First full time day at school can be stressful for both the child and the parent. As a parent one has concerns, if the child will cope with letting go off the parent for starters . Then would their baby be able to follow instructions , routines ?make friends ?play sensibly in the play ground? work attentively in class? However with Dhani there are other bits of anxieties as well. Like will her daughter get through the entrance exam as Dhani has opted to educate her child in private fee paying rather than a state owned school. However Vidha the flower fairyis full of beans !bright as a button at the notion of starting her new school. The credit of course goes to Dhani who has inculcated a certain confidence in her child by offering her a secure and happy home environment. Within the means available to her Dhani and dulari ensure v that the child is provided appropriate clothing, food and entertainment. Have to say Vidha is a socially active child , the culture of the ghettos is such, that all the neighbours look out for each other, hence she has plenty of language stimulus and expresses her needs well verbally. She is a perceptive five year and as such wants to know if her dad would be coming today to mark her first day at school? What is Dhani meant to say to the child? since recently she has been feeding the child's imagination that a dad exists, he will come one day. In good faith Dhani keeps the child's hopes up. For the truth is, Viplav is alive she wears the vermillion of his name in her hair parting.. So how can she tell Vidha her dad will not be coming ever? More over.. her flower fairy is exuberant today she cannot possibly give her the news he won't be there. Dhani goes to her deity, pours her heart out. Deep down she knows Viplav would make it today.. but she understands it will be hard,as she recalls a lost Viplav moving her hand off his shoulder his broken voice that spoke, his child is missing he has to look for him.. Dhani is a woman of faith and also a mother. She understands Viplav's smarting.. she prays for the little boy blue Atharva's safe return. This then is Dhani's compassionate of heart, not vindictive! Praying for Viplav's son free fron malice also gives Dhani an explicable peace.. cannot be defined but can be seen as part of warming to viplav ..yet the beauty of scene is even though being far from each other. Spiritually both are in complete agreement before god about Atharva's safe return. Viplav as a father holds his boys superman. In the toy he sees himself as the responsible father who will rescue his son from the clutches of the bad man! Yet during this supplication there comes positivity in his protests too, as his contrite heart cries before his god, why punish his son for his transgressions! Looks like Viplav realizes he has wronged Dhani
New day dawns! for the three women who celebrate start of the flower fairy's first day at school. Dhani like always instructs her child to seek Dulari's blessings as Dhani always maintained elders blessings are imperative for getting success in life Dulari speaks blessings upon the child. Flower fairy is in her elements as soon as she steps out her home, she goes around drawing her wider family! the ghettos acquaintances , attention to her satchel! her uniform! her shoes! Dhani watches ,whether she likes it or not her little flower fairy like her demon uncle brings smiles on people's faces!just like Viplav did.There is no shortage of love in this little fairy's life! overcome with memory of a certain demon ! Dhani asks her mother innocently, who is Vidha like? Dulari is careful not to spoil things today ,so safely she says, if she tells her ,then it ll not go down well with her.That answers what Dhani wants to hear Vidha is like Viplav!!since they are thinking about the same person ,Dulari does enquire from Dhani if bachva ji's son has been found? regretfully not, Dhani replies and Dulari too speaks a prayer may god will it, he is found soon. Prayers for aathrva is cascaded down to the youngest lady of the family too, as Vidha comes out of the house and tells her nanny and mother she too offered prayers for Atharva. This also has to be amid her insecurities, Dhani's strength of being a good mother.Money, power she may not possess, but values she has and above all she gives her child those values like her mother gave her! But Dhani is human too, has her fair share of challenges put before her by her bright as button flower fairy . Dreaded questions that revolve around Viplav! Vidha wants to know if she informed her dad ?it's her first day at school Dhani coerces the child they need to hurry otherwise she'll end up being a back bencher! but vidha back chats , she'll be a back bencher but will wait for her dad! to get her to school on time Dhani has to fib, she tried to ring her dad but couldn't get through his phone is switched off! yes in the main Dhani misleads Vidha but in my opinion the present time is not appropriate she has to abide by the punctuality code of the school , plus telling Vidha she doesn't have a dad will cause trauma to the child especially on her first day at school .But Vidha is obdurate like her father and digs her heels in she's not moving! But her baaba arrives! saves the day! as he carries her and cajoles her.. her dad will surely come! he's on his way and he'll get straight to school ! mind you Dhani admonishes Parsiya for lying to the child, who will control Vidha when she finds it's a lie? he tells Dhani she doesn't have another option .thus lo and behold Parsiya s lie works! as Vidha herself forces her mother to get to the school! as her dad will be waiting. Even Dulari has reservations about how Vidha is likely to react when she finds out her dad is not there? with Parsiya it's always being a stand in dad for Vidha , she needn't worry , he'll be her dad should the need arise ,he would be going to the school anyway after he's searched for Atharva .In my opinion Parsiya is not trying to get in there grinding his own axe! at the station he committed to being Vidha's father, to protect Viplav's identity and Dhani's character !plus he wants to reiterate no amount of beats can stop him from supporting this family Arrival at school marks a point of celebration , both for mother and daughter! A dream come true for both!The buzz makes up for the presence of five year olds ,potentially accompanied outside the principals . Its normal to note both parents for their child's admission. It's a requirement under the admission code of practice. The idea is for the schools to know as much as possible about the pupil's family background. Whereas it's positive thing in one way , to me it also restricts in practice, the concept of what the pupils immediate family consist off. For in this day and under divorce or separation scenarios off who brings up a pupil is of great significance. Seeing children's fathers present, brings Dhani predicament true as Vidha does give her some flak ! once they are seated. To me Dhani keeps presence of mind and handles her child very well by focussing on the need of the hour. Focuses on the need of the hour , which is to prime her daughter how to deal with question , builds her self esteem, by reminds the flower fairy she'll be fine she knows the answers! But Vidha only waits for her father to arrive, quotes names of all who confirmed that her dad would come like Parsiya.. The flower fairy' s questions annoy Dhani as her strong front of single mother hood snaps! she tells her daughter he won't be coming end off!
