Hello people,

What a solid episode today! Yesterday was all kinds of sweet what with all the anticipation and disappointment Dev and Sona went through on being constantly interrupted by some family member or the other. I read some apprehension too about Dev skipping so many meetings but I was a little more worried about something else. Didn't write about it yesterday though as I wasn't sure if I was reading too much into everything.

I'm talking about Dev constantly feeling the need to go out of his way to make Sona happy. As soon as he sensed her disappointment at not getting her gift, he called up Tina and cancelled yet another meeting. Today as well, when she expressed a similar sentiment, you see worry cloud his face and he fumbles when she asks what he plans to gift her, now that the earrings are gone. She meant it in a teasing way and more than anything, it was a test of his imagination but Dev being the straightforward person he is, just says that since she likes earrings he will get her another pair. It's similar to the time when he ended up eating those chillies. Sona was right when she said that Dev addresses every simple thing as a problem with his immediate task being, finding a solution to that problem. When she says he can't do everything Dev gets clearly disturbed and I'm glad Sona noticed that. Dev has been playing the role of a protector and provider for so long that he knows little else. His whole life has been about meeting his family's expectations so it doesn't surprise me that on some level he is now associating Sona with all the people he has to take care of. Just the thought that he might not be able to give Sona something affects him and makes him uneasy. I loved how Sona reassured Dev that she really did love those earrings and just dropping her home was good enough for her. He tries to smile yet his face spoke of a different story as he saw her walk away from himself. My heart goes out to this man. He's such a child from within, so afraid of disappointing the people he loves. Unfortunately for Dev, his own family has exploited this very weakness of his. Sona is different that way. I hope Dev can understand that Sona really doesn't need for him to prove his love to her in any way. All she wants is for them to be together. Infact, the material stuff aside, it pinched Sona far more that Dev wasn't listening to her as she talked about her childhood. I don't know how much they will explore this but it's a very real issue for Dev, one that Sona needs to help him resolve. He needs to trust the fact that this wonderful, beautiful woman in his life loves him for him, for the man he is... not for the amount of efforts he is willing to put in making her happy or spoiling her. Sona has loved him so immensely when he had little to give her in return. And now when he does love her.. that is all she really needs. The beauty of this show is that it has always focused on the characters and their inner dilemmas as the core conflicts in the story. There is no outside force working or plotting against them. That's mostly how it works in real life too and it's so refreshing to see the writers drawing from what normal people like you and I struggle with, over superficial elements.

The rain sequence was so beautiful! Most rain scenes focus on romance or intensity so this one was one of its kind for me. I love how the rain wasn't just a gift for Sona but also a gift for Dev. :) He's more than happy just watching her but she drags him in, determined to make him experience something new. It felt so GOOD to see these two laughing and dancing like two kids! Their happiness really touched me and made me happy too :) I loved Dev's expressions when Sona first pulls him into a dance.. Shaheer was excellent there. This is the kind of freedom and joy that Dev needs in his life. Beautiful beautiful. I think this is the second time since the black-out that I have seen Dev really laugh his heart out. When she hugs him in the end.. That was really just Sona's way of saying how much she loves this man.

Dev using the trimmer prior to a video chat with his girlfriend 😆 I loved his embarrassment and Sona's amusement over her boyfriend acting like a girl. 😆 These two are so aww-worthy!

The mess with Neha and Ranveer - Okay I kind of agree with both of them here. Dev, on the other hand, is naturally stuck in the same rut. He means well but his methods are still messed up. Neha really should have talked to Ranveer about this instead of dragging Dev into it. Either way, atleast the issue is finally out in the open. I saw some glimpses of the old Dev today when he lost his cool over Ranveer's open rejection. The man really isn't used to hearing a no. He did try to salvage the situation by making it about family but both Dev and Neha still missed the point of Ranveer's anger. Dev a little more than Neha but that's alright. I agree with how Neha questioned the idea of a girl always making the adjustments. Neha has a very fair point. There really is nothing wrong with a better job. Love is great but a little practicality doesn't hurt either. As far as Neha is concerned, people never change completely and the complexes you acquire as a child are especially difficult to get rid of. Its unfair of Ranveer to expect Neha to get over everything and go back to the same life she despised so much. I think Ranveer might have accepted the things Neha needs of him far better if his ego hadn't gotten bruised. He is a sensible man. There is also the issue of Ranveer only finding happiness in his current job though. And to top it all, there is the question that this isn't about money for Neha at all, instead it's about her fear of losing her identity and significance down the same road that she lost her childhood in. It's a very complex issue overall.. I just hope that whatever they show involves both Neha and Ranveer compromising on certain things and learning to respect each other's needs and differences.

Dev and Sona in the kitchen.. Really sweet moment. The way he cups her face in his hands.. I fell in love with that expression on Sona's face as she looked at Dev. BTW not to kill the moment or anything but honest question - Does this thing actually work? Since I have no Dev in my life to blow into my eye I don't know. 😆

Looking forward to Dev and Sona discussing his family issues and Dev himself tomorrow! I know they have done it before but since she is his girlfriend/potential life partner now, I'm all the more excited! 😃

Maham, this is one of those insightful posts for which I wish there was a LOVE button on IF! Here's the best I can do ❤️❤️❤️

Your analysis of Dev is so spot on! As he steps more boldly into this new territory, the insane happiness comes with insane fear of losing the first thing he has ever wanted for himself. As a result, any little disappointment or displeasure she expresses is treated as a code 1 emergency and addressed accordingly. 😆 What Sona, on the other hand, is trying to communicate to him is that it is more than enough that he exists and loves her in return. Like she said, just his name is Dev, he isn't actually God!

