Teji Bachchan is off the ventilator but still in the ICU

In the past few days, rumours have been doing the rounds that Amitabh Bachchan's critically-ill mother Teji Bachchan, who has been at Lilavati Hospital for months, has taken a turn for the worse.

Yesterday, a concerned and very tense Amitabh said, "She has made slight progress. She's off the ventilator now but still in the ICU. We can only keep our fingers crossed and pray."



As soon as news about his mother's health spread, crowds began milling around the Bachchan abode, Jalsa, at Juhu Scheme.
A close friend of the Bachchan family adds, "The family really wants to be left alone in this time of distress.

Everyone from Amitji and Jaya to Abhishek and Aishwarya cancelled their engagements including their commitment to attend the premiere of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya on Wednesday to be close to the matriarch. Aishwarya wouldn't move from daadimaa's bedside. The atmosphere was tense and very charged."
