after a long time there r couple of shows on sony that gvs me goosebumps with every single scene btwn the leads...
but this is kuch rang pyar ke aise bhi forum and so i want to stick to this...

i hv been silent so far but thot of writing about my feelings today...

i love everything about the show since the characters r very real and so far consistent...dev's overprotectiveness toward his mom may apparently seem OTT but i hv seen such guys in real life and unfortunately the men that i know ended up getting divorced...but well let me hope this show is not about the gloomy effect of such mother-son bond...
ishwaris's possessiveness...and loving one child most to the point that the second child feels neglected is another thing that i can connect...

dev is a very complex character...he has a heart of gold but at the same time he has the eyes of arjun (hangover i guess 😉) and so he gets wat he wants by hook or by crook...

for him if the goal is just and fair then any path taken to reach the goal is fair enuf...shaheed's controlled acting has made this character top notch...

he is a very much family man and can read the hearts of his family members...neha was made to sacrifice her studies and childhood so that dev cud go to the best school...obviously that is a great guilt in dev which makes him do the best things for her like gving her the best room in the house...wat i like is he is practical too and for that reason he was adamant not to gv her a separate AC as they hv a central AC...i guess after neha insisted so much he had to gv in eventually...

i also liked the part that he avoided playing colors during holi since he has seen all the dark colors of life and the first color that he played was with sonakshi...i liked it how he did not angrily walk away but threw colors on her knowing very well she wud throw colors back at him...

i also liked how he first fired her to force her to become her mom's personal nutritionist...not bad i will say...being a self-made man he has seen poverty in his life...he has seen his mom struggle for every single grain of salt...thatz y today he wants everything best for his mom and sonakshi is the best nutritionist in delhi...wat i liked is that he apologized and at the same time admitted that where his mom is concerned he fails to draw the line btwn right and wrong...

apparently he may seem to be selfish but for him if the cause is noble nothing else matters...and also he ensured that sona's career is not affected by this which is why outside the hospital word is out that sona has left the job and not that she has been fired...that is y wen mr. ahuja enquired about her he was told that she left the job and not vice versa...that way her goodwill and reputation is intact...

now about dev's breaking sona's alliance with kushal...i know this issue has received all kinds of criticisms...but i hv my personal outlook about this...

although dev's character is very complicated he is actually a very simple man by heart...he reacts according to wat he feels and does not know the formal etiquette of keeping a smiling face while his heart is bleeding...

i conclude this from the scene where he first met kushal when the latter came to pick up sona...from the very first sight dev very clearly gv the signal that he does not approve him...the reason was quite simple...his mom's heath has recovered to a large extent because of sona's care...his entire family's food habit is lukd after by sona...today he can work peacefully in his office knowing that sona is there in his house to take care of his mom and sisters...almost as if sona has become a natural element in his house without whom the peace and stability in his family will be disrupted...it is not dev's conscious feeling but something that has grown in him even before he is aware of it...

i remember very well wen sona was walking toward him wearing sari for the first time (btw she was luking ravishing) dev's expression was more of anger and irritation than admiration...the fact that an independent girl like sona had to behave as a mannequin to get married was one thing that was on the top of his mind which is y he later said that if she married kushal then kushal will always make her feel that she is doing job because he is allowing her...
secondly...dev was irritated by the fact just wen he is hving peace of mind regarding his mom because of sona's care she is getting married and shifting to mumbai...

another thing that i noticed about dev is that he never thinks before he acts...he is a man who follows his heart and not his brain...gud or bad i love such men...the way he walked away from that spot where sona was standing in sari and immediately called tina to get details of kushal's bg it was clear he felt responsible toward her for several reasons because she is taking care of his mom and as i already explained sona has almost become like a part of his family...

if he can break his ethical behavior by firing sona to recruit her for his mom then he can again break his ethics to retain her for his mom...as simple as that...it is not about interfering in sona's personal life...it is about retaining the best nutritionist for his mom...and then dev also feels that it is only a 3 month contract after which she is free to live her life...however, the fact that sona is nomore just a nutritionist but is also slowly stealing his heart is something he is yet to understand...for the time being he is apparently doing everything for his mom...

