Very touching tribute to Dsa but one question.
What did Dsa start off as ? What was she when her life ended?
What were the factors in that transformation?
Wasn't Bhairon a man of progressive thoughts? Didn't he always try to convince Dsa? Why was he not successful?
Didn't Dsa see child marriages breaking up? Didn't she know how pitiful the lives abandoned child brides are before Anandi came in to her life?
She knew all the consequences of the traditional beliefs and practices even before Anandi came into her life but she never questioned those beliefs she believed in them and practiced them with utmost sincerity.
Didn't she see tragic events in her family before Suguna became a widow? Did she think there is anything wrong in buying Gehna for Basant?
So what made her question the traditions?
She came across this girl who constantly questioned the traditions which are aimed at weakening womens' status in the family and society. The girl may not even have realised what she was doing when she was constantly questioning.
When she saw the life of a girl who never shared her beliefs being ruined by her own beliefs practices and her actions did she change. She realised how right that girl had been and how wrong she was. That is when she started to question those practices and started disregard them.
The woman who opposed Anandi startung a school went on to sit on Dharna to protect that school's interests.
The lady who locked up little Anandi because she put bangles on the hands of child widow went on to endorse the rights of widow.
So who carried on whose legacy is the question here.
