore the unexplored locations of Ladakh and Kashmir and for the film, he's asked Kabir to scout for such places to shoot." nayandeep.rakshit@dnaindia.net |
