Hi. So it happened. I was completely convinced we'd just get Dev landing up on Sona's doorstep before the episode finishes but...

How utterly beautiful was that?!

Okay okay lets back up a little. Except I absolutely do not want to. UGH. You know my thoughts were completely organized in the first ummm 15 minutes? I had plenty to say about everything that happened before the darn proposal.. Naturally everything has gone for a toss now.

Okay alright.. Focus.

Right, so Dev's big announcement naturally follows surprise and shock. Okay I actually cannot remember much now. *facepalm* THIS does not happen. Okay okay please put the tomatoes away... I do remember now. I found Dev's explanation to Ishwari interesting. He isn't entirely honest with her but he did indirectly tell her truth. Somewhat anyway. I felt that he insinuated Sona as love and Natasha as the part of his life that's entirely business. "Pyar ka vyapaar nai hosakta." Is basically it for Dev. He wouldn't forsake what he feels for Sona for any kind of business deal. I am especially curious to see why Dev would choose to hide his relationship with Sona from Ishwari now. He shares everything with her and him being in love is practically life changing.

Radha Rani's comment about today's kids spouting such wisdom on the very day of their engagement/wedding pretty much encompasses the state of characters on Indian TV these days. 🤣 And to think Dev is actually an improvement for not making up his mind like 2 seconds before he slipped the ring on Natasha's finger! 😆 Anyway his explanation was reasonable enough... He really did get backed into a corner. Lucky really that he did make up his mind in a day.

Dr. Sonakshi Bose binging on junk food was so cute! Erica was adorable. Especially that bit where she mumbles through a mouthful of chips and ice cream. 😆 And can I just say Dada is the best big brother ever! So sweet how he let her pummel him as long as it made her smile.

Dev's talk with Sona in the mirror was so amusing. It was funny how she really made him reconsider his proposal by reminding him that he is about to propose to a girl who has dreamt of her love story her entire life. Would he really be able to live up to all those expectations? 😆 The sweetest bit was when he places his hand atop hers, its simply a reflection and he is essentially just placing his hand on his own arm but how he seems to take comfort by the mere idea of her presence was very endearing. :)

It was hilarious how he comes down the stairs, cool as a cucumber, with nothing but seeing Sona on his mind while the rest of the family is just sitting devastated. Priorities. 😆 I loved the reminder he gave to Radha Rani about how he is a self made man, he didn't get here with any outside help and while his business is likely to suffer, an outsider can't ruin him. He is Dev Dixit afterall. I love the strength and conviction about Dev. Right now all he wants to do is tell Sona how he feels. The rest he'll deal with later. This is no longer the man who, as Sona so often points out, lives his life according to a balance sheet.

I liked how the scene between Dev and Mr. Gujral was written as well. I fully expected the man to come storming in and raise hell at their house but he didn't. He listens to Dev's explanation calmly but ofcourse an explanation, reasonable as it were, cannot repair the damage that's been done here. I'm glad the deal didn't actually even come up. Gujral made no mention of it nor did he make any threats of destroying Dev.. His only concern was that his daughter's heart had been broken and Dev can't fix that. I appreciate the sensitivity the writers showed in their treatment of even this character.

Ishwari vouching for Dev as an honest man... She really confused me today. It was difficult to tell if she was just blindly supporting her son only because she never wanted this engagement to happen or because she fully realizes the weight of his decision but is willing to support it because it makes him happy and that he must have known what he was doing. I liked what she said to Neha though. The right that was given to Neha to choose Ranveer as a life partner inspite of everyone's disapproval should be given to Dev as well. Ofcourse we know she won't really stick to this once the real reason of Dev's refusal to the engagement becomes clear to her but it was a very fair statement and good enough to quiet Neha down. Interestingly I think it could also be one of the reasons why Neha is going to show full support to Dev later on even when Ishwari won't.

The observation she made about Dev being so self-assured about his decision and how she is clearly sensing a change in him... See Ishwari? Sona is good for your son. Her love has lent him a rare kind of strength. You wanted this remember? You wanted him to do something for himself for a change. Oh well... I guess it will take time to cross that bridge.

OKAY now I can talk about THE scene. Dev appearing at her door at.. 2 3 am? Sona assuming it's the milkman - 🤣 He asks her whether she trusts him and if she does then she has to come out with him. When she turns around to atleast change into something better and he grabs her hand and insists he can't wait any longer... I was reminded of the same Dev who pulled Sona in for a dance under the pretense of escaping from the clutches of the Minister's daughter.

What followed was beautiful... How he takes her to all the places from where his life began, telling her a story about each of those places and what they meant to him... Beautiful beautiful. Its such a strong throwback to the day of the accident. That was the first time he shared some very deeply personal things about himself, yes all those stories were attempts to keep her engaged and awake but that was when the walls really started to come down with respect to their relationship, when he was no longer Mr. Obodhoro but simply Dev, the man that Sona fell in love with. He had already been in love with Sona then but he didn't know it. Today he does and so he wants to share his entire life with her and really show her where the rude and obnoxious Dev Dixit comes from. What can be more intimate than sharing your roots with a person? He could have arranged the grandest setting, made the most extravagant gestures to show that he is in love with her but instead he chooses what is essentially the crux of their relationship: Sharing, understanding and trust, things that he knows would mean more to Sona than any materialistic expressions of love.

