"Mere bhaagya main itne anaratho ka nimmit bana kyun likha tha," Kayekai.

In one of my earlier post I said how much can we blame Manthara for everything that happened ? On one side we say/believe that things are predestined, it is also believed that destiny chooses its mediums. It can be a person, a situation or a place. The seeds for every momentous event are laid much before the actual event. In fact it is a chain of events that leads to the final act. Like our plays and stories where every event leads to the climax. In case of Ramayan the seeds to Ram's vanvaas were laid even before he was born that is when Dussharat killed Shravan Kumar, I believe the curse of Shravan's parents sealed Ram's Vanvaas. Kayekai became the medium through which the curse was materialised. On looking at the bigger picture she also became a medium of Ravan's death. However she also became the medium of Dussharat's death, Urmil's solitude, Bharat's grief. She and Manthara were merely pawns in destiny's design. In a way they acted as a bridge and helped Vishnu to fulfil his purpose of descending earth and yet they are disliked. You'll find people naming their daughter Sumitra and Kaoshalya but never Kayekai. My question is how wrong or right people are in blaming Manathara and Kayekai for Ram's vanvaas or Dussharat's death ?

That being said, if we really say that it was all destiny then aren't we simply trying to blame destiny for our wrong actions. Won't people like Kayekai and Manathara simply find a escape route by blaming everything on destiny ? Every Time you do something wrong you can simply justify your action by saying it was bound to happen.

The truth is neither we can blame everything to destiny nor we can deny that destiny works in its mysterious ways. I'm sure half my life will go in figuring out what was destined and what wasn't. 😊

it is true that the final destination is predestined but how one reach that place is what lies in our hand. If we have to move from one place to the other or shall we say one city to the other, there are so many means to reach such as 1. Going by bus
2. Going by train
3. Going in car
4. Going on hitch hiking
5. on a bike
6. walking
Again even after choosing the means of travel, there is still different ways to reach the destination.
1. using the high way
2. using the short cut,
3. using the dirt track
So Ram was destined to go for Vanvas and Dasharth was destined to die in the absence of his son but need not have to be this way or to come together. Ebvenm if Dasharath had died during Ram's absence from Ayodhya during his stay with Vishwamithra, Shravan's father's curse would have been fulfilled as none of the princes were present at Ayodhya even then but it didn't happen then.
Kaikeyi knew the level of hurt she was causing her husband with her wishes but still she went ahead. That is the nly reason people blame her as the cause of her husband's death.

Nice post Sumedha and Jaya what a nice way to explain destiny and action. I have always said you will not be able to neglect your call. One way or other you will have to answer it. Here though Kaikeyi became the medium but because of Mahatwakamsha. Now she is realizing what ever she had, she had let it go through her hands. She is repenting and at the end of 14 years she will come through penance when the larger goal becomes visible. I have always believed we always get choices in life. Even if we take the wrong choice after running around our destiny will bring us to what we are supposed to do. If we make the right choice we will reach there peacefully is my take.

True Shruthi, If we have to do something, let us do it in good mood than foul mood. If we do it in good mood, we will have the satisfaction of fulfilling something while doing it in foul mood will cost us our peace and also will end up with splitting head ache or fatigue. that's what I tell my colleagues who grumble to do some additional core or my daughter other kids in the family, that you are in any way have to attend the exam and pass it and to do that you have to study. so instead of studying with unhappiness like as if you have to cross the cliff (which has burning fire) which will cause you anxiety, study it with love, so that it will not tax you.
There is no way we miss the exam, so if I have to pass let me do it with grace and get some good marks than sulk during studies, which will result in sulking in exam hall and at the end sulk on seeing the result and say, I should have put in a bit more effort.
So guys, who ever (DD for sure and Charvi & Mila) is preparing for exams, please don't sulk as it is your fate to give exams now, so do it with grace. 😊😉

I liked your example 👏
We are bound to reach our destiny but how we reach there depends probably on our own decisions and destiny too.
I'll use the example you gave, I'm going from one city to another and as you pointed out there are many means to reach there but which mode of transportation I get again may depend on what sort of journey I'm entitled to face. If I'm destined to reach there smoothly and in most comfortable manner I'll probably decide to catch a plane or get AC first class train ticket. If I'm entitled to not so comfortable journey I'll probably have to go by bus or even on foot.

About Dussharat dying during the time when Ram was with guru Vishwamitra, I think that would have materialised the curse but not in the full essence of the curse. He was supposed to die in Putraviyoga, if he would have died earlier it would not have been same. Here he died knowing his son is sent to forest for 14 years, he may never return alive. That was viyoga in actual sense of the word.

'You will not be able to neglect your call' precisely and aptly said 😊
The other day I was talking to my grandfather and he said that after everything he has seen in life he now believes that destiny shapes karma. Or in your words you answer to that calling by your karma which brings you closer to your destiny.
