Star Plus' new show Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai is inspired from Rajeshree Productions' last hit Vivah.
Admitting it, Rajan Shahi, director of Bidaai, tells us, "Everything in the world is inspired from something. Those who deny it are liars according to m so yes there are similarities between Vivah and Bidaai."
About Bidaai, he says, "I liked the concept. We Indian have complexes and this can't be denied. Whenever we go abroad and people address us differently, it feels bad. We have many prejudices and biases. When they narrated the story I liked it very much and decided to direct the show."
So does he want to give credit to Rajshri? "Of course, I am very grateful to them and definitely want to give them the credit and their dues. In fact I have personally told them this. Whatever they have done in all these years is great and will be very difficult to beat."
He candidly adds, "I also took inspiration from the old movie Sujata as well as Nutanji who played the lead and Shashikala who played her sister. As director and the producer I am inspired by hundreds of things in this world."
Incidentally, Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai was supposed to be produced by Rajshri initially but that did not happen. But the show does give credit to the Rajshri in the titles. The name Bidaai is already registered with Balaji so it was also changed at the last minute.
