PART 1
Khushi was in a dilemma.
She had no answer to her Amma's question about when would her one day husband come to pick her up.
What was she supposed to tell her Amma that she hadn't seen her
husband since her post-wedding rituals? Or better yet, that he hadn't even
bothered to tell her the reason behind his disappearance?
She had kept waiting for him for a long time, sitting in her decorated-for-a-
wedding-night bed. But he had not come and she had drifted off to sleep
tired from all the activities of the day. She had meant to discuss the pace
of their relationship with him.
When she woke up the next day, she had the first cooking ritual. When
everyone had heartily praised her culinary skills, she couldn't help
that ache in her heart that her husband hadn't tasted any of it.
Soon after her brother Nikhil had come to take her for the Pag Phera
ritual. And here she was, standing with her Amma after having had a
wonderful time with her family.
Oh did she tell you that the husband in question here was none other than
Mr. Arnav Singh Raizada. And hers was an arranged marriage. Her Amma
and his sister Anjali had met in a temple and things had progressed
henceforth.
Just as she was about to open her mouth to refuse, a husky voice
answered on her behalf. "Namaste Uncle Aunty. Hey Nikhil."
Khushi turned behind and was pleasantly shocked to see her husband
standing there with a bouquet of her favourite red roses in one hand and a
gift bag in the other. He was dressed in a crisp navy blue suit with a white
shirt and no tie.
She slapped herself mentally for drooling over her Greek-God-looking
husband when he closed her open mouth after handing over the bouquet
to her. She blushed furiously when he winked at her saying his husky
"Hey."
He then went to her parent, handed over the gifts and took their blessings.
He talked with her Babuji about his business. He and Nikhil almost had a
healthy fight about the safest car. Yes, cars was their common passion. He
then excused himself and went to her Amma in the dinning room to inquire
about her health. After sometime they took their leave.
On their way back Khushi couldn't help pondering over her mercurial
husband. They sure needed to have a talk. But nevertheless she was very
happy with his warm behavior with her family.
During dinner Arnav had eaten away the sugar free kheer she had made
for him with a poker face. She had looked forward to his view about her
kheer but was utterly disappointed.
Later in the night when Khushi came up to their room after having had a
long chat with Di and Naniji, she found the room empty. She took her
nightgown and left for a shower. When she entered after the shower, she
stopped dead in her tracks drooling over her sexy husband.
He was wearing a V-neck grey shirt and black pants. But what took
her breathe away was his spectacles. Yes, he was wearing a black rimmed
spectacles and was reading a book with utmost concentration. Hey Devi
Maiya, why does he have to look so good all the time, Khushi thought.
"If you are done with the staring then come sit, we need to talk.", he
said in his husky voice.
"I wasn't staring.", Khushi replied with more confidence than she felt.
"Oh really?"
"Haan(Yes)."
"Okay come sit."
They were so gonna have a talk.
