I don't know why but I felt the lyrics to this beautiful song by Arijit Singh was apt to describe the bit where Dev is humming for the first time to a Bengali song. Just as Natasha was surprised to hear him humming a tune, I was equally too. Love is well and truly in the air. Dev is well and truly in love. I like how the writers continued off from this new Dev with a clear spring in his step, as he discussed business with Natasha. The humming of course was a key part of that, but there was also an open declaration by Dev to Natasha of how he is like as a person - ziddi, short tempered and most importantly agar koi cheez Dev ko pasand aajaye toh usse pane ki liye woh kuch bhi kar sakta hai. đ Nice! I think Dev Dixit is pretty chuffed from having discovered Sona's lie and more than anything, it's a massive indication that he wants to hold onto her, not for her nutritional value but for what she brings to him personally. Thankfully, Natasha questioned him on what he really wants to possess and that got Dev Babu thinking đ
Regarding the Gujral and Dev scene, as painful it is to see why on earth Gujral is being so hasty with this need for an engagement, I will have to say that as a father he is probably in the right to assume that both Dev and Natasha like each other. I know our Dev is extremely slow when it comes to matters of the heart, but any father would assume that two people who were going on dates and spending time with each other might potentially like each other? It's not as if Dev has outright said no. Then again, a couple of weeks is not enough time to decide whether you like someone enough to enter into marriage. I think both Dev and Gujral are both wrong in the way they are handling this marriage and deal thing. Natasha is the one who is stuck in the middle of this and you wouldn't really want her getting hurt too as a girl (unless there is an ulterior motive behind it all which she is a part of đ). Anyway, Gujral never gave a chance for Dev to speak in that scene - it was a bit of emotional blackmail on his behalf as well with the Daadi coming down and all. There is one bit where I liked Gujral though đ I am glad someone directly asked him whether he ACTUALLY liked Natasha. This is where Dev's heart searching begins. Enough of the 'she's a nice girl and we get along', does she make your heart flutter? Does her every word mean the world to you? Can you go a day by without seeing her?
The night time scene was the perfect follow up as that one scene marked the beginning of a Dev Dixit who was restless in love without knowing it. All of a sudden Dev Dixit is now facing a dilemma that he has never been in before. It's a dilemma of love. The worst thing is, the man himself does not know the reason as to why he can't go to sleep I loved how they showed Dev pacing around with a stress ball in his hand and then turning to those sleeping pills that he knows Sona doesn't like him taking. Defeated, he picks up the phone to her and rings her, but knowing she's probably asleep, disconnects and continues to stress out. That little Manoj Kumar style hand on his face thing in slight frustration was so cutely done by Shaheer đł He displayed that mixture of 'shucks, shouldn't have given her a call and I need my sleep' so well đđź And he's so apologetic to Sona when she calls back but she knows him too well now and asks him what's going on. The thing I love about Devakshi is that there's this amazing understanding and expectation that whatever issue or problem there is, together they will talk it out đł And Sona is that perfect person for Dev because she offers him that opportunity without hesitation and with warmth and humour, to let her know what's on his mind when she says ki 'doctor se nahi chupate.' Well and truly made for each other. But what was even cuter is that Dev himself says that things shouldn't be hidden from a friend either. It's like he is now affirming to himself that both of them are now well and truly friends and sub consciously, she means more than that to him. And then the whole conversation beautifully develops as Dev talks about the fact that he can't go to sleep and was thinking about taking a sleeping pill. The beauty of this scene is the innocence with which Dev asks Sona for permission to take a pill to cure him of his ailment knowing full well she disapproves of it. The irony here is that his reason for experiencing this insomnia is her. He might not know this tonight, but tomorrow, he will start to question the symptoms of lovaria đ I also like the reasons he gives of not feeling too well - I can see how this might crop up in his conversation with Neha tomorrow - you know the whole aisa lagta hai ki banda bimar ho jab door hota hai. This is alll beginning to make sense now đ Sona's concern was so adorable...đł Quite frankly, she was what he needed in terms of treatment. But he takes the pill still connected to the phone and I am glad Sona questioned why he was seeking her permission đ. I was totally getting husband and wife vibes from these two again. These two dialogues by Devakshi
Sonakshi: Mr Dixit
Dev: Hmm
Sonakshi: Kal subah aap mujhe bata dena ki aapko kaisa feel ho raha hai. Phir hum decide karenge ki Dr Sinha ko call karna hai ya nahi
People please note the hmm from Dev which previously Sona used to say on the phone to Dev - remember the talks of finding a guy for Sona after the accident? Please also note the 'hum' by Sona đł Love how these small things are now being shown by Dev too.
Quick thoughts on the Dev-Ishwari scene. It is so clear that both mother and son are so not up for this engagement for different reasons. For a life changing event, there was no joy or enthusiasm. Only Radha Rani was jumping up and down in excitement. But you can sense the tension in that room regarding the news of an impending engagement to be arranged. Dev is restless because Sona occupies his mind and heart which he is unable to detect right now. Ishwari of course was probably coming to terms with how quickly things were happening. In the end, as a mother she still is protective towards Dev. A glimpse of jealousy was once again shown when Radha Rani discussed how there will be a point when Dev will shop for jewellery for his wife, if not today. Regardless of how good a bond Sona and Ishwari have, the unexpected shock of Dev and Sona's love in the future will jolt Ishwari. For now, Natasha and Dev's engagement is making sense to her. There is a logic behind it. But with Dev and Sona, she is blind to what is happening between the two. That these two confide in each other is unknown to her. Aside from Dev's realisation, this is something I am looking forward to seeing as well.
