Part 12

------------------------
Mehendi, Shantivan

The house of peace as the name of Raizada Mansion stood for, felt uncannily peaceful and silent on the day of Mehendi of its owner. The sounds of drums and dhols reverberated through the halls of the Shantivan but couldn't manage to disrupt the inconceivable silence which evaded the heart of the bride herself.

Fake smile remained plastered to her lips just as her eyes remained to be anything but those of a bride. Anyone who had the ability to look beyond facades wouldn't fail to notice the fact that the look which hovered over the bride was not the happiness of her marriage but was more like a mourning of a death. Death of her dreams, her aspirations and her.

Anjali's endless teasing may have brought out a 1000-watt smile for the world to look at, but her eyes still showed immense grief and hollowness to the man searching for happiness in those hazel orbs of her. The blackholes which her eyes were, not only managed to suck in her own emotions but also managed to disfigure Arnav Singh Raizada's heart which he failed to notice many-a-times and hence met with disasters when he finally decided to use it.

Arnav was waiting for his pale lady to speak something to someone or at least fire insults and accusations at him just so that she escapes the somber chambers of silence in which she locked herself in but she seemed to care less for his demands.

As various patterns began adorning her hands, he could see that her face began losing whatever hints of happiness she was carrying. He was bound in a quandary harder than he could ever imagine to find himself in. He could let Khushi go, and free her from every kind of torment she was facing at the moment but pay a price of losing both her and his sister in the due course, something which he certainly didn't want. But neither could he see her in such a state where she shut away the world of emotions. Those emotions which once envisaged her in his mind.

But ASR was not one of those people who would wait till someone else took an action to help his situation. After all he made his own destiny. He moved down to the ground floor where the ceremony was taking place, against the orders of his dear sister and held a blank Khushi's arm to pull her along with him to his room.

He loosened his grip on her as they entered the safe premises of his room only to find Khushi trying to pull away her dupatta as she eyed him with a hint of mockery in her deep hazel eyes.

" Khushi, what are you doing? Stop it!" Arnav shut his eyes, embracing the darkness which engulfed him. The darkness which seemed better than the sight which he beheld. The sight of his love leaving every single sign of what she was.

" You wanted this right Arnavji? Then why this hesitance now?" It hurt Arnav that she thought that he had excused them both from their own Mehendi ceremony exercise his right on her when he only wanted to hear her talk. And when finally she did, all it did was to break his heart into pieces just as he shattered the dreams she held onto as her dear possessions.

" Khushi, it is not as you think. I just wanted you to talk to me." His words came like a trail of whisper and he hoped to see some reaction from her but it seemed as if the destiny had turned it's back to him as she remained as nonchalant as anyone could be.

" It suddenly seems so weird. You have been dictating terms to me ever since we have met and now when you want me to talk, I don't even know what to say." A inkling of splint of pain appeared in her eyes and vanished as fast as it appeared but Arnav's eyes which were looking at Khushi without blinking managed to capture it.

He felt his insides getting melted in pain to acknowledge the fact that he left her in a state where she was just swinging between pain and void and nothing beyond it. He wanted to curse himself but he couldn't help much. The life he had lived through couldn't give him any hopes of finding his love in the rightful manner. The lessons which his previous generation had learned the hard way were etched in his soul deeper than he could fathom. They ruled his actions, scripted his words and transformed the young Raizada completely.

" I am sorry, Khushi." Khushi looked up to see him straight in the eye as her brain received impulses with a smirk showing her contempt for him.

" I wish it could make a difference to me, Arnavji." Arnav couldn't succeed in understanding the reason why it made him cringe in disgust for himself. He wanted to slap himself for changing the love of his life so drastically.

" I want to show you something, Khushi. Will you come with me?" Arnav's broken voice managed to seed a feeling of surprise in Khushi's barren heart and it grew before Khushi could control it.

" Do I have a choice there, Arnavji?" The sarcasm which dripped from her voice would haunt his thoughts for days and he was assured of that but he tried to restore normalcy in his senses as there were more burning topics to handle.

" You do, Khushi. But I do want you to see this. Please. Allow me the privilege of showing you what I want to show you." The sincerity and softness in his eyes itched the very soul of hers and the only way to scratch that itch was by accompanying him to see this enigmatic thing. Her soul took the reins and compelled her to nod in approval while Arnav splayed a weak smile before guiding her towards their destination and Khushi weakly followed as if she had no other option there.

What was that which Arnav wanted Khushi to see?

Nice one
Though Arnav seeing Khushi is not happy with her marriage rituals, he is afraid to call off the wedding fearing he might loose both Khushi and Anjali. Waiting for the next one to see what Arnav is planning to show Khushi.

Thanks for the PM
