" And that's exactly why me and Payal thought to marry in secret. We were under the impression that if the matter reaches our parents then the marriage would never happen, owing to Manorama Mami's thoughts on this and there was a possibility that Nani would succumb to her influence." Akash made his entry while Arnav greeted him with a warm smile on his face.
" Seems like the temperature of the room has gone up. I will go fetch some water for all of us." Arnav got up to fetch some water as he saw Payal getting uncomfortable she sobbed hysterically and probably needed some water.
Khushi caressed Payal's upper arms in an attempt to calm her down while Akash held her hand in his while a thought struck Khushi seeing the love in Payal's and Akash's eyes for each other as they looked at each other and Khushi being Khushi couldn't hold her thoughts with herself.
" Jijaji, you and Jiji had loved each other truly and you are blessed with a family who knows how to value love and identify it. I am sure that if you had asked your family's permission to marry Jiji, they would have surely granted you permission. Saying this, I don't condemn your deeds at all. In fact I am extremely ecstatic that my sister got someone who loves her so much that he was ready to forget everything else. Only a few have the guts to stand for what they want and what they feel is right, and I am happy that my Jijaji has that rare quality in him because I know that my Jiji will always be happy with you." Khushi displayed one of genuine warm smiles to Akash who reciprocated the same to her while speaking in a calm and composed voice,
" Thank you so much for understanding me, Khushi. One thing is surprising me, you appreciate this quality of mine but you turned ignorant towards Arnav's unconditional love. You hold such a good understanding of this feeling of love but you are still not able to understand my brother's true love for you. Why is it so Khushi? I am sorry if my words have offended you but being in a position which is like a brother to you, I want to see my sister smiling and happy always. And I know Arnav is capable of keeping you happy forever as the love he has for you glistens in his eyes. Don't think that I am saying this because I am Arnav's brother because I am saying this as your brother-in-law."
Khushi was put into a deep thought about a person who had tormented her beyond expression. She still found no reason to absolutely trust Arnav with something as important as marriage because the person who could play such a cruel prank to ridicule someone to extract his revenge was someone who wouldn't enter her good books. If not for Arunima Aunty whose love reminded of her own mother and her mother who considered Arnav to be her son-in-law, Khushi wouldn't have hesitated for a second to drag him to the court.
They had been behind each others' lives since the very first meet of theirs and a few words from him, about him were not suffice to change his personality in her view let alone making her accept him. Adorning a smile on her lips Khushi began speaking,
" Jijaji, I can definitely not question your intention behind advising because I know that you have the best of the intentions. But think of this situation from my perspective, which no one does. I had gone to act for a short film for my college, taking it as an opportunity to boost my acting career which I had always dreamed of. I was ruthlessly insulted in front of all those actors whom I believed were crew assisting the shooting as per the instructions of your brother. And later it was revealed to me by the priest that he had completed every single ritual of marriage. That was not it, your brother had another revelation to offer; that the shooting was a fake one too. I was in hopes that I would forget the accidental marriage as a mistake considering how good an opportunity I got through the shoot.
But even those hopes shattered like every hope of mine when the video of that prank went viral on the net and as you know, jitni mooh utni baatein. I was subjected to hundred different types of taunts like why I was still in my maternal home, that marriage happened so suddenly because I was pregnant due to an illicit affair and that I might have been characterless that there were no family members in the video. I thought everything would go back to normal but no. Mumma wanted me to accept this marriage and come here, to Lucknow to escape all those taunts by forgetting my studies, my dreams and my everything. I had lost myself to the society which I hated for its views.
Destiny played a brutal game with me in these two weeks, Jijaji. Don't mind me saying this but trusting your brother is something I am not yet capable of. I cannot trust that person who destroyed my family's reputation and my life since they very second he entered my life. Even if I bring my mind to trust him, my heart is not in a position to forgive him for all that happened. My sincere apologies for that, Jijaji."
Khushi rose up from her position and walked away, not wanting anyone to see the painful tears which formed in her eyes as she recollected the incidents which gave her nightmares in her sleep everyday. She didn't sleep everyday, she just shut her eyes from the reality, that reality where no one understood her. Someone expected her to go live with that person who destroyed her everything while someone expected her to reciprocate his love for her. But no one understood her predicament through all this.
She had paid a huge price for ridiculing his name; that name which destiny chose to join with hers. Without a sin of hers, she was being tormented in the hell every second of her life. As it is said, even love becomes a curse when it is unwanted.
Unknown to the trio indulged in the conversation, there was one more person who had witnessed this conversation only to plunge himself deeper into the sea of agonizing redemption.
How was he ever going to relieve his lady love of the pain given by him?
