Amrik Singh, popularly known as Mika Singh, was born on June 10 in Durgapur, West Bengal. He is the younger brother of renowned pop singer Daler Mehndi.

His father Ajmer Singh Chandan is a classical-trained musician of the old school and his late mother Balbir Kaur had the knowledge of folk music. This combination inspired Mika to look towards music as an art form. Mika started to play tabla when he was 8, harmonium when he was 12 and guitar at 14. He had a hit music album Sawan Mein Lag Gayee Aag (1998) to his credit at 24. He has several hit albums to his credit like Gabru, Something Something and others. He has also sung songs for various Bollywood movies like Ganpat and Unke Nashe Mein for Shootout At Lokhandwala, Dil Mein Baji Guitar for Apna Sapna Money Money and Dil Todke Na Ja for Pyar Ke Side Effects which were also megahits.

He had joined second season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa as one of the contestants. Tanushree Rakshit was his choreographer partner in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2. He was eliminated on November 17, 2007.
