@Shruthi: I see. Certain articles & books are meant for controversy only like this scientist Dr. Lanza's writings. 😆
Recently I come across an article in PLOS ONE where the author concluded with the words "The explicit functional link indicates that the biomechanical characteristic of tendinous connective architecture between muscles and articulations is the proper design by the Creator to perform a multitude of daily tasks in a comfortable way." 😆
There was much of criticism over the acceptance of the article by editor and later it was removed with apology.

Reg Da Vinci Code, I know it but was not interested to read it fully. That much interest I have in it because of my school😆

@Ramya Da vinci Code is a racy thriller if you keep aside everything and Ashwin Sanghi kind of created the Indian version of it " The Krishna Key". Only problem is that Da Vinci Code is fast paced with not a line out of place, Krishna Key is really dragging at parts.
Lost Symbol is still reabable, but Inferno uff it started of as a thriller but the end was like wet cracker 😆😆

In Hinduism, the body that the soul has on earth is temporary. After death, this body decays.. the soul however remains. It does not directly pass on into another body again.

In short summary, the soul stands trial for its karma. Based on it it goes through heaven/hell.. At the end of some time period it is reborn. The birth may not be in the same species.. Say for example, a man may not be reborn as man again.. He may be reborn as a vulture or a cat or a cow.. It depends on his sins and karma. The cycle continues until its final liberation attaining Moksha. This would take numerous different births to achieve.

Most souls do not remember their previous birth. It is said that when one is in the trails in hell, they remember all their past births and karmas. The child within a mother's womb remembers it but the minute it is born, the memory vanishes.

It is however also considered that our sub conscious retains some of these memories.. especially the punishments from hell and this is why sometimes we stop ourselves from doing something fearing a dire consequence. We call it instinct, consciousness.. etc.

For some though, it is possible to see their previous births and their future. the Rishis could do it. Perhaps there are exceptions to even men and women in this accord and they see their previous births? I am not sure.

Italics- I know about this aspect of the theory. I said that soul changes bodies only to simplify the concept.

Bold - wow, didn't know this. Thanks for sharing

Coming to soul I have also heard that it changes bodies. The physical cover changes but the inner core remains intact.
Am not sure whether we can remember past life, but then there are certain decisions which we take the knowledge of which may not be in present life. Certain knowledge which we cannot explain logically. Maybe that comes from our past life knowledge.
I have also heard that the astrological chart at the time of birth depicts the path based on our karma balance in previous birth and based on the karma in this life that path can be changed.

Yes even I have heard that merely saying Hari will attain moksha, Although personally I doubt.

It is not science fiction. Actually Dan brown's books Da vinci code, Lost Symbol and Inferno are controversial in their own way.

Reason he takes on Christianity and its tenets head on telling they have buried the real knowledge which was available with nature worshippers. If you read his books you can see in the cult group theories which he discusses are very much related to that of Sanathana Dharma. And the interest of modern science in those things.
Da Vinci Code I guess is banned by Vatican and many of my Christian friends have refused to read it.

I have not read Lost symbol but other two I have read.

About the similarities b/w cult group theories and Sanatan dharma I think those similarities are mostly because they belonged to a certain time period. You'll find similar beliefs in many ancient religions like worshipping Sun, Nature and femininity.
And it seems logical Sun was worshipped because it was only source to get rid of darkness, fire was discovered later and even it got a sacred place in many religions. Nature was worshipped because it was the only provider of all the needs of man, it still does but today we have become too arrogant to acknowledge it.
Femininity was worshipped because it of miracle of child birth, since they really didn't understand the biology behind it to them child birth was a divine miracle.

I'm sure you must be aware of similarities between Greek mythology and Hindu mythology. Greek mythology had their version of Indra Dev, Agni Dev, Goddess Swarswati etc.
This shows that at a certain point of time people all around the world had same mind set or belief system.

@Yes Sumedha I have read Greek mythology also Illiad and Odyssey and many Greek stories and I know they have the equivalent of all of our Gods. And Greece was a great civilization at par with Indus valley civilization so was Egyptian civilization. They also had Gods like ours.
In fact the Aftrican Maya Civilization was also well advanced and it is said the Renaissance Period of Europe was the great contributor to art and culture . But Renaissance in Europe happened much later.
Actually the connect with the nature is somewhat lost in the later period due to Monolithic cultures as all the great civilizations perished.
@Ramya it is not exactly like Immortals of Meluha but yes in a way that genre.
