Acharya Chanakya a well know Indian teacher, philosopher , economist , jurist, and royal advisor to Chandragupta Maurya,is famous for his concept of Neeti i.e Ethics . One in particular, that forms the crux of this episode is practical method of following four steps to making someone do a task. Namely, first, Saam , a situation where the person is offered advice, and asked about issue. Next Daam, is to catch the person out by preying on an identified weakness, as all have a weakness.. like exploiting greed. Then Dand, the use of censure, punishment to make the person heed, take away something desired. Finally Bhed threaten to exploit the persons secrets.. restricting the person to one option only.. This policy can be applied to rearing children as it takes form of laying out expectations of acceptable and unacceptable behaviour. In the first instance ,talking to a child, offering advice. In the second instance rewarding good behaviour, extra play time.In the third instance , taking away something a child likes , no telly for a set time. So the child can see where she went wrong. The final one for a child , if her behaviour does not change ,would be having the parents in as the final option...
Saam , talking through with Raja ,more so making him aware that his ways are not unknown to them. Viplav tells him they are aware he is here to trick their family, and before going further they want him leave. Raja will not take this sitting down as he too is a very strong position ..his wife Shalu is the pawn he has in his hand..hence Raja knows Viplav and Dhani in fact the family's Daam.. Shalu's love for him! Raja mocks them , he's scared they will expose him and his intentions! He'd best leave..and he virtually turns to leave the room, but then turns and gives them advice, instead! mocks them so soon the pair of them accept defeat and beg for mercy! Dhani snubs him leave as he is being asked politely, next time might not be the case ,besides it Viplav's maturity that makes him speak politely to him. Raja sees them in a receding position and mocks Viplav in particular , what did he say outside the courtroom that him and drama queen mother should leave Banaras or else? Well nothing happened and what's more he's not budging either! the truth is he is in Banaras before him in his house! bemused Viplav replies yes he can see that, and that's why he got the beats from him! but an empowered Raja tells Viplav , now he can't harm him! he mocks hope they are not recording all this to be handed over the police! and what if dadaji finds out? what if Shalu finds out? he mocks them! Raja tells them go tell whatever to whoever! wont make any difference to him! Viplav disagrees, and cusses good! he realizes that his mother is a drama queen! regards Shalu , he is her brother..you guys just came into her life few days ago ,he knows Shalu and he will win her trust back in a few days..and he will be exposed.. Viplav sneers in Raja's face. Raja replies ,if this is a challenge then he accepts it! he and this wife of his can do whatever they like! they can play their game while he will play his game! We'll see who'll stay in the Tirpathi family they or him? Viplav bursts out laughing, is this guy mad or what? Raja gives them a dirty look and storms out of the room! Viplav's reaction at Raja s bravado is amusing , apart from him being a criminal , Dhani hadn't told him the guy was insane as well! Dhani, warns him not to take him lightly he stops at nothing! Dhani suggests that involve the police but Viplav knows without solid proof they won't arrest Raja ! but his truth has to be exposed before all . For the moment things don't look too good Viplav to connect that Raja' new found confidence where is it coming from? Raja's pawn comes and creates a din that Viplav has stooped so low that he will file a complaint against Raja to get him ousted out the house! Shalu says Raja's told her all they have been saying to him. Viplav then adds , did he tell her what he came to their room for when she stopped him from punching him? did she see a sari lying on the floor that he brought to give to Dhani? Shalu looks taken aback and Viplav tells her to open her eyes he is a demon! but Shalu loses it! screams at Viplav does not want to face the reality about Raja that Viplav and Dhani want to point out! its like she'd rather not face the truth, because she wishes to cling on to Raja, he had preyed on the girl's emotional state! knew from day one she would be his ticket to AN! She warns Viplav like he stands by Dhani! she too will stand by Raja!Shalu storms off but Viplav holds Dhani hand hugs her from behind and welcomes her to the circus! what other event would she like next? Dhani is not amused. But Viplav points out it was her idea to talk to him first place ,whereas he knew it won't work he s not worth it! for one cannot reason with inherently wicked people!
The night of the veneration.. an occasion of reverence , regard and celebration.. turns out to be within the minds of some, a moment of Bhed, exploiting the secrets or weakness of others. For Viplav in Shalus 'room, comes an idea that they will have to expose Raja on the day of the veneration!! Raja in Viplav's room too fumes, on the day of the veneration all will see, who will be the rightful heir of this house, him! and not that Viplav tirpathi for that will be Viplav s last day in this house ! Kanak lounges in her rocking chair in her room and wickedly speculates, on the day of the veneration ,she will insult that witch Dhani before all!, then kick her out of the house!to make her happy she accepts such a huge responsibility !and under that pretext ,one mistake from her and the witch will be out! of Viplav's life and this house!
Four parallel lines of powdered colours red, yellow, orange blue! drawn on the floor .Viplav stands above them with a stick ready to talk through the Chanakya ethic..he explains to a beleaguered Dhani, these lines represent the medium we can use to win some ones heart , make them do what we want them to do! this first one is Saam, to give advice to someone, and get our work done.After which comes Daam, to bribe someone, to buy someone. After this comes Dand, Dhani adds, to hurt someone and he nods correct! After this comes Bhed! Which means to remind someone of their past and before the whole world force them to accept their crime! Viplav rubs the blue off they have done Saam ,now we move to daam..now we will have to exploit Raja's weakness..
Shalu tries to insult Dhani as a comeback to Viplav insulting Raja..during morning worship snatches the pooja platter from Dhani ,says it the family's job ,so let the family do it.. she's not needed here ,but Dashrant yells at Shalu ,reminds her, Dhani is the chooti bahu of the family so work peacefully.. Viplav and Raja too stand for the worship. Dashrant reminds them from tomorrow its nine days of Navratri so ensure every one lives in peace and harmony! Viplav and Raja give each other sided glares.. Raja takes over the bell from Dashrant to show his sense of obeisance gets blessed but the arti is performed by Viplav the heir much to Raja's annoyance! ..but has to leave straight away as his phone rings .viplav doesn't tarry either , hears Raja talking to someone ..raja says he'll be there.. and drives off! decides to follow him in his car..
Raja stops at some place. Viplav follows him , he talks to someone on the phone. Viplav thinks Raja has spotted him, he hides..but Raja goes to do the drivers window up! Raja waits for some one! its Kanak!. Viplav sneaks out of his hiding place and walks away! But Kanak spots him and tells him to come shopping with them...to buy clothes for the veneration. He turns her down but she insists he should spend some time with his mother too! Dhani's not here.. Viplav ends up in the garments store , Kanak tells Raja to buy whichever he likes and Viplav mutters dryly to his mother , buy a sari for him..kanak glares at Viplav!.. then Viplav spots Raja's weakness can't resist a pretty face .. he veers off to the counter where a young sales attendant stood..viplav watched how the demon flirts ,ogles over the pretty young attendant..finally as the girl passed him over sari's on his request, he begins to caress the girls hand!..dhani had mentioned what a lecher Raja was but now Viplav watches with his own eyes.. he knows exactly what his next move is! begs to leave the shop and phones Dhani ,he got an idea Dhani waits for him and he drives up wants to know where she is?? its Rajlaxmi Viplav says he has a task for her..then .. the sound is muted.. Dhani is reluctant but Rajlaxmi is game and ll three shake hand on the idea..one for all and all for one!
An episode with substance.. the focus on Chanakya's neeti ethics.. kanak meeting raja .. reminded me of kanak trips meeting.. raja seemed pretty militant was put off..hamlet53 8.4.16
