Madhuri inspired Divya Dutta to slim down
Divya Dutta's Aaja Nachle co-star Madhuri Dixit inspired her to trim down her weight. From flab to looking fab after losing 10 kilos, an excited Divya shares with us a lot of things, including why Shreyas Talpade calls her Ramesh.
Amongst her other projects are Ajay Devgan directed Me, Tum Aur Hum and Shyam Benegal's Mahadeva. Perennial prankster Ajay was successful in making Divya his victim as well. Divya narrates, "While doing a scene I was required to sip water after certain gaps. Ajay had conned me into drinking water mixed with tequila. I have this habit of getting drunk quickly. He knew it well and all had fun at my expense watching me zing on the sets. But you see I couldn't get back at him, after all he was the director of the film."
But the pretty actress proved to be a prankster while shooting for Mahadeva and her co-star Shreyas Talpade, her victim. Divya shares her prank, "I successfully manage to change my voice tone and speak in male voice. So once I called Shreyas saying I am his biggest fan, Ramesh and I desperately want to meet him with my family for his autograph. Poor chap, kept waiting in his room with excitement, only to realise it was me as Ramesh. Since that day he calls me Ramesh instead of Divya."
But there is another unforgettable incident that happened on Mahadeva sets as well which she shared with us. "Imagine it was my first day of the shoot with an acclaimed director like Shyam Benegal and my first shot was supposed to be me riding a scooter with actress-singer, Ila Arun riding pillion behind me. I didn't know how to ride a scooter and Ila was damn scared what I would end up doing to her. Throughout this shot, she was holding my tummy tightly and there I was struggling to get my expressions correctly," Divya says.
There is a lot to look forward for the ever smiling actress presently with Rituparno Ghosh's English film, Last Lear starring Amitabh Bachchan and Preity Zinta set to release soon. Her role in this film has already won her accolades from the critics abroad where it was screened in film festivals. Divya is also in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi 6 for which she begins shoot early next year.
