Madhuri Dixit might not come to Mumbai to promote Aaja Nachle as she isn't happy with the film's publicity
Yash Raj Films's Aaja Nachle isn't just a comeback film for Madhuri Dixit. It's the comeback film of the decade. It's a big project for the banner, who are banking on this one to bail them out the Laaga Chunari Mein Daag mess.
The first teaser of Aaja Nachle gave a glimpse of Madhuri's trademark dance moves. The first reaction to the promos was promising.
However, the title track's promo didn't live up to its promise.
An industry source reveals that Madhuri has sent feelers to Yash Raj indicating her displeasure, "The Aaja Nachle title track is the major highlight of the film. She didn't think it was a smart move to release that promo so early on. She also feels that the second promo, the Show Me Your Jalwa song gives away the entire plot. Madhuri is questioning the logic behind leaking out the plot so early." This perhaps makes sense to the Chopras, who kept Laaga Chunari Mein Daag undercover, and the strategy backfired.
Personal call
It is learnt that Aditya Chopra personally called Madhuri and asked her to fly down to India to promote the film which releases on November 30. "Adi knows how important it is for this film to work. This is the biggest comeback vehicle for the biggest star that the country has produced, so it's important that it works", adds the source.
A source close to the production house reveals that Madhuri has developed cold feet and may not come down for the publicity of the film. "She isn't too happy with the response the promos have got. Except the title track, the music hasn't really caught up yet."
Madhuri's secretary Rikku Rakesh Nath who maintained all along that the actress would return to India sometime close to the release date, now says, "I just spoke to her sometime back. She hasn't decided when she will fly down." He hastens to add that Madhuri is more than happy with the promotion of the film, "There's no problem at all."
