Chapter 16 (b)
Rey helped Taani in getting ready, then they both left for his college which was hers too a year ago. Whole ride from home to college, was filled with comfortable silence. Rey could tell she was nervous but she was trying hard to hide it.
"We have reached." Rey announced, breaking her trance. Taani blinked her eyes and looked out of the window. She stare at the st. louis premises, and could feel herself going back to time when she first time came here the bitter-sweet memories she had here, filled her mind.
"Taani, are you alright?" Rey turned to her and worry crossed his features when he saw her zoned out.
"huh? Yeah! I'm alright-" Taani mumbled, Rey gave a small nod in return and stepped out of the car, then he went to the passenger seat and opened door for her. Taani gave a small smile to him and got down from the car.
Rey slide his hand in hers as they begun walking inside the college premises, their arrival gained attention from people around. Taani held onto his arm tightly, she could feel all the eyes on her and it was making her nervous. Rey cursed the college students under his breath and wrapped a comforting arm around her, to ease her nervousness.
"There is time in ceremony to start, lets go in fire escape-" Rey said to her, taani gave a small nod to him. Fire escape, the place where their journey started and witness many ups and downs of their relationship. The place which gives them peace, where they used to spend time together, away from all, in their own little world.
Rey opened the door of fire escape and pulled her inside along with him. They both sat on the stairs. Rey wrapped his protective arm around her as leaned on him and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Taani, you remember, how we used to come here and spend time together?"
"I know. This was the most special place to me." He smiled when he heard her soft whisper.
"For me too, sweetheart." He whispered back, happy to get a positive response from her. She remembered their college moments, it was a positive sign. Till now she had avoid talking about past, she didn't likes to talk about anything related to their past lives.
"Taani, i was thinking, its been ages we have gone out, we need some change. So, i was thinking, why don't we both go shimla for a small vacation?" Rey asked her, though he had already arranged everything and has taken Rishi's permission for the trip, but now, all he need is her nod.
"Okay. Jaisa aapko theek lage." Taani mumbled, playing with strand of her hair. Rey smiled, he kissed side of her head.
"Thank you, taani, you know i really wanted to go with you. It will be a great change for you-" Rey grumbled happily, making her happy that she could do something to make him happy. These days, she felt helpless seeing how much he is trying to make everything alright for her, but in return she is giving him nothing but pain.
They were sitting there, in each others time, enjoying the peaceful moment until his cell phone ringed and brought them back from there fairyland. Rey took out his cell phone and saw swayum's name flashing on the screen of the cell phone.
"Hey, dude!" He picked up the call.
"Dude, where are you? Ceremony is about to start-" Came a reply from the other side, making him groan inwardly. He didn't wanted to go yet, he was very much enjoying his time with his love.
"I'm coming, Swayum."
"Come soon. All are waiting for you." And with that the phone line went dead. Rey slide his cell phone back in his pocket and turned to taani.
"Lets go. Ceremony is going to start now." Rey whispered softly. Taani gave a small nod to him and got up, followed by him. She was about to walk toward the door when he held her hand and stopped her. Rey step close to her, he cup her face in his palms and kissed her forehead.
Taani closed her eyes, savoring the feel of his lips against her skin. A tingling sensation ran through her. She wrapped her arms around him, embracing him tightly. She buried her face in his chest and sighed heavily. It was her own safe heaven.
They pulled apart from each other and left from there, to auditorium where graduation ceremony was held.
