Raju Hirani is better.

SLB gets too caught up in melodrama - which makes even his great films almost tiresome in parts. With some editing, Ram-Leela/Bajirao Mastani/Devdas would be a lot better.

Hirani by miles!!

I cannot stand SLB and his movies!! I can't think of a single one I would care to watch again.
HDDCS & Devdas despite having people I liked a lot at the time I still didn't like much though I watched them for the actors..

While I would watch all Hirani movies many times over!

Hmm...the serious movie lover in me tends to prefer the Hirani movie but the bling and clothes lover in me tends to love the opulence of an SLB movie especially how he presents his heroines.

I would love to be dressed desi style by SLB that is how much I love his films visually 😳 😆. They are just a feast for the eyes, he makes his heroines look gorgeous. His heroes too. There is something grandiose, not rooted in reality and opulent about an SLB movie. So I love both for different reasons.

Hirani of course...anyone is better than SLB...poor Kabir Khan got robbed of his award because the Natl. award jury was on dope when selecting the best director🤔