Child centred separated parents do make an effort if it's in their power to attend their child's admission and progress evenings. Viplav is one such father..her dad is here! he announces !Vidha's face lights up in a smile.Dhani is in shock! has turned up! Vidha runs and receives her demon uncle !is he her dad?? is the ultimate question. For the answer Viplav seeks permission from the child's mother.. which is fair enough Viplav is a lawyer, and for once to me. Viplav tends to play it by the book. Before confirming this relationship with his sugar plum fairy he needs the mothers consent! There lies anticipation in their looks though. Is Viplav going to accept Vidha as his daughter? or is Dhani going to confirm that she is ?it's a question that hangs in mid air . For Dhani though, this also may be a fore warning fo ,that Viplav comes here in peace .. but if needs be, he will not be withhold his piece about who and what he is to the flower fairy? thus begins the contention between Viplav and Dhani over rights and duties regards their daughter .One look at Dhani's eyes Viplav reads the appeal for him not to mislead the child. Viplav always respects a woman ,even this one who is the widow he loved, married and lost! but still loves! thus he smiles at his flower fairy and tells her the truth that he is her demon uncle , but her dad is busy with work so he has sent him to her instead to ensure that she gets settled in her school.Viplav looks at Dhani with a look that says, he knows her predicament.. then sounds off to Vidha as demon uncle really, but via the voice of her dad who says sorry for not being in touch for so many years.. Viplav looks beseechingly at Dhani to as she turns her face away.. and then adds any way to his flower fairy her dad hopes she will forgive her dad?To me this scene again is about Viplav trying to build bridges, rather than to burn them.. he desires for Dhani and him to come together gradually ,dhree ,dhree he wants her back in his life . But Viplav that is if she will have you? but Viplav is greedy to make use of every opportunity he gets to win his beloved Dhani back. However he does blow it as well! presents his flower fairy with a gold chain from her dad for this milestone of starting schools. Adds innocently to Vidha her dad says she has to wear it till the time he returns.Clearly this winds Dhani up ,he buys her child over, with wealth! But Dhani stops them both from going into the principal's office and does her duty as a mother.. gives her daughter offertory brought from the temple! yes to her Viplav too, she gives him offertory again.. like five years ago, when he demanded the offertory from her to make passes at her!! today she offers offertory to him with peace, offers him consolation.. that she has alongside prayed at the temple for Atharva's safety too, he will return soon.. Ishq! Ishq! he loves her still..its her sincerity that he never doubted and still has faith in what she says.. Every situation gives them a sweet excuse to forgive and move on?
In the principal's office. another moment crops up where Viplav exerts both his right or as I would call it duty. But it does become contentious in there.. a case of two warring parents. Viplav announces himself as Vidha's father!which the principal queries that the father's name is blank! Viplav gives Dhani a sided glare and adds with an apology he must have forgotten to put it down and he writes it down!. Dhani tends to say things point blank rather than leave them to speculation. Quite rightly so in my opinion, she clarifies their marital status as separated! Viplav did his bit now just gives her sided glares...he has to agree with her, on this one, they do not live together! The principals job clarifies as an objective party that what happens between them is private but does explain to them in no uncertain words they both have to ensure that both are sensitive to the fact that Vidha is not affected by the separation, as it may have an effect on her learning potential .Viplav again gives Dhani a sided glare again! Finally the issue of prompt payment of the fees comes in and Viplav again puts his foot in his mouth! and whips out his cheque book and announces the payment of the annual full fees. One look at Dhani's horror stricken face does tell him to back off! and give credence to Dhani s hard work and commitment in honouring the monthly payment of fees according to her means.. he pulls back the word fees, and calls it donation to the school instead, and saves the situation in the face of it!
But when they emerge out of the office,he's on the phone ,which Dhani snatches off him! and she lays it into him! infuriated.. This definitely is a husband and wife run in !just like the old days! She demands an explanation? why did he give a donation? He snatches back his phone from her! he wanted to write the fathers name, she stopped him! she is not telling Vidha he is her father, he stays quiet! does he not deserve even a bit of happiness to contribute towards his child's education? he is Vidha's father! he has every right over her. Dhani retorts oh no he doesn't! have any right over Vidha !besides by giving his donation he is trying to belittle her. He dismisses it off as rubbish! that's how she thinks not him! Dhani warns him, Vidha is her daughter he'd better not try to snatch her away from her! he mocks is she getting in secure? Dhani shuts up, and asks helplessly why has he come here? he replies because his daughter missed him that's why?and he will not be answering any of her questions! and he roars yeah right!when he begged for her answers! she never gave him any! end off! and he storms off!
Yes in their altercations! banters! and verbal slinging matches its excuses to communicate with each other which they do! the colour of love is to fall out only to be connected again, my beloved..Vidha, the love of their life the strongest link returns, for her sake ,the parents decide to throw their arms till the next opportunity .. Kamini too butts in reminds Viplav they need to be looking for Atharva , does he not care for him? Viplav replies he does but coming here was equally important. Parsiya too arrives and tells Viplav he has found the kidnapper he wore a maroon kurta.
Overall I found it an endearing episode set in the school environment. Coupled with the anxieties of disconcerted parents who don't live together any more. for the sake of Vidha, how they handle the day? is interesting to watch . what adjustments they make ? what behaviour modifications they put into place.. I her some long lost love ditties but that s only me.. hamlet53 24.1.16
