Hello #EDKVians!!!

My name is Riah Kapoor, and I am absolutely IN LOVE with this show right now. I'm one of those on-off Indian serial viewers. As in I will usually intensely love a show in the beginning, but then once it starts to become one of those cliche, nonsense drama type shows... I stop.

I live in the moment. Like, really LIVE in the moment haha If you know me, then you know what I mean. If and when I am obsessed... I am OBSESSED. 😉☺️

This show has just started...I am thoroughly enjoying it, and I just hope that this lasts for a long time. My best best BESTTT wishes to the #EDKV team, for a blissful... long run!! You have started off KILLER,...and I wish that you continue to do as well as you are, for many, many, many more episodes to come <3

OKKK. So intro, best wishes, and a little bit of praying for this show done. Now lets get to my post.

I want to dedicate this post to the writers, because I really think the best things about this show are the characters and their depiction. Each and every character is so well thought out and weaved into the story; I think it is really beautiful.

The characters are really, really well written. But most importantly, they're DIFFERENT. This is something that everyone always says when they start off a new show... the whole, "yes this is a never before seen concept, never before seen characters, its all new... the most unique show ever", etc. etc. But to be honest, it's rarely ever that different. Even with this show, I'm going to be real here, the concept and basic storyline is not really that different or new at all. It's the same as everything else... boy and girl hate each other, then they like each other, then they love each other, and along the way there's tons of problems. Even this whole idea: best friends in childhood, one-sided love, separation, reunion years later when they're older - it's like cliche romance, right? It's the usual basic story.

But EDKV is actually different and unique, because even though the basic idea is cliche - the CHARACTERS are unbelievably brilliant. They are nothing that you have seen before. From the main leads, to the side-supporting cast - EVERY CHARACTER is brilliant. And that... THAT is amazing.

Let's just look at last night's episode. Let's look at the characters. Each person is pivotal in their own way, in every scene they are in.

Khosla: the current "bad guy" of the show. He's the villain right now, but the way his character is written... I won't lie, I kind of love him. He's an asshole... He's trying to conn his way into taking over the Tiwari villa, and stepping all over his own dead sister's reputation and respect while he is at it. But just look at his mannerisms... his dialogues. He's evil, but NOT overtly malicious. To your face, he's pretentiously kind. He's evil with a smile on his face. Have you ever seen a villain with such an uncanny catch phrase? "Jeet hamesha sachai ki hoti hai". What evil, bad guy would say that? He catches ShraMan in the house, but doesn't get them arrested... just lets them go. Cut to, meeting outside the court... he welcomes the family, offers them prasad. He "cares" for Nanu... helps him sit, gives him his umbrella, some water, etc. Pretends that he respects him. Do you see what I'm saying? He's never evil in the dramatic, over the top way. Its always subtle, and yet really strong evil-ness. When he entered the show, he came into the house all nice... with gifts and all. But come end scene, we saw that slight but really strong evil streak when he asked for the money. It was all done behind a veil. And that, my friends, that... is reality. In the real world, someone who has bad intentions for you won't shove it up your face. Evil is CASTED. It's not dramatically obvious. Khosla is real. He is bad, but good kind of bad. THAT'S BRILLIANT WRITING.

Suman's Family: Nanu is of course a very important character, because he brings ShraMan together. We still have to really find out the backstory and how, why etc. that this all happens, but Nanu is the reason. And idk why but I have a feeling that in the future, he will also be the one to bring ShraMan together romantically. He will root for them just like we do. Nanu is our LEADER <3 But, you know what I love most about his character? He's not exaggerated at ALL. He's the reason these two families are together, the reason for the friendship of the main leads... and yet, his importance is not overemphasized. He's not like, in your face gung-ho ShraMan, you know? He's cupid, but not a cheesy, obvious cupid. BRILLIANTLY WRITTEN. I also love all of the other characters. Dabu - this adorable child is just a breath of fresh air. He's on our team, and he will definitely help Nanu play cupid. I like Suman's other relatives as well, but special mention here to her uhhh Mammi, is it? I think haha the one that's like super annoyingly greedy and bitchy LOLOL I want to point her out because she's a bit of a negative, rather gray, character... but its not like what we usually see. In yesterday's episode, we saw an example of this. She might be all about the money and whatever, but when it comes to family... they are still all standing together. That's really amazing, and I'm SO glad to see that reality in a TV show!! Even if there are differences, the characters are not so extremely dramatic that they lose touch of the simple reality that no matter what, family is together. I love that so much! And just... simple details are so amazing. Like, when Khosla was offering prasad to everyone... Suman's maserji just glanced at Nanu, and there was a very subtle approval that it's ok if he wants to take it. No one overreacted, that why did you take the prasad, etc. Everyone knew and understood that he being a Mata ka bhagat, he needed to respect the offering. It had nothing to do with Khosla. It's just that understanding, that simple fact of family. JUST. BRILLIANT WRITING.

Shravan's Family: again, all of the characters are so, so well written. The Vandy-Chachi bond is so different! Chachi has that negative streak in her, but Vandy is the foolish, blonde one who unlike what we would normally see, is actually not that negative at all. She's just following her Mummyji, and I love it. I also love Pushkar and Ramnath... I'm excited to how Ramnath's character develops. There is so much more we have to learn about him, and his whole connect with the Tiwaris. Also, Pushkar... does anyone feel like he and Suman's cousin will end up getting together?? Idk I feel like something like that will happen. Khair, I'm going to stop talking about this because this post is already RIDICULOUSLY LONG.

The characters are just so well written and depicted. It really is what makes this show so unique, and I needed to praise it!! 👏⭐️

IM LOVE LOVE LOVINGGG IT.

Here's to a great show and many more great episodes! :)

PS-- this is my first of what I feel like will be many posts here on this forum. I haven't spoken about ShraMan at all here, and I have done that on purpose. They deserve their own, very special first post by me... and I am just waiting for the right time to make it! Trust me, I am DYING to write about them... there is so much I want to say. SO. SO MUCH.

Dont worry guys... its coming. Its coming really, really soon.
