Dev did exactly that - the minute he realised he was in love with his woman, his Sona, he could not think of anything else. Nothing mattered, but to set things right for his love. He did not consider the repercussions of his actions and straight away spoke to Natasha and called off his engagement. He did not even consider his own family, the only ones he had loved so far, before going ahead with his decision.
If she is bad, he can't see it

And turn his back on his best friend

Thank God Sona ain't bad. Yet this applies to our Man in Love. He knows her character flaws, her stubbornness, her frankness but none of this matters when he realises that he loves her inspite of it all. And he hasn't had to fight his friends or even his family yet, but he did have to fight one of the biggest drivers in his life so far. His career goals, and his means to give his family every comfort and happiness in life. That was the one thing that decided his fate so far, guided his every decision in his life so far, yet he was willing to give up one of his biggest career achievements for his love.

Dev started his proposal with the nickname she gave him, Mr. Obhodro or Mr. Rude. And then he took her down memory lane. Of why he is what he is, what circumstances made him Mr. Obhodro. Why he did not experience colors the way she did, or why he did not like the rain. He even hints at the changes that have come in his life of late. He bares his heart, his soul to her when he takes her to the most significant places of his life, places that have shaped him up to be the Mr. Dev he is now. He shares with her a few of his moments with her, to give her the hint that he does remember little details about her. And the actual proposal (let me take a pause here...and relive it) He mentions everything he lost, at the place his lost it all. His father, his childhood, his wishes, his comforts, his dreams, everything. And then with love in heart and hope in his eyes he wishes for it all to come back to him, at the very same place. He lays his future at her feet with his past and present rolled in one, he says what he needs. She is his hope, the one thing he needs to live a fulfilling life. His one true love.
He'd give up all his comforts

If she said that's the way, it ought to be
Like I said above, he did not care about the repercussions his decision, his love would have on his life, his business or his family. It was almost as if, he believed that his love can and will conquer all. Nor did he mind waiting out in the night, waiting for it to be an appropriate time to ring that door bell and approach her.

Mujh pe bharosa hai, Mere saath chalo. Main aur wait nahi kar sakta. The confidence with which he holds her hand to take her with him on a journey of a lifetime, for him as well as her. This journey will decide his fate, his future. Their fate, their future if she responds in an affirmative.

We all know Sona is not going to ditch him, infact she will wait for him for eternity, but he does not know that yet. The mirror scene when he was getting dressed and talking to his own imagination. It was a very poignant scene in the entire build up. It showed his self-doubt, will she love him back. What can he do to make her accept his love, return his feeling? When his imagination made his realize the kind of love story Sona wants, he paused and wondered. Will he be able to pull up to scratch? But then the smile, his confidence said it all.

He does love her, and how!!! She has no doubt of it, he has no doubt of it. Her response with asking for a hug and not a simple "I love you too" and hug in itself are the proof for all. This is love for keeps...the true wala love. A love where the Man truly loves a Woman.
