Father's Day is a celebration honoring fathers and celebrates the contribution fathers and father-figures make for their children's lives. Popularly, its celebrated on the third Sunday of June but a few countries have varying dates!

Father's Day celebration was inspired by the Mother's Day tradition in early 20^th century. It is believed that Ms Sonora Louise Smart Dodd proposed that a day celebrating Fathers was obligatory. The first celebration was held at the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) in 1910, thanks to the efforts of Sonora Smart Dodd who wanted to honor her father. Her father William Jackson Smart raised six children all by himself after their mother passed away.

In 1913, a bill was introduced in congress to accord national recognition of the holiday but it was denied. In 1966, President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers, dedicating the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. Six years later, the day was made a permanent national holiday when President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day on the third Sunday of June each year. Sonora Smart Dodd was honored for her contribution at the World's Fair in Spokane in 1974. Mrs. Dodd died in 1978 at age 96.

Marlin, a clown fish is a widowed father, who lost his entire family except for his son Nemo in an attack. He is an over-protective father and despite his several warnings, Nemo ventures into the open sea and gets abducted. Thus he embarks upon a journey across the oceans to bring his son back. He encounters various obstacles along the way but ends up finding his beloved Nemo. This movie celebrates fatherhood in its truest sense.

Piku Banerjee, a short tempered Bengali architect lives with her old father, Bhaskor Banerjee aka Baba. Baba has chronic problem of constipation and after a small episode of heart attack, Piku agrees to take Baba to his hometown, Kolkata. The movie shows how both Baba and Piku deal with each other differing ideologies because of the unconditional love they share. Piku is one of the most beautiful movies made on a father and daughter.
