Sorry If this is already posted ....I was doing my marketing Reaserch Assignment on airtel and i found this ..😊
IQBAL KHAN
Yesterday: "I'm an Aquarian (Feb. 10, '81). I hail from Kashmir and schooled at Pine Grove and later, Lawrence Boarding School in Himachal Pradesh. The latter boasts of celebrities like Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Rahul Roy and Parikshit Sahni on its rolls. I then shifted to Delhi with plans to graduate in English Literature. Dad is a retired IAS officer and mom a housewife, both in Srinagar. My two brothers and a sister are married and settled in Australia while I'm trying to make my home in Bollywood!"
Bollywood: "Bollywood happened thanks to my ex-girl friend, a Delhi model, whom I had escorted for the audition of a Toyota commercial ad. Surprisingly, she was rejected but I was selected, without a portfolio, audition or screen test. I headed straight for Mumbai with just Rs. 3000/- in my pocket with plans for a 20-day vacation. I wanted to get the feel of the entertainment industry, return to Delhi, get a degree and return back to Bollywood!"
Golden Opportunity: "On my last day here I was offered a music video to be shot in Switzerland. I jumped at the offer. Fortunately I was carrying my passport. I thank God for this golden opportunity. Sadly, I chose Switzerland over being labelled a college dropout! The music video, 'Kuch dil ne kaha' starring Rakesh Bapat, Raima Sen and Nandini Singh and me, clicked! It helped pave my way into tinseltown. I grabbed the first offer that came my way, of a production controller in Agnipankh. They took me on because I was a Kashmiri and the film was to be shot in my hometown, Srinagar."
Debut film: "Besides that I did a TV commercial for Tropicana Juice in Mumbai as well as plenty of print ads in Delhi for brands like Cosmopolitan, Coke, Airtel, Lee Cooper and many many more. Electronic advertising in Delhi was non-existent then. I did all this until I was offered Imtiaz Punjabi's film Fun2shhh – Dudes In The 10th Century."
First Day, First Shot: "Fun2shhh…was the first film I signed and my debut release, but I had shot first for Irfaan Khan's Bullet On Target. It's a typical action-packed Bond-like film. I had to break into a house and while hunting for some papers, have an altercation with another guy. But in Fun2shhh… Paresh Rawal, Anuj Sawhney and I play jobless guys. We are hired as security agents, create blunders, are hit by a wall, lose our memory and end up in the 10th century. It's a comic adventure fantasy!"
Other films: "After Fun2shhh… I have Bullet On Target and Raju Mawani's Ek Datak-Adopted where I play the grey (later turning white) role of a Hindu fanatic."
Male Casting Couch: "I did hear a lot about this but experienced nothing. Vivek Vaswani and I are friends and he is always there to support me. He has also got me all my offers till date. People pass snide remarks about us, but they used to do this even when Vivek was friends with Shah Rukh Khan. I do have a lot of gay friends, but they are like my brothers, very caring, loving, emotional, sensitive and above all, helpful."
Real Life & Tomorrow: "I am a highly religious person and besides observing namaaz 5 times a day I observe all the practices of my faith. My ultimate aim as an actor is to aim for the No. 1 position! I am not a trained actor, but have groomed myself and picked up the intricacies of filmmaking. In fact I had taken a six-month sabbatical where I read a lot on films and watched plenty of movies. I believe that a good actor must be well acquainted with all the departments of filmmaking, including the way a film is projected in a theatre."
ring-tones can be customised with hip-hop numbers or the latest Bollywood chartbuster, what about a cell-phone screen that helps you stand out?
You can have everything – from a comic-book character to Aishwarya Rai on your phone. Incidentally, Rai (who also adorns a large number of desktops in the country) is one of the most downloaded phone screensavers. In fact Airtel (www.airtelworld.com) has dedicated a section to stills from Chokher Bali. "I have Ash on my screen. She makes a pretty picture," says model-actor Iqbal Khan.
