No!! There is a difference between quintessential classic charm and just wearing the same kind of clothes(not that she/her team got even that right with the tacky fluorescent green blouse) and thinking you have got the character down pat.. Sai was a case of perfect casting and will be Malar for people for years to come. I can't see Shruti, even in that pic with her in the saree as Malar looking shrewish, coming even close. Malar was depicted as an innocent sweet girl, pally with students and wanting them to like her, especially since she was herself new to teaching. Shruti, on the other hand, looks high on attitude

I haven't seen the movie but have watched the trailer. From what I saw, NO. I feel like Telugu movies never compromise on the glamour quotient when it comes to the 'heroines'. Malar had this childlike innocence and transparency about her which I don't think Shruti can bring to the character. Plus, Sai also looked natural and fit into the role. She WAS Malar. Shruti- I don't know.

Nope.
And it's not just about Shruti being malar, if you've seen Anupama's (Mary in Premam) BTS pictures you'll know the amount of difference there is between Mary and whatever her Telugu character is. Glamour is such an important part of Telugu films that sometimes, the whole point is lost in the process of making the people look good.

Alphonse had made sure that every girl he chose, not only managed to make the girls who watched the film feel good about themselves but also made the actresses themselves feel at ease with their personality. Sai Pallavi has mentioned on countless occasions how Alphonse having no qualms with putting her on screen sans makeup made her less conscious about her pimples.

The reason for Premam's intense popularity among the masses was the raw appeal to each characters, which I'm pretty sure has been rubbed off in the remake. Therefore, I fail to understand the point of remaking it at all.

P.S I am in no way a Telugu industry hater, just making a point is all.