I loved loved loved the little things during the drive. How he describes his relationship with colors, makes that suggestive statement about what she wore the morning after she first saw him laugh... As if to tell her he had always noticed, giving her perhaps the slightest of hints that she had never been just his employee. I loved the curiosity in Sona's eyes... She hasn't quite grasped what's going on in Dev's heart but she is still listening to every word he says. Oh BTW I also loved the clear shift from aap to tum, all sense of formality dropped. That little story about him distributing sugar on the day Nikki was born was perhaps my favorite. It's just so endearing to imagine a 6 or 7 year old Dev celebrating the birth of his youngest sister like that and getting scolded for it later. :) The pride with which he asks if she noticed he is wearing orange... Dev Dixit is honestly the sweetest man on Indian TV. I could just hug him right now!

They finally stop outside a old building that used to be his home while his Father was still alive and he asks her to get out of the car. His little monologue about losing everything, even himself in this place and wanting to find everything here as well... Dev is quite the poet! The amount of depth here uff! He is a changed man, Sona has changed him... she's helped him rediscover himself and it doesn't stop here. He wants to grow further, become the person she inspires him to be and this is only the beginning. Gigantic hug to the writers for this scene! That smile when he finally calls her Sonakshi, he was just so happy to address her like that... all sense of inhibition finally gone, that last wall between them crumbling to dust. Beautiful beautiful.

And then the magic words.

"Miss Sonakhsi Bose I love you."

The girl in question just freezes, refusing to believe what she has heard. How many times has she dreamed of this? And here he is actually saying it to her. I loved how Sona backtracked a little and asks him that surely he means that he loves her as a friend? The amount of heartbreak she has been through, its natural for her to prepare for more disappointment.

"I love you as a man loves a woman."

Oh God. Somehow that is about the most romantic thing I have heard from a fictional character in a while now. The firmness, the intensity in his eyes, the rising and falling of his chest being a clear indicator of how fast his heart was beating just then... Loved loved loved it. And then he takes a step back. He has expressed what he feels for her and now he is giving her the freedom, the space to choose and decide. She can break his heart right now by rejecting him and he knows that.

Sona's response was so unusual. All she does is ask him if he'd hug her right now. These two! The look on their faces as her words register... That is all she needs to say for Dev to know her answer. He spreads out his arms, SRK style, giving all of himself to her in that moment and she rushes forward, fitting perfectly against him. The happiness on their faces, their eyes glistening with tears almost instantly as this feeling of being complete registers... Beautiful is about the most overused word of the day but I really do not how else to describe them right now. Magical maybe? Its time to dream a new dream for Dev and Sona. Time to explore a whole different arc of their relationship... Its new, its magical, its exciting and it feels just right.

Thank you to the writers of this show for such a beautiful beautiful scene and thank you to Shaheer and Erica for such subtle yet beautiful performances! Tons of love to you all!

Edit: Absolutely on point analysis! Couldn't agree with you more on everything you said. I've been so overwhelmed with this week's episodes that finding the energy to express my thoughts and feelings have been extremely difficult. Thanks to your post, I could see my thoughts on paper! Fab stuff!

Very beautifully summed up maham.
I am not a regular follower of the show but catch it on and off. There is something beautiful, relatable and real about the characters that draws you back again and again. They are etched out on real boundaries and then they step into a fantastical realm which is beautiful to witness.

Coming to the proposal. L.O.V.E.D I.T.

It was real, it was simple, it was straight from the heart.

A 27 year old mature man who has possibly gone through the worst of his life takes the love of his life at midnight for a tour around the city. He takes her to all the important places of his childhood, where he grew up, understood life and learnt how to live it.

My favourite part was about colours. Class main rainbow k colours sab se pehle yaad kar liye they .. lekin kabhi unhain mehsoos nahi kiya. This single line sums up his entire dillema. He looks in her eyes and says .. "You make me want to be a better person" .

Isnt this the main motive of love? To want to be a better person? ❤️

Sonaskhi .. jitna khobsorat naam .. utni khobsorat ap ho ..

This was endearing, it touched my heart. Esp when he utters Sonakshi .. there was something so so beautiful about the name .. remembered that qoute where it says that "its something about how u say my name makes me fall in love with you" . ❤️

and then the final words - I love you Miss Bose.

Poor adorable Sona thinks this cant be real. Okay he loves me? Fine ..a s a friend .. and as mr Dixit was all done with poetry, he clears her doubt in the most beautiful manner ..

I love you as man loves a woman.

Beautiful. Beautiful.

No orchestra, no roses, no main mar jaonga tumhare bagier, and no tum saans lene ki waja ban gayi ho. Simple mature people, who are in their late twenties, who fell in love and confessed.

A beautiful before marriage mature romance that was missing on TV. ❤️

You know I am still stuck at the point when Dev said "I love you as a man loves a woman"

I agree, its the most beautiful, meaningful, appropriate thing a guy could say while proposing a girl. All doubts must be clear after this.

The whole idea of this proposal is simply too too romantic. No words can justify the true depth of this proposal.

This would be my most favourite part of KRPKAB till date.

Hey lovely analysis by the way, I felt like relieving each part of episode through your words 😊
