A normal man named Sultan Ali Khan is a state level wrestler who isn't serious for wrestling. One day he finds a woman ( Anushka ) fighting a man in the wrestling pits. He falls for her and tries to impress her by doing different antics. Songs and dance follow and both fall in love. Aarfa also transforms Sultan's approach to wrestling. He gets serious and both Aarfa & Sultan qualify to represent India in Olympics. Sultan wins India the gold but Aarfa loses. Sultan asks Aarfa to get married to him. But she is broken after her loss. She needs time. Meanwhile, Sultan travels overseas for a wrestling tournament. Aarfa's parents who know nothing about her relationship to Sultan, decide to marry her to a powerful regional MLA who had affection for Aarfa for many years. Aarfa who still couldn't cope with her loss refuses. Goons hired by the MLA threaten her family constantly. Olympic loss, continuous worry for the family, Sultan not being at her side, she decides to end it all and commits suicide
INTERVAL
Sultan returns to India and finds Aarfa dead. He is heart broken and confines himself. He gives up wrestling. 10 years pass. Sultan is now a 40 year old man with a fat belly. He is living but couldn't get over Aarfa's death. Meanwhile, India MMA boxers boycott UFC over non payment of salary by AIMMA. Sultan's coach sees this an opportunity for Sultan to make a come back. He suggests Sultan's name for UFC. Board agrees as they don't have any other option. Sultan then trains under a new coach ( Randeep Hooda ). He participates in the UFC and wins it for India. Immediately after the win, he sees Aarfa's image outside the ring, smiling and saying " I am proud of you Sultan "