in the episode where dev went to meet kushal in the restaurant with the obvious reason to brk the alliance i can see many viewers felt he acted like a robot...but then i feel shaheer was very much inside the skin of dev's character...dev at that time had a very clear picture what he planned to do...he was not there to sing praises of sona to kushal but he was there to make kushal break the alliance...it was an intentional move and not like the cliche that he wanted to test kushal if he is the correct man for sona...for this reason dev gv no expressions in that scene...

he was not praising sona and so there was no expressions of admiration...he was only blabbering watever was coming to his mind...he was manipulating the truth...it was true that he was the only person outside sona's family member to attend her mom's bday but he failed to admit that he went there uninvited...it was also true that sona was taking care of his entire family's diet but he failed to mention that she was doing this because his mom insisted by constantly telling her that she is taking so high salary...in this way dev manipulated the truth to make kushal believe that sona and he are lovers...at that time dev was only an observant...his lack of expressions was because he was not actually praising sona but was only observing if his words were hving the desired effect on kushal...dev just wanted to make sure that his words struck the right cord and kushal wud break the alliance...

wat i liked best is dev's attitude toward sona after all this...he does not know about the convo btwn his mom and sona...how ishwari convinced her that kushal is not the right man for her and she shud thank the person who broke the alliance...since dev doesnt know of this convo so he is still believing that sona blames him for kushal's rejection...in spite of dev knowing this he so coolly manipulates her to go the party by insisting that she must come for the sake of her patient...

wat i liked best is that wen ahuja was offering sona a much better job dev was luking at her with a very confident expression...he was absolutely widout doubt that sona wud refuse the job and so wen she actually refused there was no sign of relief in his face because he already was convinced that sona wud refuse...such confidence in sona is really something great since dev was still reeling from the feeling that sona is angry with him because of kushal...
this only shows even dev is not aware wen and how sona has become a person whom he trusts implicitly and on whom he can readily depend...

and i dont know how to describe the dance sequence...it was beautiful and the dialogues were even more beautiful...i loved it how he coolly as if he has all the rights in the world to drag her to the dance floor...

those lines... "aap chali jaegi to (then after an afterthought)...ma ko bura lag jaega"
"kyun"
"because u r best (then a pause) i mean the best nutritionist...
and the bestest line
"aur aise hi maine aapko paane ke liye itni mehnat nahi ki (again after an afterthought) i mean as a nutritionist of course"

and that part where he left her after telling him that he wanted to dance with her and minister's daughter was just an excuse...he was worried that sona wud get angry...and wen sona said he does not know much about girls he again started dancing with her taking this as a hint that she is also enjoying the dance as much as him...

the car scene was equally gud...in this entire dev-ishwari relationship i believe that dev is very much aware that his mom is very possessive and wont easily let him enter into a relationship with another girl...but at the same he cannot refuse nature's rule...he is a young eligible bachelor and sona is young attractive and his mom's savior...he cannot and he wont suppress the growing feelings for her...

the logical thing is that he shud be dropping sona first for 2 reasons...first she is already late for home and second his mom and he stays in the same house and so doesnt make sense to drop his mom first and then going to sona's place...but he did this to gv the signal to his mom that he is aware that his mom pushed sona aside to sit in the front seat...and also he wants to spend some more time with her...

at the same time he knows how to control his feelings and take one step at a time...he is just newly becoming conscious of sona's meaning in his life and today itself he doesnt want to express more than wat is needed...that is y he refused the music and icecream...in spite of spending a pleasant evening with her he wanted to keep a part of it formal...

i am simply loving the character dev...

P.S. sorry for such a long post...

and what the hell are you apologizing for ? this is absolutely wonderful. like you wove magic with your lines and after watching the episode 5times, it felt just perfect to read your lines and reliving the scene again.
this kind of analytic posts are very much needed on this forum.

so,
dear writer, dont vanish or go back to your silent avatar 😆 after charming us with this fantastic post. Make this a part of your daily routine. One analytical post per good episode ? there would be no dearth of readers to discuss and appreciate your hard works. So is that a deal ?
