Namik' s new interview

Namik Paul, popularly known as Shravan from Sony's popular TV Show Ek Duje Ke Vaastey shares with JustShowbiz his journey into acting and many more exciting things. Here are few excerpts of our exclusive interview with Telly world's latest heartthrob.

How you started of your career in this industry?

I think this is start only in acting at least as I have been modelling for a while. I was modelling in Delhi and working at NDTV and then I moved to Bombay, I always aspired to be actor from school and college days used to theatres then. I took up some advertisements and then I started attending acting workshops and dance classes. Then I went for few auditions and slowly figured how things are done. I made few connections and they called me audition for Ek Duje Ke Vaaste and then I auditioned for this role in early December and we started in January for this role.

What excited you for this role of Shravan?

Shravan has some issues in life as his mother left him and has a backstory. I have also studied abroad in America and he is also oxford returned. He is rich and genius but on day to day he is normal average guy. You get to play charming sometime, he is sometime family guy and sometime he really can act like ass.

What you relate with this character?

He loves his family but not in blind way. It is not like saas bahu show where he can do anything blindly for family. He is aware of what his relatives like chachi wants from him. But in spite of all that he loves her.

How tall are you?

6 ft. 4 inch.

Does that make any issue in the show?

Team acknowledges about me that I am very tall even in the show we do joke about height and thus there is no issue and all. When I went for audition they did have concern. They have sometimes made adjustment for heights. Nikita will tell you more as she faces more issues in scenes with me. Sometimes we are standing close in frames then it becomes issue for her than for me.

Audiences are loving the crackling chemistry. Do you feel any pressure to sustain the same?

I don't think we do anything special for this. Nikita is very naturally talented actress and she is nearly perfect in every scene and she already has done a show. When you have experienced actors, it helps you to adjust and even reflects in your acting. We even bond well off-screen, we joke and pull each other's leg and good friends.

How is it working with Nikita?

She is very good human being. She is very talented actress. She has great sense of humor and she doesn't take things too seriously .She comes from Navy background and we sometime treat her as guy sometime and thus is easy chilling with her. We are good friends and after the show we give each other space. She is backbone of the show as story revolves around Sumo.

What you have learnt from all seasoned actors in the show?

Best part is that all of them are very approachable and are very humble to talk too. Some are working for 20 years and might get offended if I ask very basic question but there is nothing like that. You can go and ask them anything and they are very helpful. Actor playing Nanaji is very gentle person and is actually like nanaji of our show. It's been pleasant working with Satyajit sir too.

Now some personal questions. Do you have a girlfriend?

No I am right now busy with work so really happy with that.

What do you do when you get free time?

Since we have sometime night shifts so whenever I get free time I like to sleep. I do like to get out and work out in gym and have some personal work in our free time. Just some time back I went out with friends after a long time.

What is secret behind your height- Are you into sports?

I have no idea seriously, I was tall in school when I got to 6ft. I used to play cricket and then due to height I started playing basketball. Then I started loving the game and I have also played tennis.

Tell us about your family?

My family is very well educated and amazing. My father is a retired IAS officer and my mother is a lawyer and social right activist. My sister and brother in law are lawyers as well.

Any message for your fans?

I can't thank you enough as you all make us feel so good by loving our work. It motivates us to put extra hours and efforts. We have some exciting tracks coming so keep watching. Hope you all will enjoy.
