The past few episodes, basically the ones with Suman's accident and her consequential illness, haven't been my favourite, but I loved them no matter what.
Suman and Shravan had come at a crossroad where they'd rather jump off a cliff than admit that they made an unintentional mistake. In my opinion, something very big and life-threatening had to happen for the duo to forget their ego and respond to the need of the hour.
Suman's accident was just the perfect solution. Shravan would have made sure Suman was back to normal even if he didn't harbour any guilt regarding her accident. He may have momentarily hated her for causing such a distress to his family, but even if he didn't feel guilty about her accident, he would have nursed her no matter what. I believe the guilt was added in the story to instigate his feelings further, to give them the much needed push as well as so that Shravan has a good reason to convince Ramnath to let him help Suman.
PCT is Suman's life and there is no denying that. By jeopardising PCT's existence, Shravan caused an injury so painful to Suman that is more fatal than death. For Suman to forgive Shravan, something had to happen that was bigger than PCT. Now Suman may not consider her own well-being bigger than PCT's, but truth is Shravan helped Suman get through a time when she'd given up on her own life, let alone PCT. She may be pissed off at him, but she also cannot ignore the backbone he has been for her, finally causing her to come back to her normal self.
So I feel that the accident was very important for ShraMan to take a step forward, towards each other.
Now, there's one more thing. This sequence also showed that Shravan knows how much PCT meant to Suman. Somewhere at the back of her mind Suman is bound to think that if Shravan realises the vitality of PCT in her life, he would never really go ahead and take it from her. I am hoping the writers used one stone to kill two birds.
But I dunno, the best thing about Ek Duje Ke Vaaste is that you cannot predict anything. The writers are very smart in maneuvering the story at the last moment that leaves you gaping.
I love how the writers don't drag the tracks in this show. If it were any other serial, a health Suman wouldn't have seen the day of the light for a good two months. But the way the writers fast forwarded Suman's hospital stay and then gave enough time for Suman to see that Shravann still cared, I became their fan for the millionth time.
Special mention this week to Nikita for playing Sumo and portraying ber struggle like no one could. Namik was impeccable as usual, but this was Nikita's week.
It would be unfair not to mention two other characters.
Atharva as Daboo is a small wonder. That guy brought tears to my eyes with today's episode. He is so adorably huggable, I wanna go crash him in my arms.
Mami was another person who stole the show for me. I've never been a fan of her and with the demand for rent from Sumo to run PCT from home, she only stooped a notch below. But this week I saw her in a new light. The worry and care on her face was that of a mother's when she sees her child in pain. It's like she loves Suman immensely but has never been vocal about it, and this week she showered all that love in all the ways she could. Rachna disappointed me, because it was clear how Mami is more affected by Suman's accident. Her words of encouragement were like a soothing balm for Sumo and me alike. For once, she acted like a mother who wished she could do something to help child, for once she was Suman's mother, and not the greedy and insecure woman whose life revolved around her three kids. This was the biggest development this week.
ShraMan are back to square one after today. It is going to be so interesting to see how they're going to admit that they've already moves past their previous issues.
PS - The most fun scene was Pushkar's leg pulling by Suman and the smile that Shravan wore seeing her so happy. Also, Suman pulling an unprepared Shravan in her plan was the best part. ShraMan having fun at PreeKar's expense was so adorable.
