----------------------------
Next Day; Sagai

Payal and Akash were heartlessly and lifelessly playing the parts entrusted to them by Khushi who wanted them to act along if they are happy with the wedding. It broke them from within but they couldn't break a promise they had given to Khushi especially when they knew by doing this they were going to reduce her pains at least by a fraction. At least Arnav Singh Raizada was not going to be furious at her. And was enough a reason for them to comply to Khushi's wishes.

Raizadas were true to their Punjabi rituals. Payal had to open the door to seven people carrying seven different types of dry fruits for them as a part of the ritual. Only if they could buy the happiness of her sister, but alas they could just erase hunger and not sorrow.

Later in the day, Khushi got ready with almost no soul in her for the Sagai which was mentioned by them in a note sent along with the dry fruits. Unlike every bride who seems to be excited to get a new name for the relationship of hers with her partner, Khushi stood emotionless. He had killed her emotions. She stared at the broken mirror of their restroom to see herself. She looked very beautiful just like her sister had said and broken.

Who says that whatever the mirror says was not true? At least it was true in her case. The girl who never wore anything but extremely vibrant colors had now chosen the most simplest of colors, the color which now expresses her situation; white.

White. The color which was formed when the seven colors of spectrum unite and blend seamlessly. Just as every emotion of hers turned monotonous and colorless. The color of which reflected the most light. Just as every happiness seemed to reflect away from her. For the first time in her life, she was appreciating the beauty of the pristine white and she knew that it was not going to be the last time, now that she found her allegiance in it.

Khushi moved back into her own room as she glanced at her wristwatch, knowing that the time of his arrival was approaching close. The nonchalance in her stance was something which she herself found wondering about.

She sat down on her bed, waiting to be called by her Jiji when they come. She was not eager to meet him, neither was she anxious. She felt nothing. Nothing at all.

The door creaked open to reveal Arnav Singh Raizada as she heard her sister's voice trying to stop him. Maybe he wanted to speak to her. She wondered if she could confer him with that favor. Yet another.

Something in him broke to see her in a situation as vulnerable as she was. Dark circles didn't adorn her under eyes as they had scarred her deeply and the eyes which once sparkled with innocent joy were now nothing but lifeless dark holes which sucked in every kind of happiness from her self.

" Khushi..."

How ironic did her name feel to him suddenly? Her name was Khushi. Khushi, happiness. And she herself was bereft of happiness. Metallic taste swept through his taste buds as hit bit his tongue in sheer frustration for himself.

She was not rebelling against him. She was just accepting it. All of it, without any question. Something in him broke when he saw the lifelessly moving corpse in front of him against the lively image which was etched in his heart. She was in front of him as he wanted. But she was not the Khushi he had fallen for. She was someone else. Someone who was not Khushi and someone who is not Khush.

" Are you okay, Khushi?" She shot him a weird look but there was no anger, no hatred, which he suddenly wanted to feel. Even if it was to hate him, she should be back to her original self. It hurt him to see her in one piece yet too broken.

" Maybe, Maybe Not."

That was an honest answer as she herself couldn't figure out if she was, which pounded his heart. What had he done to the lady in front of him, who managed to make his heart feel something to someone other than his immediate family?

" I think we should go out. I mean, Payal was coming to call you for the rituals when I offered to call you myself." She gave him a blank look, the meaning of which was beyond Arnav's understanding.

He would ask her if she was fine but wouldn't stop the engagement to take place. Such an irony it was. He poses a question which happens to be a symbol of concern when he actually doesn't care.

He knew she was coerced into doing this but getting out of it now would make him lose not just Khushi but also Anjali who would hate him to no limits after realizing the actuality. It just slapped him harder in the face that he had committed a mistake which he knew was going to hurt his sister and Khushi. How was he ever going to get back his old Khushi?

Khushi quietly began walking while Arnav followed her with a somber expression and regret pooling in his eyes, as they didn't leave her even for a second. Payal who was acting all pleasant in front of Anjali got up to her feet with painful expressions to guide Khushi into the place where she was supposed to be seated.

Anjali managed to tease Arnav and Khushi but both were too lost, though in two completely different things, to notice it. Fulfilling the rituals, Anjali draped a red veil on her head just as the pain she was enduring had blocked her mind up, and was serving as a cover to her inner tumultuous storm. Anjali left a dot of henna on her right palm which had turned like porcelain due to the paleness and lack of life in her system, just as someone's presence left a spot too difficult to erase till it wanted to leave by itself.

Her face which usually radiated emotions was today emotionless and pain clutched Arnav's heart in its ruthless hands, while piercing it with its dainty fingers making it bleed.

She was a rose. A bleeding rose. A bleeding rose, bleeding due to its own thorn. And he was the thorn who hated to be covered in the blood of someone he wanted to hide in his arms and protect.

Where would it lead to?

Nice one
Atleast Arnav realised that Khushi is bleeding due to his deeds and accepting whatever he asks her to do. Feeling sorry for Khushi to go thru this.

Thanks for the PM
