I am so glad that Ashaji brought up the name of Gana Saraswati Kishori Amonkar in today's episode.
Ashaji encouraged all the kids to learn classical music.
I think in this day and age of quick name and fame everyone wants to jump on the "phillum song" bandwagon and noboby wants to take the time to understand sur and spend years on "sur kee sadhana". Here is more on Pandita Kishori Amonkar:

very well said...the likes of Kishori Amonkar are becoming rarer and rarer in today's world(will they get extinct soon?) .....Learning classical music is an absolute necessity if someone wants to do well in music.Without that if they try singing film songs, they will never go far...of course, unless they are geniuses with some God given gift 😊
In today's world, ppl think that they can listen to these new film songs and become singers....And they even manage to reach the finals of some shows and with audience voting...kuch bhi ho sakta hai...so bad singers hog the limelight and good singers don't even enter the competition....I shudder to think of what will be dished out in the name of Hindi film msuic 25 yrs from now