It's also interesting that Dev jumped straight to a material object to placate Sona. That is what he is used to, tangible solutions, and I think it was sweet that they showed Sona's enthusiasm about the gift and her appreciation of his "old-fashioned" idea of a gift. She's a human girl, who happens to love earrings but for whim that is not really a central concern! Her confusion of how to convey this was so well done. What mattered so much more to her was the time and effort he put into finding the perfect thing for her, and the fact that he noticed her changing earrings everyday. As you said, she was much more bothered by his focus on his phone than not getting the gift. I think it became clear to us and to Dev that Sona would treasure and enjoy anything Dev gave her, but what she really wants is the attention, time, and honesty of the man she loves. It was beautiful to see her message silently get through to Dev by the end of the day. Instead of making promises he couldn't keep, like he had done with breakfast, he simply told her that he would already be at the office by the time she got to work, and that he would meet her in the evening.

Their spontaneous rain moment played a huge role in teaching Dev about Sona's priorities, and her attitude towards life. It was also beautiful little throwback to Sona's social media status, "I love clouds." When Dev read that, he was judging Sona hard for being so random 🤔😆 but today, when Dev saw first hand what Sona's love for rain meant, not only did he get swept up in her excitement, he learned so many little things about her. Not even a hundred pairs of earrings could have given Sona the unadulterated joy of the sudden, coincidental rain and the moments they shared in it, and I think that was writ large on her face for Dev to see. It became clearer to Dev that she doesn't hold him responsible for providing her happiness, she just wants him to be able to experience and express it with him. And as you so astutely pointed out, she isn't like the rest of his family who expect him to "take care" of them in a very material way; she is perfectly capable that herself. What she wants from him is his heart, his confidence, and his companionship so they can create and enjoy moments of happiness together.

OMG! The video call. but also 🤣 I love how candid Sona is with Dev, and how she is always keeping him on his toes, constantly switching between dreamy, blunt, and teasing tones. And I love how he's slowly learning how to keep up and take himself less seriously. It is at these moments that they have a serious Elizabeth-Darcy thing going on. And his reaction to Elena! 🤣 That was an amazing piece of comedy by Shaheer and I absolutely loved this new shy, unsure Dev completely blind sighted by someone other than Sona seeing him without his "Hi, I'm Dev Dixit" mask on.

The Neha-Ranveer confrontation was something I have been waiting for, and it did not disappoint! I love how both of them acknowledged that they were ziddhi, but that they also couldn't compromise that zidh, not even for each other. Even though it's keeping them apart now, it's kind of what makes them perfect together. I agree that Neha no longer in the wrong, now that she is openly confronting the issues with Ranveer rather than trying to manipulate him through Dev (that was all kinds of wrong!). I also appreciate that Ranveer sticks to his guns (might not be entirely unhealthy for Dev to hear the word "no" every now and then, and I am sure even Sona would agree with me on that 😉).

What makes the whole mix even more complex and interesting is that Ranveer's mother and bhabhi were pretty stoked about him getting a better job. Clearly they are not as blissful and content as he makes out to Neha all the time. Ranveer is clearly an idealist, and he probably romancises the idea of poverty and selflessness a great deal (poor people = good/ rich people - bad), without fully thinking through the practical ramifications. Much like Dev actually, he has been protected from the practical side and allowed to indulge in his idealism. This was clear when it was his bhabhi who was asking Neha the questions about whether she really thought she could adjust in their family. In that way, the show does a great job of subtly commenting on gender-relations in the household. The women often have to deal with harsh realities while the men are provided a bubble so that they can concentrate on becoming successful breadwinners. As a result, they have the luxury of unshakeable principles; the women are tasked with all the uncomfortable, grey areas. I mean, this is even true of Mama and Mami. Mama always conveniently blames his wife for the way Vicky turned out, but the boy had *two* parents... or did he? 🤔

Neha has experienced this double standard in its harshest form since she was eight years old. All she is trying to do is challenge it and hold the men responsible for their share of the emotional burden. Ranveer described Neha to his bhabhi as someone who has the capacity to carry the entire household with her and move forward. Ironically, that is precisely what he is holding against her now. I get that her methods were messed up, but girl has a point!

Hi, I am a silent reader in this forum, but a regular follower of this show.😊

Even I was worried about Dev skipping the office meetings. And, I still fear... if anyone misuses his absence and create a huge loss...??? Later, when Sona comes into picture, she will be blamed for everything... like cancelling engagement, office loss, Dev keeping secrets, Ishwari losing importance... etc. Radharani will highlight everything and will mess up.😡

Truly. amazingly analyzed, I never thought this way about Dev... thanks for enlighting.😳

@bold... now I understand why Dev suddenly looked upset and lost in the car scene and he was doing something with his phone...

I expected some intense scene in the rain if not too much like an intense eye lock... as per SBS video. But it turned out to be a funny and joyous moment.😆 You and @priya-like-best made me understand the scene better. Here's the link to her post.

😆...It won't, as he was blowing very gently, you need to blow little hard or you need to wash her eye to clear the irritation.

After reading your brilliant post, I doubt myself..., have I really understood Dev's character???

Now, with due respect, will you analyze Dev-Sona relationship from the beginning when they met on the road to till now... please... please... explain the depth in it from Dev's point of view...😳😳
