Part 2

Many many happy returns of the day son! So how did you find the birthday surprise?' ' Suhasini asked. Killer one.. Anyways I loved it. Thanks mom' Adarsh was very happy to see his mom after a long break. But your flight was booked for some time next week right? So how come today?' Adarsh looked at her questioningly. Oh.. I thought to come and disturb you guys..haha' She laughed aloud.

All this while Swadeenta was staying standing to kitchen slab. She felt a little out of place in between Son and Mom. At the same time she felt happy that Adarsh was smiling whole heartedly after a long time. Swadeenta..' She was brought back to the present by Suhasini's words. Where are you lost? Come lets cut the cake..' She saw Suhasini and Adarsh at the table looking at her.

Not mom anymore. First bite belongs to wife now. Mom comes only after that' Suhasini pointed towards Swadeenta when Adarsh offered her the cake in first place. Little hesitantly he turned to Swadeenta with cake. But to his surprise again she took the cake and fed him and took a small bite. She then eyed him to give the cake to Suhasini. Still lost in the surprise Adarsh fed cake to his mom as well.

Adarsh.. If you are free in the evening.. Lets go out for a dinner tonight..' Swadeenta told him while combing her hair. Adarsh gave her a questioning look. She saw that look in the mirror. I said because..' she turned to face him, today is your birthday... And mom is already here..!'. Ah.. Yes.. I was thinking about the same.. I can pick you up from hospital in the evening after work and we can go together.. Is that okay?' Adarsh observed Swadeenta's facial expressions to catch what was going on inside her mind. But as usual he saw the calm and composed face without any of her thoughts coming up on her face.

How does she do this?' he asked himself. He rarely saw her expressing her thoughts. She always made it a point to keep all her happiness, anger, sadness hidden beneath. She never expressed it. She was always composed. Ok Adarsh.. I will then not ask driver to wait..see you in the evening..' saying Swadeenta left the room for hospital.

Mom.. What are your plans for today?' Adarsh had not got enough time to catch up with his mom last night and in the morning when he went downstairs, he saw his mom in her meetings with client over phone. So he thought not to disturb her. Actually Swadeenta and I were planning for a birthday dinner tonight.. Can you also make it?'. Adarsh knew Suhasini would be busy working, but he really hoped she agreed. He didn't want to be alone with Swadeenta. Ah.. Sorry Adarsh.. I have an important meeting with some client.. And I do not think I would be able to make it for dinner after that.. Also, I need to be back home today evening.. Manohar would be back tomorrow Morning.. And you know your dad.. He will be mad if he doesn't see me at the door..' Suhasini looked apologetically at him. Adarsh was upset. Swadeenta had the dinner plan in first place to make Suhasini happy and now she is not even here. Adarsh tried hard to not bring all those going inside on his face. He didn't want his mom to know what is happening in his life.

But unknown to him, Suhasini already knew. Adarsh.. You are my son.. How can you even think you can hide things from me..' She thought. She knew things were not perfect in her sons life as she expected. She was waiting for things to settle down on its own. Relationships take time to become perfect. But now, it was almost a year of marriage for Adarsh and Swadeenta and they were still at the same spot. That is why Suhasini thought to help get things in place for her son and daughter in law!
