TRP ratings: 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' beats 'Kumkum Bhagya,' 'The Kapil Sharma Show' scores high

The ratings of "The Kapil Sharma Show" was at par with "India's Got Talent" in week 21. Pictured: The set of comedy show "The Kapil Sharma Show."

Mouni Roy and Arjun Bijlani's "Naagin" continues to rule the Television Rating Points (TRPs) with 3.9 points in week 21 (May 21 to May 27) of 2016, according to the data released by Broadcast Audience Research Council India, the television audience measurement agency. Although "Naagin" has topped the TRP charts, its rating has dropped considerably in the past few weeks.

Way behind "Naagin" was "Yeh Hai Mohabbatein," which secured the second spot with 3 TRPs. The intriguing wedding sequence of Raman (Karan Patel) and Shagun (Anita Hassanandani), has been keeping the viewers glued to their TV sets. The third spot in week 21 was secured by "Saath Nibhaana Saathiya" with 2.7 points.

"Kumkum Bhagya," scored the fourth position with 2.5 TRPs. With the constant drop in its rating, it appears like the never ending track of exposing Tanu (Leena Jumani) is affecting the show's ratings.

Surprisingly, "Kasam" has made it to the top five shows in week 21. The show starring Ssharad Malhotra and Kratika Sanger Dheer scored 2.3 points. It was followed by "Swaragini" with 2.1 points. The interesting plot of Swara's (Helly Shah) partial memory loss and the new man in her life Sahil (Anuj Sachdeva) seems to be pulling viewership.

"The Kapil Sharma Show," which had been garnering a low rating in the non-fictional show category since several weeks now, managed to increase its ratings (2 TRP) in week 21 and was at par with previous week's top scorer in the non-fiction category "India's Got Talent."

As for the channels, Star Plus made it to the top among the urban areas, followed by Colors TV, Zee TV, Life OK, Sony SAB, Sony Entertainment Television. In the rural areas, Star Utsav, Sony Pal, Zee Anmol, Zee TV, Rishtey, Star Plus were the top scorers.

TRP is a tool to measure viewers' preferred programmes and the popularity of a particular channel based on data collected from a particular geography and demography.

Top five non-fiction shows

The Kapil Sharma Show 2.0
India's Got Talent  2.0
Comedy Nights Bachao 1.8
Sa Re Ga Ma Pa 1.2
Comedy Nights Live 1.1

Highlights:

It looks like the slew of new programmes have helped Sony Entertainment Television. After being in the bottom half for countless months, it has climbed to the fifth position. It recorded higher viewership than its earlier week.

Ekta Kapoor's Kasam got a TRP of 2.3 on Colors. It is followed by Swaragini on 2.1. People are loving the chemistry between Rishi (Ssharad Malhotra) and Kratika Sengar (Tanu) and the growing viewership is taking it ahead.

After a rather thanda week 20, The Kapil Sharma Show increased its ratings and took it to 2 at par with India's Got Talent.
