Studio 18 shell out 15 crores extra for WELCOME!
Studio 18/Indian Films', the worldwide distributors of WELCOME have actually paid 15 crores extra for the Anees Bazmee directed film. And that by their own folly!
As per distribution sources, both Studio 18 and UTV were in negotiation for WELCOME, but Studio 18 pulled out as they felt that 45 crores was too high for the film. The deal was clinched by UTV.
Interestingly, after seeing the response to the promos of the Feroze, Anil, Nana, Akshay, Katrina and Mallika starrer, Studio 18 got interested in the comedy film once again. In the meantime, EROS International jumped in the fray and offered UTV 60 crores for the all world rights of the movie.
However, Ronnie Screvwala of UTV decided to give Studio 18 another chance and offered WELCOME to them for 60 crores. This time around Studio 18 accepted it. And within a few weeks, they ended coughing up 15 crores extra, all because of an error of judgment.
